How does art inform the inspiration for your collections?
In absolutely every way. The collections are about distilling what’s new and what next and art does just that. It provokes thought and innovation and when done right . . . it inspires.
What artists most inspire you?
Young and emerging artists with a fresh take on the established art world that have something to say. Artists that take risks but yet stay true to their own narrative and aesthetic.
What is the most memorable piece of art you ever purchased?
They say art is the gift that keeps on giving. This is especially true of a piece in my home by artist Howard Hallis. Every time I walk past it I see something new or notice something that I hadn’t seen before. It’s a great conversation starter, and I enjoy looking at it every day!
What city have you visited with the most thriving art scene?
[LAUGHS] I get to travel a lot and wherever I am I gravitate toward art exhibits and galleries. I have to say Beijing, because there was art everywhere and in a country where free speech and freedom of expression have not always been the norm, I feel the art has become the medium for people to tell their story, their dreams, their fears, and above all — their hopes.
