Samantha Geimer, the victim of Roman Polanski’s sex crime, has been trying to get the case thrown out for some time. She’s not happy that her name gets dragged through the mud every time Polanski gets mentioned in the press. The court recently denied her request, stating that she doesn’t have any authority to get it thrown out. Given that the case is criminal and not civil, it’s up to prosecutors, and not the victim, to throw out the case. That means Geimer is at a loss. I’m not exactly sure why they would continue to prosecute though, considering Geimer is the only witness, and she might refuse to testify if this actually went to trial.
