Many artists of Paul McCartney’s stature would rest on their catalog, but the most-loved music man has instead stayed current, engaging in frequent collaborations with today’s top talent and touring the world with high-energy, two-hour concerts. He’s now joined Rihanna and Kanye West for FourFiveSeconds, a catchy, artistic tune that we’ll see at tonight’s Grammy awards. Watch the video below.
I generally support the idea of a pop record that is not over-produced bubble gum bull shit, and Taylor Swift reigns supreme with ‘1989.’ Much like Gwen Stefani, I see Taylor Swift as cool, calm, calculated and in complete control of her career. She pens her tunes, she’s perfected her image, and she’s poised and polished in every interview. Plus, people tell me she’s nice, so the girl is easy to get behind. Aside from that little hiccup of hurling public insults at her past lovers, she’s the perfect superstar. And speaking of that hiccup, Swift shrewdly took aim at herself in her new song, “Blank Space,” with lyrics like “Darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream,” and “Got a long list of ex lovers, they’ll tell you I’m insane.” Watch her funny video below.
If you’re sick of seeing asses ad nauseum (see Nicki Minaj, JLO, and Iggy), then take a look at Eric Hutchinson’s video for “A Little More” below. The new single off his latest record,’Pure Fiction,’ is a refreshing reminder that there’s more to music than woe-is-me indie depression and pop-tart hit machines that all sound the same. Watch below, and read my interview with Eric for an inside look at the performer.
It what can only be described as a brilliant, butt-tastic bonanza, Jennifer Lopez released her video for “I Luh Ya Papi.” JLO turned the tables on the endless array of ridiculous male singers who often flood their videos with bikini-wearing women for no reason at all. The solution? Speedo wearing men, of course! Watch JLO prove once again that she’s a reigning diva whose throne is well-deserved.
