Oscar Ambush: Elinor Burkett Crashes the Stage

If you watched the Oscars, you might have noticed a very odd woman’s acceptance speech for Best Documentary Short. Here’s the story: ‘Music By Prudence’ is a documentary directed by Roger Ross Williams. Elinor Burkett was originally a producer on the film, but she was sacked due to “creative differences.” Because she had already done some work on the film prior to being sacked, the Academy had to give her a producer credit. At the time of the Oscars, she and Roger Ross Williams were no longer speaking. Technically, only one person was supposed to give an acceptance speech for the film. It’s not clear if it was decided in advance by the Academy that Williams would give the speech. However, Williams sprinted to the stage first and began his speech. He was then ambushed by Burkett. Burkett claims that Williams’ mother tried to trip her with a cane so that she could not reach the stage. Insane. Watch the moment ensue below.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Will Star in Woody Allen’s New Film

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, will star alongside Owen Wilson and Marion Cotillard in Woody Allen’s new project.  The film will begin production over the summer in France.  This news somewhat confuses me.  First of all, I am not a huge Carla Bruni fan.  Partly because of all the many controversies I have read about her (you can look those up), and partly because I am jealous of her for being married to Nicolas Sarkozy, a man on my sexiest Presidents of all time list.  If she takes Bill Clinton, I will boycott the film.  This is not surprising though, as Bruni has been trying to launch a career in the entertainment industry for some time now.  Watch a clip of her singing below.  I have to admit, I enjoy her voice.

Remember Yasmine Bleeth? She’s Still Got It

I don’t know about you, but I loved Baywatch! At the time that I started watching it, I really did think the show’s success was based on the dramatic story-lines, and not the slow motion running. Now, with age and oodles of wisdom, I finally get it. Here is a picture of the beautiful Yasmine Bleeth. She has officially won the blondes v. brunettes argument. For some Baywatch nostalgia, watch the clip below.

Congressman Charlie Wilson dies

Former U.S. Congressman Charlie Wilson, the man Tom Hanks played in the 2007 film entitled Charlie Wilson’s War, has died at age 76. Tom Hanks once described meeting Charlie Wilson in an interview by saying:

He was so thoroughly charming that every one of the women in the office said: “Oh, oh, he’s got something…” I said: “Well, can you please explain to me what it is so I can have a little bit of it..” And they looked back at me and said: “Oh Tom, you’re never going to have this…” [Laughs] So, I said I’d fake it when the time comes.
