Every time Hollywood gets criticism for favoring the ultra skinny girls, Marilyn Monroe is cited as an example of curviness. Legend has it that she was a size 16. The truth behind the myth is that Monroe was actually a size 8. Still curvy by today’s standards, but not nearly what many believed to be her true size.
The picture I selected is from Bert Stern’s The Last Sitting, a collection of photos taken of Monroe over a 3 day period. I am sure Monroe wouldn’t mind, as she once stated, ” [w]e are all born sexual creatures, thank God, but it’s a pity so many people despise and crush this natural gift.
