Prince is Being Sued

Prince is being sued by promoters for canceling a performance at Croke Park in 2008. Part of Prince’s defense is that his agents did not have the authority to bind him to the gig, and that he did not personally agree to it. The agents have debunked that claim in recent testimony, by stating that they had express authority from Prince to book gigs and at no point did Prince tell them to cancel the gig on his behalf. I tend to side with the promoters. Prince is notoriously difficult. In fact, listen to the clip of Howard Stern railing on Prince while discussing a personal experience with him. It’s pretty funny.

Howard Stern v. Ellen Degeneres

Howard Stern is one angry guy lately and you know what that means? Great radio! Stern spent a good chunk of his show yesterday bashing Ellen. Though Stern has yet to confirm whether American Idol is courting him, he wasn’t too pleased to read that Degeneres is against the idea. Stern claimed that no matter how much he hates someone, he would never try to prevent them from getting a job. Stern sounds a bit hypocritical here. After all, when you spend a large part of your show discussing all the ways you hate Ellen, you can’t really expect her to bite her tongue when asked about you. Did I mention that this makes great radio?

Howard Stern to Replace Simon Cowell?

According to the New York Post, Howard Stern is in talks to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol. Because Rupert Murdoch owns both the Post and Fox, the story has legs. Stern has repeatedly said on his radio show that he is the only person that could replace Cowell, but he wouldn’t be interested in the job. Is this whole thing one big negotiating ploy with Sirius because his contract is up at the end of the year? Will Stern retire from the industry altogether, as he often says he’d like to do? Time will tell.
