‘Glee’ is Going on Tour

This show sure is successful.  The cast of Glee will tour four cities and sing hit songs from the show.   Before you start running to buy tickets though, keep in mind that the great Matthew Morrison/’Mr. Schuster’ will not be touring with the cast.  I think this tour will be incredible.  Most of the actors on the show have a musical theater background so it only makes sense to do a stage production.  Who can forget Lea Michele in Broadway’s ‘Spring Awakening?’  Listen to some great songs from the show below.

Shutter Island is Number One Again!!

This is music to my ears.  The fact that Scorsese is able to stay relevant after all these years amidst the insane ageism in Hollywood, makes me very happy.  This is Shutter Island’s second week at number one, with a total gross of over 75 million dollars.  It is also the most successful film opening for both Scorsese and DiCaprio.  They make quite the team.

The 27th Annual PaleyFest

The William S. Paley Television Festival is held every year to celebrate all things television.  The Paley Center for Media was founded in 1975, and was formerly known as the Museum of Television and Radio.  At the festival, new shows and old shows are honored, and after episodes of each show are played, there is a panel discussion with the cast and creators. Some of the shows honored this year included ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ ‘Lost,’ ‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘Glee,’ ‘Dexter,’ and ‘Modern Family.’  One thing of note at this year’s festival was some Lost spoilers.  See some pics from the festival below.

Karina Smirnoff Cut from Dancing With the Stars

Looks like Karina Smirnoff is joining Lacey Schwimmer and Johnathan Roberts as a casualty of Dancing With the Stars.  She will not be returning for the upcoming season.  Does this have anything to do with her breakup with Maksim Chmerkovskiy?  Maybe the show felt that having both of them on would be too awkward.  Maybe she was the one that wanted off the show.  I just think they are cutting professional dancers this season that they felt didn’t carry a big enough personality.  Who knows.

Forest Whitaker is Pissed at the Weinsteins

Forest Whitaker’s new film, ‘Hurricane Season,’ has gone direct to video, and he is calling it a “travesty.”  He obviously expected a theatrical release, given that there were many big names in the film, and Whitaker thinks it has a great story.  The Weinsteins’ claim that the film didn’t test well, but something tells me this really has to do with the Weinstein Co.’s financial problems.

Matt Damon Says a New Bourne Movie Unlikely

At the premiere of his new film, ‘Green Zone’ Paul Greengrass said that he is unlikely to direct a new Bourne film, as he has nothing else to contribute to the franchise.  Greengrass directed both ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’ and ‘Green Zone,’ and Damon has said that he would not do another Bourne film without him.  This would not be the first time that rumors of a sequel have been squashed.  After ‘The Bourne Supremacy,’ Damon said that ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’ would not work, because the original novel was too dated.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this is just Damon and Greengrass gratuitously babbling to the press.  See pictures from the ‘Green Zone’ premiere below.

Billy Joel Drops Out of Tour with Elton John

Billy Joel has dropped out of his tour with Elton John. The tour was supposed to run until March 11, but Joel has left early, claiming that he wants to take the year off. Because of its success, it was speculated that Joel and John would extend it beyond March 11, but now that won’t happen. Thus far, it has already grossed around 88 million dollars. John said that although he is disappointed, he understands Joel’s decision. Prior to this tour, the last time Joel and John toured together was 2003. Hopefully they will tour again in the near future.

The Best News of the Day: Zoolander 2 in the works!

Ben Stiller is in talks to reprise his role as Derek Zoolander. He is reportedly writing the script with Tropic Thunder writer, Justin Theroux. Jonah Hill will play the villain, a role played by Will Ferrell in the first film. No word on whether Owen Wilson will return as Hanzel, but I am keeping my fingers crossed. I love this movie!

Hollywood Biopic Alert: Tobey Maguire as Bobby Fischer?

As I explained in my earlier post, Hollywood biopics are on the rise. Now, it appears that Tobey Maguire will play Bobby Fischer, in a movie tentatively titled ‘Pawn Sacrifice,’ about Fischer’s 1972 victory over Boris Spassky. For some reason, this is the only biopic that interests me.

Hollywood Biopic Alert: Matt Damon as RFK

Matt Damon is set to play Robert F. Kennedy in a new biopic. Hollywood biopics seem to be on the rise lately. I first reported about DiCaprio playing Sinatra, and then Marlon Wayans as Richard Pryor. So why the influx of biopics? They don’t cost a lot to make and they are easy to promote, as everyone will pretty much already know what the film is about. This will be the second attempt at an RFK movie in recent years. Remember 2006’s ‘Bobby‘?
