Dave Coulier Confirms Alanis’ ‘You Oughta Know’ is About Him

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and Alanis Morissette’s ‘You Oughta Know,’ is a national anthem. For years it’s been speculated that Dave Coulier was the inspiration, but it’s never been confirmed — until now. Listen to Dave Coulier discuss his reaction to the lyrics.

Jenny McCarthy Gifts a First Kiss to Tommy Wooldridge — WATCH NOW

I’m pretty sure Luke Bryan was more excited for Tommy Wooldridge’s Jenny McCarthy kiss than Wooldridge himself. Here’s a quick recap: Wooldridge had never been kissed, and he used Luke Bryan’s song lyrics to try to pick up chicks. And being the playfully generous gal she is, McCarthy threw him a bone (pun intended). Watch below.

Mike Doughty Re-Releases Soul Coughing Tunes — LISTEN to his NPR Interview

There’s no doubting my massive Mike Doughty devotion. I interviewed him some time ago, and he was extremely honest about the perils of being creatively confined to his former band, Soul Coughing. Though his fans have long loved his original hits, he’s been quick to dismiss those songs, saying that had he called all the original shots, those tunes would have turned in a different direction. And true to his wishes, he’s now brilliantly reworked them to satisfy his desired design. Listen to his very awesome NPR interview, which gives intricate insight into his journey. His new album is called, ‘Circles Super Bon Bon.’

The Killers Release ‘Shot at the Night’ — Make the 80’s Jealous

Don’t look now, but The Killers transported themselves to the 80’s for their new song, ‘Shot at the Night.’ The song is one of two original tracks on their upcoming greatest hits record, which will feature their most-loved music. Check it out November 11th, and listen to their new song below.

Jake Gyllenhaal Talks Heath Ledger: “He’s Lovable”

For years I’ve wondered when Jake Gyllenhaal would discuss Heath Ledger. He stayed silent after his passing, and Brokeback Mountain has rarely been brought up since. Perhaps interviews are simply afraid to bring it up. But since James Lipton is practically required to engaged in an in-depth analysis of every facet of an actor’s career for his Inside the Actor’s Studio interviews, Gyllenhaal finally talked about his old friend. Watch below.

YOM KIPPUR — Blog Fasting Ensues

ykHello all!

It’s that time of year again. The time where I’ll repent my sins, and starve all day while dreaming of the yummy bagels. Translation? I’ll be back Monday.

In the meantime, take a listen to my latest podcast. It’s a good one. See you soon!

Julie Chen Admits Eye Surgery to Look Less Chinese

This story is so disturbing I felt physically ill after watching the video below (I’m serious). In a series of revelations on ‘The Talk,’ Chen admitted to having had eye surgery to make herself “look less Chinese” after advice from a Hollywood agent. She closed by saying “No one is more proud of being Chinese than I am,” and her co-panelists provided unconditional support. In related news, has everyone lost their mind? If someone told me to reduce the size of my schnoz to look “less Jewish,” I’d blast him. And since the shape of Chen’s eyes are unequivocally equated with her heritage, my example is not even nearly as bad. Dear God this is shocking.

X FACTOR DEBUTS — In a Dying Format?

Though I think Simon Cowell made all the right decisions with his new panel, I have to admit a general fatigue with this format. There’s something unsettling about gathering a group of ladies who can no longer make money in this tanking industry and paying them large salaries to judge up-and-comers who, no matter how talented, won’t be able to sell records. Everyone knows the only way to make money is on tour, and the amount of performers that can sell-out stadiums is becoming incredibly scarce. That means that the only people who can likely make a dime are the over-the-top pop tarts, and those stories don’t translate as well as the video below, which shows a boyfriend/girlfriend duo that would likely be a huge success if the music industry were in a different place. Until Simon Cowell comes up with an idea to save the music industry, I’ll consider this format — and him — DATED. Watch Alex & Sierra perform Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ below.

Jenny McCarthy Makes her View Debut — How’d She Do?

Months before Jenny McCarthy got her job on The View, I tweeted the show asking that they make her a permanent panelist. It’s clear she was being courted amongst other potential candidates, but she stood out. She’s relaxed, open, seasoned, and most of all — not contentious. And given that Jenny doesn’t do well without barriers, this is the perfect format to reign in her rebellious side. The View is meant to be a nice relief, so it’s a breath of fresh air to lose the always on-edge Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who was constantly at war with her co-hosts. In another format, perhaps Hasselbeck will shine. But in this one — it’s McCarthy’s game. Watch a clip of her first show below.
