If you’re curious about the motivation behind Ellen DeGeneres’ on-air kiss-ass session with Bethenny Frankel, wonder no more! Ellen is the executive producer behind Bethenny’s new daytime talk show. In case you missed it, Bethenny has made the press rounds bashing her ex in a bid to save face a midst the breakdown of her ‘Bethenny Ever After’ enterprise. Though I understand the PR move, I’m generally opposed to a using the media for a vitriolic post-nuptial throw-down. Watch the trailer for her new show below.

Pain & Gain — Movie Review
The irony of this film is it’s about a kidnapping, and I felt kidnapped while watching it. I scoped the exit doors, made excessive trips to the restroom, and solved the mystery about how long it takes for a rasinette to melt into a raisin.
The film is based on a true story about a group of pumped-up dolts who make a fast quest for cash by kidnapping a member of their gym (Tony Shalhoub) who naively disclosed his wealth to his trainer (Mark Wahlberg). The trainer commissions his friends (The Rock, Anthony Mackie), and their idiocy makes for “comedy” when they botch the job time and time again. Call me crazy — but murder doesn’t make me laugh. Sure it had its moments, but the one-note joke about their stupidity isn’t worth a 2 hour film.

Hey Marseilles Releases Heart Beats Video — WATCH NOW
There’s a special place in my heart for Hey Marseilles, who I had the pleasure to interview upon the release of their second album, Lines We Trace. They just released a video for ‘Heart Beats,” a track off the 12 song sophomore record. According to lead singer Matt Bishop, the song is about “the idea that the end of a relationship doesn’t have to mean you can’t appreciate that person still, or appreciate what he or she has contributed to your life and who you’ve become.” Watch and enjoy.

Barbara Walters Retires — THE.END.OF.AN.ERA
This news hit me hard. Barbara Walters is my favorite interviewer in history, and getting an extra dose of her on The View has made for a consistent daily treat. In fact, when she’s not there, I quickly change the channel. I should have predicted the announcement, even though I was holding out hope that she’d pull a Mike Wallace and work for infinity. Her interview-style is um-matched asking short, poignant questions sans judgment, and getting more information than anyone else while doing it. She’s the queen. But this time around, there will be no one else to take her throne. Watch some of her most memorable interviews below.
