Kim Kardashian Robbed at Gunpoint: Here Are My Thoughts

I know plenty of rich people, and none of them walk around wearing an engagement ring worth $4 million. First, it’s a tacky display of wealth. Second, it’s an aesthetic miss. Bigger isn’t always better, and at some point you move away from the beauty of the bauble. Lastly, it’s dangerous. Though Kim Kardashian is surrounded by security, the recent ass-kissing incident proves that she’s not as protected as she’d like to think. If that prankster had a knife, he’d have enough time to stab her. Her bodyguard pulled him to the ground, but not before he severely invaded her space.

When Kim Kardashian was tied up and robbed at gunpoint in her hotel room in Paris, many asked about her bodyguard. Kardashian won’t place blame, saying he was with her sisters instead and she felt completely safe in the comfort of her hotel room. Should the bodyguard have pushed to stay with Kardashian or asked for extra security? She’s not the First Lady, but it’s a thought worth entertaining. Many have also questioned whether this was an “inside job,” given the professional nature of the hit, the knowledge of her solitary status, and the timing. But one doesn’t need to look far to discover the right time and place to access her treasure trove since she documents nearly her entire life on social media. To quote legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld, “You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you.”

I’m not blaming the victim, but she should consider this a blessing in disguise. She was not hurt, her children were not present, and the perpetrators were exclusively after her jewels. Perhaps she will learn a lesson. Her brand is about excess, but in this case, the price of fame is too high.
