Barbara Walters Retires — THE.END.OF.AN.ERA

This news hit me hard. Barbara Walters is my favorite interviewer in history, and getting an extra dose of her on The View has made for a consistent daily treat. In fact, when she’s not there, I quickly change the channel. I should have predicted the announcement, even though I was holding out hope that she’d pull a Mike Wallace and work for infinity. Her interview-style is um-matched asking short, poignant questions sans judgment, and getting more information than anyone else while doing it. She’s the queen. But this time around, there will be no one else to take her throne. Watch some of her most memorable interviews below.

Pistol Annies on ‘The View’ — WATCH NOW

These kids today are so confusing. I saw Pistol Annies perform on The View and thought, “That girl on the right sure looks like Miranda Lambert.” I think you know how this lead-up ends — IT WAS HER. It’s time to start brushing up on my country music trivia. Watch their performance on The View and pick up their new record, ‘Annie Up.’

Quote of the Day: Whoopi Goldberg on Elisabeth Hasselbeck

20130417-110015.jpg“Let me tell you this about The View: I take a paycheck every other week. That’s all I do. I could give a sh-t what comes. I do my job — I have a contract. That’s where I stand. I don’t give a f-ck.” Whoopi Godlberg, on her concerns about who will replace Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaving The View? — Say it Ain’t So!

20130308-155353.jpgIf this news is true, it might even-out my outrage about Joy Behar’s departure. According to Us Weekly, Hasselbeck’s is getting ousted due to viewer objection about her divisive Republican stance.

While I think there’s value in having a conservative on the panel, Hasselbeck has become even more partisan over the years, with an unwavering Republican stance on nearly every issue at hand. In fact, I’d often find her manipulating her stance just to present an unbiased perspective, while covertly sneaking in her Republican viewpoint. If you’re going to hire variety, it’s best to avoid “straight party” thinkers. Also, when market research says you’re unpopular, the network takes no prisoners. This is nothing but a ratings game, and popular opinion will unequivocally reign supreme.

Homeland Recap — Brody’s Daughter Deserves The Boot

20121119-110503.jpgHomeland is a brilliant show with some brilliant actors. Having said that, the daughter and wife have to go. The actors are terrible, and their story-lines are tired and annoying. Casting doesn’t always get it right, and I’m sure after they paid Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, and Mandy Patinkin, they simply ran out of money. That has to be the explanation for these awful performances, right? Watch a clip below of Dana’s character (played by Morgan Saylor), who insists for the 528th time that she “has to tell” the police about her hit-and-run, even though everyone on the planet (including the viewing audience) thinks it’s a bad idea.

Andy Cohen Tells Jill Zarin Why He Fired Her

The Dishmaster loves honestly, so it was refreshing to see Andy Cohen hit Jill Zarin between the eyes when she asked him why he fired her from The Real Housewives of New York. The only thing he could have done differently was rephrased his last sentence to, “The viewers didn’t like you anymore.”

D.L. Hughley on Colorado Shooter: “Someone Should Have Had a Gun”

It’s funny that D.L. Hughley is on ‘The View’ to promote a book about people who talk more than they listen, when D.L. is an infamous non-listener. Watch him assert a brilliant theory about how someone in the Aurora movie theater should have been carrying a gun to go head-to-head with the shooter. Right — because that would have certainly helped.

Barbara Walters on the Queen of England: “She Doesn’t Know How to Smile”

Not a day goes by where I don’t count my blessings for getting a daily dose of Barbara Walters on ‘The View.’ Yesterday was particularly special, because Walters took a moment to make a hilarious point about the Queen’s inability to smile. “There were these adorable children [at the Olympics] who were singing, ‘God Save the Queen,'” she said. “Would it have killed her [to smile]?” she said. Watch below.

Theresa Giudice v. Melissa Gorga on ‘The View’ — Is Melissa Lying?

There’s a little game we used to play in law school called, “How to Spot the Liar.” I put my developed skills to use while watching Melissa Gorga and Kathy Wakile make a failed response on ‘The View’ to Theresa Giudice’s claim that they joined ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ behind her back. When confronted with Theresa’s accusation, Melissa simply said it wasn’t true and Theresa uses that “as a crutch.” When further pressed by the panel, it became very clear Theresa was right. They didn’t disclose the contract negotiations and only told Theresa when they signed on the dotted line. In short, that means they kept a secret. Watch below.
