Tom Hanks Interrupts the Weather on Univision — Genius!

As Moviefone astutely points out, when a celebrity promotes a new film, they conduct endless interviews that mostly entail boring questions about what they share in common with their character, or perhaps what Hollywood hottie they are sleeping with. Tom Hanks broke new ground by appearing on Univision’s ‘Despierta America’ to promote his upcoming film, ‘Larry Crowne,’ and it’s clear from his appearance that he does not have a job as a weatherman in the near future. Watch his hilarious antics below.

Prediction: Vicci Martinez Will Win ‘The Voice’

Since I have a very large ego and I pride myself on predictions, I’d like to take this moment to predict that the very talented Vicci Martinez will win ‘The Voice.’ I’d tell you why, but perhaps you should just watch her perform Florence + The Machine’s ‘Dog Days Are Over’ and judge for yourself.

The World According to Paris — Brooke Mueller Has Horrible Friends

In the video below, you’ll see the perfect example of who NOT to befriend in life. Brooke Mueller is lamenting about her Charlie Sheen breakup, along with her sobriety struggle. Instead of sympathizing with her pain, her extremely horrible assistant and “friend,” decides to yell at her. Let this be a lesson to those who denounce Alcoholics Anonymous and therapy in general — most of the world is comprised of jerks, so seek out a decent support system and rid yourself of toxic, heinous people. Watch below.

Paris Hilton Confirms Cy Waits Break Up On Lopez Tonight — Remains Classy

You know when you go through a painful breakup and you spend most of your time bad-mouthing your ex to anyone who will listen?  Well, Paris Hilton is not in that club.  Though the press often picks on her for being famous for nothing,” I have to give her major kudos for the way she handles her breakups.  I imagine that if I was wronged on any level, I’d take great enjoyment from using the late-night circuit to bash my ex.  As a guilt-ridden Jew, though,  I’d certainly self-loathe shortly thereafter.  Hilton appeared on Lopez Tonight, and Lopez showed a disturbing fight between Hilton and her then boyfriend, Cy Waits, in which Waits’ consistent jealousy reaches a boiling point that results in Hilton slapping him in the face.  Clearly, these two were not meant to be.  But instead of lambasting him, Hilton was kind, saying, that “the relationship just ran its course.”  Who would think I’d ever call Paris Hilton classy? Watch the fight below.

Meghan McCain Responds to Bristol Palin with Supportive Video

It’s one thing to be beautiful. It’s another to be a beautiful, smart bad-ass. Meghan McCain is officially on my girl-crush list. In response to Bristol Palin’s recent claim that McCain “ignored her” during their visit together, and she was forced to “watch her back,” McCain tweeted a “response,” which included a video of her hanging out with Sarah Palin’s children, coupled with a voice-over explaining her excitement about her father’s choice of Palin as a running mate. Kudos to McCain for shutting down the Palin camp. As an aside though, I think I’d rather have the bad press of being a jerk to Bristol Palin than documented evidence of my support for Sarah Palin. Which is more damaging? Watch the video below.

Roger Ebert Apologizes for Ryan Dunn Tweet — Sort of

Roger Ebert has sparked a venomous conversation about his recent Ryan Dunn tweet, when Ebert said, “friends don’t let jackasses drink and drive.” As a result, Ebert apologized — or further explained himself. He said his tweet was “not intended as cruel” but rather, it was “intended as true.” I have mixed feelings about this. First, I’m not sure it’s necessary to state the obvious at a time when Ryan Dunn’s friends and family are grieving. But to quote The Superficial, “Instead of being behind the wheel of a Porsche, if Ryan Dunn had ran down the street randomly firing a gun . . . ” would you still call Ebert an insensitive prick? I’m not sure. This might be the best time for a public lesson — insensitive or not.

Nick Lachey & Vanessa Minnillo’s Televised Wedding — Learned Nothing From Jessica Simpson

What’s that saying? — “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.” When Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson divorced, Lachey told Rolling Stone that the thought of cameras in his life now fills him “with a homicidal rage,” and he just “wants to push [the cameramen] down the fucking stairs.” That quote was in the context of his marriage ending, and the idea that he partly blamed his MTV show, ‘Newlyweds,’ for its demise. Years later, it appears he’s gotten over it. He and Vanessa Minnillo have decided to televise their wedding for a TLC special, and I can’t help but wonder if Nick Lachey will learn the same lesson twice.

Julie Taymor on Social Media: “Shakespeare Would Have Been Appalled”

Julie Taymor took aim at the blogosphere when referencing the criticism she received during the development of Broadway’s Spiderman. Taymor explained the difficulty of making a show in today’s landscape, when the audience basically steers your product. According to Taymor, “Shakespeare would have been appalled.” Because I’m a blogger, I’m obviously biased on this one. Having admitted that, I’d like to say I completely disagree with her. For years, big movie studios have test screened their product, and Broadway does the same. The blogosphere provides a way to speed up the entire process. The only issue is that the entire world finds out about your crappy product before you have a chance to correct it, which means it’s difficult to recover from the bad press. Perhaps Shakespeare would have been grateful for the criticism. I’m sure he asked his friends for advice — now he would just have millions of them.

Did Steven Spielberg Instruct Michael Bay to Fire Megan Fox over Hitler Comments?

I’m not one of those Jews that takes personal offense to the colloquial mentions of Nazism or Hitler. Just don’t call me cheap, though — then I’ll kill you. Apparently, Steven Spielberg doesn’t share in my let-it-roll-off-my-back way of living. In the war of the words between Michael Bay and Megan Fox, Fox compared Michael Bay’s on-set antics to Adolf Hitler. According to Bay, Spielberg said, “fire her right now,” after hearing the comments. So is this true, or is this a desperate attempt by Michael Bay to erase the history of his consistent bad press? I’m not sure, but the time line seems suspicious. Technically, Fox wasn’t “fired,” but instead — her option was not renewed. To put it simply, the movie studio had the option of employing her for the the third film, and they chose not to. Had they wanted her (or had they “picked up her option”), she would have been contractually bound to return for the third installment. They chose not to renew her option at the eleventh hour, which was far later than when she originally made the comments. Translation? — I’m not sure I believe Michael Bay.

Larry David Gives The Bachelorette Advice on ‘The Tonight Show’

On today’s late night shows, you don’t often see the first guest stick around for the second guest.  Mostly, they’ve got better things to do than to waste their time sitting next to someone less famous for an entire segment.  The problem with this new tradition is that there’s nothing funnier than watching A-listers take a back-seat to Z-listers.  Such was the case on ‘The Tonight Show,’ when The Bachelorette’s Ashley Hebert sat next to the legendary Larry David, who couldn’t resist chiming in on her love life.  The result is comedic bliss.  Watch below.
