Howard Stern Makes 7 Year Old Cry — Has a Heart

The tears of the 7 year old on America’s Got Talent is more the fault of the producers for letting him perform (and the child’s mother) than it is of Howard Stern. But America finally got to see Stern’s soft-side. He walked on stage to give the boy a hug, and then turned to his sidekick, Robin Quivers, and said that the job as judge just isn’t for him. Nick Cannon also proved to be a great host when he immediately came to the child’s aid. Watch below.

Quote of the Day — Howard Stern v. Donald Trump — The Gay Marriage War

“Why does everybody respect everyone’s faith? What if your faith is dumb? What if you believe that the world is flat? We should honor that belief? You have a make believe friend that says gay people can’t get married? That’s your faith? I believe in an imaginary rabbit. Same thing. You know what you should say to Donald? If you’re so worried about religion, why did you get divorced from two women? Why can you break some rules but not this one?” Howard Stern, on why George Takei shouldn’t bother having lunch with Donald Trump to convince him to support gay marriage.

Veep — The Funniest New Show on Television

Thirty seconds into watching the pilot for Veep, it occurred to me what a real comedy looks like. I’ve lowered my standards so much in our current television climate, that I forgot what it’s like for a show to make me actually laugh out loud. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a comedic genius, and she’s the only one who could make such a ridiculous character likable. The show centers around the Vice President (played by Louis-Dreyfus), and you never see the President. She’s temperamental and nuts, and when she brings people into her office she greets them with, “Did you know I get my own flag?” Watch the trailer below. My apologies to the show for not endorsing this sooner.

Katy Perry Performs Wide Awake at Billboard Music Awards — Pink is Pissed

I’m not a huge Katy Perry fan, but I actually loved her performance at the Billboard Music Awards. Apparently, Pink didn’t feel the same way. After taking aim at Chris Brown for lip-syncing his song, her husband then went after Perry, saying, “I’m pretty sure I saw my wife did [sic] that same performance, but she was 3 months pregnant and actually sang the song.” First, I’m not sure Pink has an exclusive hold on aerial performances, and second, comparing her vocal prowess to Perry’s is akin to comparing Adele to Britney Spears. We all know Pink is in a separate league.

Movie Review: The Avengers

Joss Whedon is a genius. He not only made a great film, but he also successfully reinvigorated four suffering franchises. That’s an epic move for Marvel, who will now be able to capitalize on the missteps of other directors, who caused significant damage to Hollywood’s biggest money-makers (see ‘Iron Man 2’ and Edward Norton’s ‘The Hulk’). The plot might actually be less important than the dialogue. All you need to know is someone is trying to destroy the world, and The Avengers are commissioned to prevent it. Their unity proves to be a hilariously difficult task, and they often spend more time fighting each other than the enemy. Does it get better than Iron Man insulting Thor’s dated manner of speaking, or everyone insulting The Hulk’s awful temper? The beauty of this film is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s an action film worth every penny, which is something difficult to achieve in such an ailing economy.

OVERALL RATING: 5/5 DISHES

Quote of the Day: Patrick Stump Didn’t Quit Music

“The last time I blogged I apparently accidentally quit music. I can only imagine I must be poor at expressing myself considering how easily people misunderstood me. Somewhere around the time my mom called me to check if I were okay I figured I was in way over my head/totally sucked at venting.” Fall Out Boy’s lead singer, Patrick Stump, on the misunderstanding surrounding one of his blog posts, which everyone (including The Dishmaster) interpreted to mean he was severely depressed and quitting music. In fact, I actually made an effort through a mutual friend to ensure that he was mentally stable. But that’s neither here nor there. He’s okay — and that’s all that matters.

Caption This: The Dictator & Elisabetta Canalis Talk About . . .

Take some time to caption the photo below. Apparently, things got heated at the Cannes Film Festival between The Dictator and Elisabetta Canalis, and she was thrown overboard in a body-bag. What do you think they were saying in that picture, and whatever it was — is that the motive for the murder?
