‘When You’re Strange’ – New Documentary on ‘The Doors’ Debuts April 9th

I confess I never really understood the appeal of ‘The Doors.’  I knew a lot of guys that had Jim Morrison’s poster on their wall, but I just never got it.  Then I went to Paris and saw Morrison’s grave, and, at the very least, I understood the amount of love people had for Morrison.  The interest in the group doesn’t seem to wane, and this new documentary reflects that.  The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2009, to great reviews.  The only complaint involved the narration, so Johnny Depp was brought on to re-narrate the film.  This is not the first film about the group.  Oliver Stone directed a Doors biopic in 1991, but fans complained that it was historically inaccurate.  Unlike Stone’s biopic, it seems that writer/director Tom DiCillo got his facts straight.  See the trailer below.

Erykah Badu Likes to Frighten Little Children by Stripping Down Naked

I am a little late in reporting this story, but after hearing about it, I could not resist.  Erykah Badu stripped down naked at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, while shooting her new music video for her song ‘window seat.’  She then pretended to get shot in the head at the exact site where JFK was shot (no I did not make this up).  The problem is that she did this in a public place, with little children around.  She has since been charged with disorderly conduct and ordered to pay a fine.  Surprisingly, most of the public outrage surrounds her disrespecting JFK, and not her running around naked in public.  Had she rubbed two brain cells together, she could have shot the video with her clothes on, and later altered it to make her appear naked.  I’m sure that would destroy the “art” behind the video though.  Watch it below at your own risk.

Top Screen Sirens Chosen – Reveals Men and Women have very Different Taste in Women

Men are always telling me that “women don’t know what a hot chick looks like.”  An argument then ensues about who is hotter: Jessica Biel or Jennifer Garner?  Well a new poll in England may solidify this point.  When asked to vote on the top screen siren of all time, women chose Audrey Hepburn, and men chose Ursula Andress, of ‘Dr. No’ fame.  See the beautiful women below.

The Lebowski Fest is Today!

‘The Dude’ must be one of the best characters in cinema history.  So when I heard that the Lebowski Fest was today, I had to do some research to see how Jeff Bridges feels about the honor.  Here’s what he said: “I’ve been to a Lebowski Fest! Oh yeah! I love it! Oh gosh! Well, I’m a big fan of that movie. That’s a great movie.”  He also said that he was upset when the movie first came out and did not get a lot of attention (it only made $17 million in theaters), but is glad to see it has legs.

Slash Streams his new Solo Album Online

Dangerous or genius?  Slash is streaming his new solo album online for free.  The self titled album is available for purchase on April 6th, but click the link below to hear it now.  Some of the collaborations include: Ozzy Osbourne; Chris Cornell; Fergie; Dave Grohl; Kid Rock; and Iggy Pop.  This is not the first time an artist has made their album available for free online.  In 2007, Radiohead made their album available online for whatever price people wanted to pay.  Unlike Radiohead though, Slash is not giving away the album, he is just sampling it, probably hoping that consumers will get excited and purchase it when it comes out.

Movie Review: ‘The Bounty Hunter’

This film simply didn’t work. They put two very beautiful people together, and created a thin storyline to keep them together for the entire film. Jennifer Aniston plays a journalist that skips bail to track down a story, and Gerard Butler plays the cop turned bounty hunter, tracking down his ex-wife. The underlying plot surrounds the story that she’s tracking down. I didn’t care too much about that story, and my guess is neither will movie goers, as it’s pretty sloppy. I would still recommend going to see it though, because those two sure are beautiful on the big screen.

Geri Halliwell Reveals why she Left ‘The Spice Girls’

Geri Halliwell told Piers Morgan that she left ‘The Spice Girls’ after being told she could not do a cancer awareness interview.  The group had an agreement that they would only do interviews together, so they refused to let Halliwell do it.  She subsequently quit.  Well, this doesn’t sound like too much of a revelation to me.  It sounds like one big petty mess that probably had some other sides to the story we aren’t hearing.  Besides, it was time for that group to end.  They ran their course.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Beats ‘American Idol’

For the first time ever, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ beat ‘American Idol’ in the ratings race.  Monday’s ‘DWTS’ had a total of 23 million viewers, while ‘Idol’ had 21.8 million viewers on Tuesday.  In defense of ‘Idol,’ it still has more viewers in the coveted 18-49 category, which is all advertisers really care about.  Why?  Because back in the day when certain networks were losing in the ratings race, they created this arbitrary 18-49 category, arguing that it is better to win the ratings race with younger viewers rather than total viewers overall.  Apparently, younger viewers are more likely to buy new products, as they are less set in their ways.  It’s all hogwash if you ask me.  ‘Idol’ is going downhill no matter how you play it.  Ever since producer Nigel Lythgoe left the show to start ‘So you Think you Can Dance,’ it simply hasn’t been the same.
