Leighton Meester Talks Sex — The Right Way
If you’re a fan of my blog, you’ve probably noticed that I often pick on actresses for gratuitously discussing sex in the media. I’ve made it clear that actresses sexualize themselves to stay relevant, and it just perpetuates the misogyny in Hollywood. So in an effort to point out how it can be done with taste, I’m highlighting Leighton Meester’s recent interview, where she mentions sex. Meester discussed the love between Chuck and Blair (the character she plays on Gossip Girl), saying that she understands their intense connection as it’s, “wonderful to be in love. And it’s definitely wonderful to cuddle and have sex and get to experience life with somebody. But it’s OK if you don’t find him and you’re 24. You can find it someday.” Unfortunately, the media is pulling this quote out of context with titles like, “Leighton Meester Loves Sex.” I suppose there’s no way to prevent a tabloid for shady-quote-pulling, but here in Dishmaster land, we have some fucking integrity (insert pat on the back).
UPDATE: I will ignore the photos that accompany her interview, which involve much gratuitous nudity. Why? Because I can’t prove my point if I mention them — OOPS.
