The Voice Battle Rounds Continue — ‘Say Something’

It’s no secret that The Voice has some of the best talent out there, so it’s shocking that they have yet to produce a star. It’s possible that the fresh format works against industry longevity, but my more educated guess is that NBC doesn’t have their post-show promotional materials in place, and the stars lose their luster rather quickly. Watch Ddendyl and Deja Hall sing ‘Say Something’ by A Great Big World. Shakira made the wrong choice.

The Voice: George Horga Jr. v. Juhi — WATCH NOW

There’s a reason Cee Lo Green hasn’t won The Voice, and the video below is a perfect example. George Horga Jr. competed against Juhi, who stole the show singing her part of Gavin DeGraw’s ‘The Best I’ve Ever Had.’ Cee Lo voted for George, and Adam Levine swooped in to rescue the very talented Juhi, who will likely go far in the competition. To be fair to George, this was one of my favorite all-time battles. Watch below.

The Voice Battle Rounds — Caroline Pennell Kills It

There’s no doubt that if you want to find the best talent, you need only look to The Voice. There’s also no doubt that NBC is notoriously terrible at post-show promotion, which means that, unfortunately, every participant will fade into non-existence. Having said that, watch the video below of the incredibly talented Caroline Pennell, whose unique tone far exceeds her range. It’s too bad NBC knows nothing about fostering musical talent. Otherwise this girl would go very far.

Caroline Pennell Sings ‘Anything Could Happen’ on The Voice — WATCH NOW

If you follow The Voice, then you know that Blake Shelton picks his contestants based on tone, not range. That philosophy has served him well, garnering three wins as a mentor on the show. So when Caroline Pennell sang ‘Anything Could Happen,’ I knew Blake would immediately turn around. Unfortunately, Caroline missed the memo on the most loyal judges and chose Cee Lo Green as her mentor, in what will likely result in post-show oblivion. Watch her strikingly good performance below.

Danielle Bradbery Wins The Voice — Blake Shelton is a Happy Man

Danielle Bradbery won The Voice, and she sure deserved it. The Voice desperately needed a main-stream star, because after three seasons, they had yet to compete with American Idol’s track record. I think it’s safe to say they’re now in the clear. Danielle is going to be huge. Watch her top performances below.

FINALE — “I WANT CRAZY”

TOP FIVE — “PLEASE REMEMBER ME”

TOP SIX — “SHAKE THE SUGAR TREE”

TOP EIGHT — GRANDPA (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days)

TOP TEN — “HEADS CAROLINA, TAILS CALIFORNIA”

Mackenzie Bourg Off The Voice — What’s Next For the Pop Tart?

The only contestant on The Voice with any chance of a post-show career was Mackenzie Bourg — and since he’s done — so is the show. After three seasons with no stand-out stars, your show becomes glorified Karaoke contest. Where are the Kelly Clarksons, Jennifer Hudsons, and Carrie Underwoods? Watch Mackenzie below.

MacKenzie Bourg Advances on The Voice — ONE STEP CLOSER

Since I’ve maintained fromt he beggining of The Voice that MacKenzie Bourg is the only contestant with a chance to have a career outside of this dead-end talent show, I was pleased to see that Cee Lo got it right by choosing him to advance past the battle rounds. Watch him since “Good Time.”
