Amy Purdy & Derek Hough’s Awe-Inspiring Tango — TAKE A LOOK

If there was ever any doubt about Derek Hough’s domination of Dancing With the Stars, watch his powerful performance of the Argentine Tango. Hough’s captivating choreography was shockingly created during Purdy’s back injury, forcing Purdy to watch as Hough executed the moves with another partner during practice. She therefore had an extremely short period of time to prepare for Monday’s show. If you watch the video below carefully, you’ll notice that Hough designed each move around Purdy’s injury to put less pressure on her back as they performed. He’s an artist.

Isaiah Washington Makes Poetic Return to Grey’s Anatomy

“Isaiah is a person that we all love and have loved for a very long time. I feel like there have been a lot of people that have been like, ‘How can you do this?’ And I feel very strongly and fully believe in people’s ability to grow and change and learn from their mistakes and when they know better, to do better. If people don’t think that, over the course of seven years, it’s possible for a human being to change, then there really is no future for the human race at all.” Series creator Shonda Rhimes, on Isaiah Washington’s return to Grey’s Anatomy after his much-publicized exit from the show. Watch Washington’s beautiful chemistry with Sandra Oh below.

Amy Purdy Reveals Relationship Issues in Rumba — WATCH NOW

It doesn’t take a relationship guru to know that if your romance is strained, it’s probably not a good idea to publicly expose its flaws. When Amy Purdy and Derek Hough danced the Rumba on last night’s show, Purdy revealed that it’s difficult to do a “dance of love” when her own long-term relationship is failing. Apparently she can’t meet her partner’s needs and her busy schedule bothers her boyfriend. In fact, these issues have actually been brewing for 1.5 years, which is especially shocking considering her non-marital status. After all, shouldn’t you wait until marriage to be miserable? Watch the video package below, and take special note of how NOT to behave in your relationship, on facebook, and any other public forum. That poor guy.

‘True Tori’ Debuts on Lifetime — A FULL REVIEW

It’s a challenge to feel compassion for Tori Spelling. Her husband’s affair only punctuates the painful truth that their own romantic relationship began with the exact same story. Tori and Dean were both married to others when they met, and that didn’t stop them. Any anger toward Dean and his mistress can therefore only emphasize the anger she must feel toward herself, given that she’s guilty of the same infraction. While I understand we are all flawed individuals who might fall in love with another person, one’s exit can be handled with dignity, a feat these two did not accomplish the first time around.

As for the show itself, ‘True Tori,’ is an awkward examination of a marriage on the brink of divorce, with clunky confessionals from Spelling herself who seems as if she’s catching her breath instead of telling the story. Is this true “reality,” or a somewhat scripted show with underlying truths? There’s simply no way to say. But there is one unequivocal certainty, and it’s that her four children are filmed. There are no words to adequately express my violent rage about a mother putting her children on television for the purpose of financial gain. These kids are working for their food, and given that they’re already experiencing huge trauma associated with their dad’s departure, it’s astounding that a mother would trot them out on television.

The therapy sessions which reveal the intimate details of her marriage are also enraging. Dean McDermott confesses his issues with alcohol, which is a sacrosanct personal struggle that deserves privacy to persevere. It’s easy to attack the cheater, but as previously mentioned, Tori is a cheater too. At first glance, it’s clear Dean is extremely unhealthy. I won’t kick the man while he’s down, but internal struggles have physical results, and he’s no exception. He deserves privacy.

The only true empathy, compassion, and sadness I feel as a result of this show is for Tori Spelling’s children. They might be the only adults in the room.

Dancing With the Stars — Macy’s Stars of Dance Performance

Dancing With the Stars has upped the ante this year, with professional performances from their seasoned elite, along with modern music choices and more talented stars. While the jury is still out on the bid to regain their ratings, they’ve certainly given it their A-Game. Watch my personal favorite, Derek Hough, perform with a group of very talented dancers for a featured routine.

Tony Dovolani and Nene Leakes Fight Over the Foxtrot — WATCH NOW

Last night’s Dancing With the Stars gave viewers a behind-the-scenes peak at all the backstage drama surrounding the show. For starters, Nene Leakes danced with Derek Hough last week, much to the dismay of Tony Dovolani, who didn’t want to hear the inside scoop about Derek’s superior choreography. If you know the show, then you know Derek Hough is the true star, with choreography and moves that far exceed his fellow dancers. And while Tony is certainly talented, it’s just not a fair fight. Watch the drama below.

Stephen Colbert to Replace David Letterman: Jon Stewart Weighs in

In a predictably safe move, CBS picked Stephen Colbert to replace David Letterman, calling him one of the most “most inventive and respected forces on television.” Stewart supports the choice, calling Colbert “remarkable,” and emphasizing that he has “many gears” outside his restrictive Comedy Central format.

While this is certainly a safe pick, I must admit a slight disappointment. With the Late Night landscape changing, CBS could have competed with a fresh new face or a female. They instead chose to stick with their traditional brand. It does beg the question though — If you’re going to choose someone that aligns with Letterman’s style, why not just keep Letterman?

Dave Letterman Announces Retirement — The World Weeps

TMZ just broke the saddest television news I’ve heard in a long time. David Letterman is officially retiring. The iconic host will hang up his hat in 2015, after executing the longest run in late-night history. His late-night career began in 1982 on NBC, and later moved to CBS after NBC chose Leno as Carson’s replacement, leading to a legendary feud between the two.

Today is a sad day.

Mindy Kaling’s Crop Top is not “Courageous”

“It takes a lot of effort to look like a normal/chubby woman.”

Mindy Kaling visited Jimmy Kimmel and gave one of the most honest interviews I’ve ever seen on television. Kaling addressed the many bloggers who deliver backhanded compliments about her weight, calling her “courageous” for wearing a crop top and insisting that she “doesn’t subscribe to the ideals of beauty that other people do.” Kimmel kindly empathized, noting that others are constantly commenting on his weight. Watch below.

Derek Hough and Amy Purdy Dance Contemporary — WATCH NOW

There’s a reason the Dancing With the Stars producers chose Derek Hough to dance with Amy Purdy, and it’s because he’s the best. Derek designed a routine perfectly suited for Purdy, with an increased level of difficulty that only Derek could balance. Watch the delicate dance below.
