When I first viewed Rashida Jones’ Verizon commercial beside her on-screen mother, I immediately felt outraged. “Why couldn’t they cast a woman who is actually old enough to be her mother,” I thought. Then I fueled my fiery rage with thoughts about Hollywood ageism, and all the other actors that would have jumped at the chance for the exposure. When I googled it, I discovered others were equally aghast and felt proud to join the party. Then I stumbled upon an embarassing truth for The Dishmaster. The woman starring as Rashida Jones’ mother in the commercial is actually her real-life mother! Apparently, Peggy Lipton drank from the fountain of youth and looks shockingly young.
