Miley Cyrus Engaged — Designers Propose Wedding Dress Sketches

Though I realize the ridiculousness of a teenage-engagement, my love for fashion made me delighted to get an email with sketch ideas for Miley Cyrus’ wedding dress. See the dresses below, combined with quotes from each designer explaining the inspiration.

“This gown that I created complements the more whimsical and bohemian style that match her casual country aesthetic while mixing in elements like cut-outs and lace that reflect the more sophisticated style she has been rocking lately on the red carpet.”

–VAL STEFANI

“Miley has a personal approach to fashion which is bold and I wanted to reflect that. She has transitioned into a beautiful young woman and this silhouette is perfect for her. The vintage style of the beadwork paired with the modern application of the skirt gives the gown a youthful yet romantic tone”. —ANNE BARGE

“Miley Cyrus style has evolved. We have seen her grow on the red carpet. We were inspired by her new sophisticated confidence. We think she’ll want to continue her sexy style but with classic touches. Peplums are huge right now. This silhouette is borrowed from the couture runways, they add structure and shape to the dress. Agua Dulce silk sweetheart neckline dress with structured peplum bodice. Soft Chantilly lace details with pearl and sequin embroidery throughout. Mermaid skirt.” — designer MARIANA AGUIRRE of Agua Dulce

‘Miley is so fresh and young with a bubbly personality—this gown will highlight her curves yet give her a modern air of sophistication and elegance on her wedding day.’ —JUNKO YOSHIOKA

“Miley has always chosen elegant and classic gowns for her red carpet appearances. I see her choosing a style that expresses her personal style and fashionable taste but still keeping it elegant and tasteful. “ –Ines Di Santo

‘Since Miley is a young bride, I could see her wanting a fairytale ball gown style dress. The look I sketched for her is bold and extravagant leaving no detail overlooked.’ –ANGEL RIVERA

The Book of Mormon at the Tonys — Watch

I had a Mormon friend go see ‘The Book of Mormon’ on Broadway, which is in it of itself one of the most hilarious sentences I’ve ever written. When I asked him what he thought of the play, he predictably told me he found it offensive. He then declared himself to be open-minded to criticism of his own religion, which I found even funnier. Perhaps he is, but I’ve always been curious what the hoopla is about, and since the show is sold-out for eternity, watch the clip below from last night’s Tony Awards to get a taste of it.

John Mayer in Rolling Stone — Relates to Kanye West

I just sat down to read John Mayer’s very intriguing interview in Rolling Stone, and there was one particular exchange I had to share. In the midst of Mayer’s emotional lament about the public backlash he received during his media-madness tour, I found the gem below. Enjoy.

John Mayer: “People don’t understand — when you screw up, and you feel that wave of energy of a million people saying, ‘Shame on you’ — 20 minutes on that grill is enough to change your life. The body is not equipped to handle negative energy from so many people. What’s that Kanye West line? ‘There’s a thousand yous, there’s only one of me?’ I think about that a lot.”

Josh Eells, Rolling Stone: “I’m not sure that’s what Kanye meant by that lyric.”

John Mayer: “It’s not. But that’s the great thing about lyrics: You can take them how you want.”

Josh Eells, Rolling Stone: “Yeah, but that one is Kanye saying to a girl, ‘How can you refuse to sleep with me, there’s a thousand girls like you but only one Kanye West?'”

John Mayer: “Well, now he has me to thank. Because I just made it deeper.”

Theresa Giudice v. Melissa Gorga on ‘The View’ — Is Melissa Lying?

There’s a little game we used to play in law school called, “How to Spot the Liar.” I put my developed skills to use while watching Melissa Gorga and Kathy Wakile make a failed response on ‘The View’ to Theresa Giudice’s claim that they joined ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ behind her back. When confronted with Theresa’s accusation, Melissa simply said it wasn’t true and Theresa uses that “as a crutch.” When further pressed by the panel, it became very clear Theresa was right. They didn’t disclose the contract negotiations and only told Theresa when they signed on the dotted line. In short, that means they kept a secret. Watch below.

Ted Turner Calls Jane Fonda the “Love of His Life”

Despite my prickly exterior, I’m a sucker for love, so when I came across this interview with Piers Morgan and Ted Turner, my heart melted. When asked if he ever got over Jane Fonda, Ted said no, explaining that, “When you love somebody and you really love them, you never stop loving them, no matter how hard you try. You can’t — and there’s nothing wrong with that.” Watch below.

Melissa Stetten Exposes Brian Presley on Twitter? — Is He a Cheater?

Once upon a time, a married man hit on me in a bar. My gay-best-friend called him out and asked to see the ring in his pocket. I remember naively thinking, “This doesn’t really happen, does it?” Apparently, you don’t need a gay-best-friend anymore. You can just use twitter to do your dirty work. Soap-opera actor Brian Presley learned this the hard way when he allegedly hit on airplane passenger and model Melissa Stetten who live-tweeted his come-ons. Such gems include, “Brian has a wedding ring. I ask him how his wife is, he says he just wears the ring because he likes it. Right, Brian,” and “Holy shit, Brian came out of the bathroom WITHOUT his wedding ring on. Watch out Virgin America, you’ve got a real charmer on board.” When the tweets went viral, Brian attempted to save-face, saying, “I love that I took a red eye flight to NY, had a 10 minute friendly conversation with the person sitting next to me, had some food, and went to sleep!” This has to be the most bad-ass form of exposing a cheater in history (allegedly, of course). Watch below to see the charmer in question with his wife, and see all the twitter posts by clicking here.
