Derek Hough & Jaimie Goodwin Walk on Air — Mind-Bending Bonanza

Derek Hough consistently reaffirms why he’s the best professional dancer on Dancing With the Stars — or perhaps anywhere. His choreography continues to astound, and his performance to Kerli’s ‘Walking on Air’ was no exception. Watch the gravity-defying masterpiece below.

Dancing With the Stars Week 4 Results Recap — Who Went Home?

When Dancing With the Stars debuted, I was certain it would be a hit. Why? Because unlike other reality competition shows of a different format, even bad dancing is fun to watch. After years of devoted fandom, I sat in the audience for last night’s results show, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. It was country night, and my southern roots (wait . . . does Florida count?) were met with extreme elation when I saw Brad Paisley and The Band Perry.

The most moving moment of the night came from Brilynn Rakes & Derek Hough, who executed a beautiful and elegant dance as part of AT&T’s spotlight performance (see below).

The evening ended with a farewell to Lisa Vanderpump, who was my personal favorite for her personality alone. And speaking of personality, I was fortunate enough to get a first-hand look at Vanderpump’s furry friend, Jiggy, who is a surprisingly well-behaved dog, making not a peep despite the ballroom’s raucous applause.

Ok! Magazine’s Pre-Grammy Party — The Stars Are Shiny

Though I’m not sure how I missed the party, at least I got the pictures. Check out the photos from OK! Magazine’s Pre-Grammy Event presented by CIROC.

Derek Hough’s Samba Sizzles — Tribal Triumph

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. There is no better choreographer on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ than Derek Hough. He’s original and incredible. Sure his samba lacked substantial samba content, but with a dance like that, the rules should be rewritten. Watch below to see his performance with Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas.

Maria Menounos & Derek Hough Eliminated from DWTS — Poor Lovebirds

Maria Menounos has had the same boyfriend for almost a decade, and he’s an extremely non-jealous man who doesn’t mind his girlfriend being sexually and emotionally propositioned on stage by Derek Hough. Not sure what I mean? Watch Maria and Derek perform the Argentine Tango, and take a close look at the end of the dance where he basically attempts to make out with her followed by caressing her face. They sure are good actors.

Dancing With the Stars All-Star Edition — Exes From Hell?

The greatest thing about ABC’s decision to use all-stars for next season of Dancing With the Stars is the idea of celebrities returning to their ex boyfriends and girlfriends for the competition. Though it’s a long shot, perhaps Mario Lopez will be paired with Karina Smirnoff, Sabrina Bryan will reunite with Mark Ballas, Derek Hough will reconnect with Shannon Elizabeth, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy can pair up with Willa Ford or Erin Andrews. This is going to be good.

Derek & Maria Dance the Samba — Magical

Derek Hough is undoubtedly the best choreographer on Dancing With the Stars, and that was demonstrated again last night by his extremely original take on the Samba, which included a very fun Bollywood spin. Watch below, and take notice of Maria’s very flat stomach. It’s incredible.

Maria Menounos & Derek Hough Dance Salsa — Ego-Mania?

There’s something about Maria Menounos and Derek Hough’s salsa dance tonight that rubbed me the wrong way (no pun intended). Perhaps it was Derek Hough’s insatiable desire to show-off his body, or Maria’s faux-coy act. Either way, it didn’t work. I finally understand Howard Stern’s rants about how the male dancers’ egos have become to big for the show. Watch below.

Is Tristan MacManus the New DWTS Powerhouse?

Derek Hough has some serious competition. Tristan MacManus is officially a contender for the best-professional-dancer title on DWTS. In fact, when Tristan performed with Gladys Knight on tonight’s episode, I found myself exclusively watching Tristan. Plus, he’s also a nice guy who doesn’t yell at his partner to get results. I know this because I went to the show last season and made a point to watch him off-stage. I saw him comforting Nancy Grace who was profusely apologizing for her sub-par performance. He’s a true gentleman.

J.R. Martinez & Karina Smirnoff — Best Freestyle — DWTS!

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff won last night’s Dancing With the Stars freestyle round by a landslide. Though I love Derek Hough and Cheryl Burke, they barely compared. Burke’s freestyle was far too contained, and Hough’s lacked the originality and fun that he’s known for. Plus, Karina has never won the competition, and this is her year. Did I mention that she has one of the best bodies I’ve ever seen in my life? First I’ll buy that tiny little outfit as motivation, and then I’ll start ballroom dancing. Watch below.
