Paramount Purchases John Hughes Script

Paramount bought the rights to a John Hughes script that was never made into a film.  It is entitled ‘Grisby’s Go Broke,’ and it is about a family that is forced to move after losing their money to bad investments.  Though the script may ultimately be rewritten, it will still be Hughes’ story.  It is unclear from the story whether this script was sold by John Hughes while he was alive and it was just never made, or if it was pulled from his personal files after his death.  I will update when I find out more details.  This story does make me happy though, as Hughes is one of my favorite directors of all time.  I must have watched ‘Pretty in Pink’ and ‘The Breakfast Club’ over a thousand times each.
