Lee Dewyze Wins American Idol – I’m a Genius

It’s not often that I toot my own horn, but when I can do it without reservation, it makes me very happy.  Lee Dewyze won American Idol tonight, and I can safety say that I called it.  I’d like to direct you to my post that was published on March 16, 2010, where I stated that he was my favorite to win (at a time when the judges had yet to realize he was a frontrunner).  Click the link below to see the evidence of my Cowell-like ability.  And watch the video if you’d like to see a very grateful Lee Dewyze win the show.

Ellen DeGeneres is Starting a Record Label . . . HUH?

Ellen DeGeneres is launching her own record label called eleveneleven.  Her first signed artist will be 12 year old Greyson Chance.  I’m not sure what to make of this.  Can anyone start a label now?  I guess all you need is a ton of dough.  I think the timing of this announcement is pretty perfect though.  Her contract with American Idol is up after this season is over, and she can use this to say that she has the “music experience” necessary to be a judge.  We’ll see if she gets any hit makers though.  When Cowell began American Idol, he already had some huge successes under his belt.  He wasn’t just some funny gy that they threw on the panel.  Watch Greyson Chance sing Lady Gaga’s Papparazi below.  He’s okay I guess, but I’m not sure I have any interest in watching 12 year olds sing.

American Idol Conspiracy in the Works – The Judges Sabotage Casey James

I just finished watch American Idol, and once again found myself infuriated.  Casey James had a fantastic performance with ‘Mrs. Robinson,’ and yet the judges didn’t like it.  Either they are trying to influence America to to kick him out, or they are incredibly stupid.  I think it might be the ladder.  Did I mention that Kara DioGuardi is extremely irritating?  Can she at least make an effort to dress a little hotter?  She looked like a school principal.  Watch Casey’s performance.

‘American Idol’ Finale Will Run Long – Set Your DVRs Now

‘American Idol’ has finally admitted that it cannot run its own show.  They recently confessed that the finale will run 7 minutes long which, as Movieline points out, “is more like 27 minutes.”  Is it not possible to effectively produce this show?  Wait – I take that back.  Clearly it isn’t, given that last week’s shows had the lowest ratings since 2002.

Harry Connick Jr. Responds to Fan Requests That he Judge American Idol

I’d like to think that Harry Connick Jr. reads justTHEdish, and that is where he heard about my request that he judge ‘American Idol,’ but the truth is pretty much the entire country had this idea.  Harry said that he doesn’t know if he’d make a good judge, because his musical experience is not the pop world.  I wonder what Ellen Degeneres’ pop experience is?  And I know Randy is supposed to bring this background, but he only knows the word pitchy.  Harry must do it!  Fans unite!

Lady Gaga Performs on ‘American Idol’ – Watch in Full

Someone forgot to tell Lady Gaga that ‘American Idol’ sucks now.  Her performance on Wednesday’s results show was pre-taped, which annoys me.  Remember the old Idol days when the judges would actually sit and watch these performances and you could see their faces?  Anyways, I love Gaga but I’m going on the record to say that she has to stop covering her face.  I actually want to see what she looks like.  Imagine that.  Watch below.

Harry Connick Jr. Needs to be the New Judge on ‘American Idol’

It’s official: Harry Connick Jr. needs to take over for Simon Cowell on ‘American Idol.’  Enough of the Elton John suggestions.  Connick Jr. proved himself on last night’s show.  He’s funny, he’s charming, he’s good-looking, and he certainly knows his music.  Any by “knows his music,” I mean he has other words in his vocabulary besides “pitchy.”  He’s by far the best mentor that the show has ever had, and he even pointed out why Casey James might have had trouble singing, given that you can’t hear yourself on stage (not one of the FOUR judges on the panel had constructive criticism such as this).  I can’t be the only one to think of this.  Wait – I take that back.  Given that the Idol producers can barely run the show on time, I bet they haven’t thought of it.  Glad I’m here to help.  Watch Connick Jr. in action below.

Shobian Magnus Eliminated on ‘American Idol’ – I’m not Surprised

I am watching ‘American Idol’ this season for the same reason I slow my car down when I see an accident on the side of the road.  The show is horrible.  If you’re shocked that Siobhan was sent home, I think you can blame it on the viewers’ apathy toward just about every contestant.  The judges picked a terrible top 32, and now we are forced to pick the best of the worst.  The fact that Simon isn’t acknowledging the issue surprises me.  All I ask is that we reserve our feigned shock about this elimination to get to the heart of the issue – the show is simply unwatchable and there is no one to root for.  Watch below to hear the song that she got eliminated for, and judge for yourself.

Idol Gives Back – The Debacle

I have to give a shout out to Andy Dehnart of Reality Blurred for his coverage of ‘Idol Gives Back.’  He basically said everything I was thinking and made me laugh hysterically in the process, so click the link below to read it.  I’ve also posted some videos from the show that you can watch at your own risk.

Crystal Bowersox Feels "Betrayed" by Ryan Seacrest

According to former contestant Katelyn Epperly, Bowersox feels “betrayed” by Seacrest.  It appears that he leaked their private conversation to the press to make himself look good.  Bowersox apparently wanted to leave ‘American Idol,’ because she missed her son so much, and Seacrest felt the need to expose (to TMZ) how he swooped in and saved the day.
