‘The Secret of Kells’ – The Little Animated Film that Could

I never heard of this film until now. In fact, it is nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film, and it has not been released in the United States yet. It premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and is set for a small release on March 19. Watch the trailer below. It looks great and it’s getting great reviews.

New ‘American Pie’ Franchise in the Works

Universal Studios is reinvigorating their American Pie franchise. It is in the beginning stages, so there is no word on whether they will try and get the original actors or completely start over with new actors. Here’s my guess: they’ll find new actors and set it in high school, and they will try and get as many of the original actors as possible to play supporting roles. We will see . . .

Jay-Z Does Not Like ‘We Are the World’ Remake

I find this hilarious, especially since Lady Gaga got so much flak for not wanting to participate in the remake. Jay-Z said that some things are better left untouched, and that a new song should have been written for Haiti relief instead. I tend to agree. In fact, it was recently voted one of the worst charity music videos of all time. At least it was successful though. It sold 267,000 downloads in three days. Watch the original video and the remake below.

Jennifer Lopez Will Make an Appearance on ‘How I Met Your Mother’

Is there any medium that Jennifer Lopez cannot do? Dance, television, movies, music, etc . . . Lopez will appear on a March 8th episode of ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ as a self-help guru with a crush on Neil Patrick Harris.

"Boner" from Growing Pains is Missing

Andrew Koenig, who played Kirk Cameron’s best friend “Boner” on Growing Pains, is missing. He was set to arrive in Los Angeles on February 16th and never made the flight. He has not been seen since.

Shutter Island Dominates Weekend Box Office

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are at it again! Their fourth collaboration has proven to be a successful one, coming in number one at the box office this weekend with over 40 million dollars. See the trailer below.

Saturday Night Live is Very Close to Getting Betty White

Looks like my prediction might be accurate. Since her Super Bowl commercial, the internet is abuzz with requests to get Betty White to host Saturday Night Live. Though it is not yet confirmed, it looks like it may happen. GO BETTY WHITE!

Marlon Wayans to Play Richard Pryor in Biopic

Marlon Wayans, that guy from White Chicks and Scary Movie, will be playing Richard Pryor in a biopic produced by Adam Sandler. The Hollywood rumor was that Eddie Murphy would play the part. I’m not sure that Wayans can pull this off. That being said, I certainly think Eddie Murphy would have been a bad idea. After all, when the best comedians of all time are mentioned, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor are usually on the list together. Wouldn’t it then be a little odd to have Murphy play Pryor? The overlap is just too great. As for Wayans, he is very pleased to have landed the part, saying “I’ve never been more excited in my life.” To get enthused about the film, watch the clip below.

Keeping up with the Kardashians is a Huge Hit . . . Hollywood Left Scratching its Head

To think that I once thought reality television was a fad. Keeping up With the Kardashians is pulling huge numbers, and it is setting cable records. So how can this be? I’m guessing it has something to do with the family being an upper class train wreck. Here’s the rundown: oldest daughter, Kourtney Kardashian, gets “accidentally” pregnant with a D-bag’s baby; middle daughter, Kim Kardashian elopes, divorces, and then has a sex tape with the grossest guy ever; and youngest daughter, Khloe Kardashian, marries a guy after knowing him three weeks. I love every second of it!!

Roger Ebert is my Hero

Those who know me well know that I am a giant Roger Ebert fan. My father and I used to watch Siskel and Ebert hash it out, and my dad would always say that Siskel was his personal favorite. I always preferred Ebert. As a pair, I think they were at their best. Since 2002, Ebert has undergone many surgeries due to thyroid cancer. He no longer has the ability to speak, but lucky for us, he is still writing. Last year alone, he saw 281 movies. Esquire recently did a profile on him, and they blew up the picture rather large. As I expected and greatly admire, Ebert doesn’t care. Ebert said that though the picture “gave him a jolt,” it’s just as well that it’s out there. The most touching part of the article was when he discussed Gene Siskel. He said, “we were born to be Siskel and Ebert. I just miss the guy so much.”

Watch some vintage Siskel and Ebert below.
