LeAnn Rimes & Eddie Cibrian’s Reality Show — WATCH TRAILER

In case you are one of the lucky few who know nothing about the Eddie Cibrian, LeAnn Rimes, and Brandi Glanville drama, here’s the story in a nutshell. “Actor” Eddie cheated on his then unknown wife, Brandi, with the well-known singer LeAnn on the set of their film, ‘Northern Lights.’ Brandi boldly got them back, landing a role on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which instantly escalated her fame far beyond Rimes, whose poor PR choices sank her professional life. Now, Rimes and Cibrian are presumably strapped for work, which can only explain their new reality show. In fact, the very idea that it’s the same genre as Brandi on a less successful franchise, only adds to the embarrassment. As for Rimes’ dig at Glanville in the trailer below, it’s a clear example of why I feel no regret for this less than flattering post.

Did Daughtry Disrespect D-Day? — Singer Apologizes

‘American Idol’ alum Chris Daughtry landed in hot water after the folks over at Fox & Friends requested a song to honor the anniversary of D-Day, and Daughtry bailed, claiming to be “off the clock.” While it’s easy jump on the bashing bandwagon, this has clearly been blown out of proportion. First, Fox & Friends is filled with unprofessional hosts who should have planned this request in advance rather than awkwardly standing around the stage in a clumsy silence. Second, it’s obvious that Chris Daughtry freaked out at the request, which has been confirmed via his apology. He was afraid he’d botch the lyrics, and since he’s a professional, he knew that a failed attempt would be widely circulated. Last, can we stop assuming the absolute worst of people? Watch the video below and judge for yourself. I’d have bailed too.

James Franco Writes About Lindsay Lohan — Bungalow 89

In what I can only assume is a classless attempt to attract attention, James Franco has once again taken aim at Lindsay Lohan, calling her “damaged.” Franco penned a short story for Vice, entitled, Bungalow 89, which revealed intimate details about his experience with the troubled Hollywood starlet. I won’t recount every detail, except to say that the unflattering sequence of events should be sacred, and if someone published my worst moments for the public to peruse, I’d be pissed. As for the trajectory of James Franco’s career and his poor PR choices, I predict he’ll one day empathize with Linday Lohan’s current professional problems.

Jimmy Fallon v. Jennifer Lopez — Whose Pants Are Tighter?

Jimmy Fallon squeezed into his tight, white pants for a stellar song and dance, and Jennifer Lopez joined him. The two tried to take each other down, with revolving turns as to who deserves the tightest-white-pants prize, and JLO treated the audience to a dose of her derriere. Watch below to get a good look at my girl crush in action.

Hugh Jackman Hosts the Tony’s — Raps Music Man

Is there anything Hugh Jackman cannot do? Hollywood’s most valuable power player took on the Tony’s, and he predictably delivered. One of his most memorable moments was his hop hop version of The Music Man, with an assist from LL Cool J and TI.

Train Releases ‘Angel in Blue Jeans’ — LISTEN NOW

Train has returned with the same hit-making prowess that brought you ‘Soul Sister’ and ‘Drops of Jupiter.’ For a band with such well-known tunes, it’s shocking they have yet to land a number one tune on the pop charts. Here’s hoping that will change. Listen to ‘Angels in Blue Jeans’ below, and check out their new record, ‘Bulletproof Picasso’ on September 16.

Poker players flocked to the No-Limit Texas Hold’em Tournament to support the  Saban Community Clinic, with all proceeds helping to provide medical, dental and behavioral health services for over 21,000 low-income and uninsured patients. Originally called The Los Angeles Free Clinic, The Saban Community Clinic opened its doors in 1967 and operated on donations alone. it was renamed after Cheryl and Haim Saban generously donated $10 million. Jesse Elliot Debuts ‘A Picture of The Three of Us’

TUS_THESEUNITEDSTATES
Many years in the making, Jessie Elliot debuted his documentary, ‘A Picture of the Three of Us,’ at the Highland Park Independent Film Festival. The film follows Elliot as he tours the country with his band, These United States, playing 33 shows in 33 cities with 33 different lineups. Elliot was joined by two constants, Tom Hnatow and Robby Cosenza, who, according to Elliot, “[Kept] the wheels on” so “Members of the other band [could] focus on adding to the music rather than holding the song together.”

The movie is directed by Jared Varava, a longtime friend of Elliot. Varava made the noteworthy choice of exclusively focusing on the positive, explaining after the screening that he had no interest in documenting the typical dramatic fights you might see in other films. There was one very moving moment;  however, which involved Robby Cosenza’s relationship with his biological father, whom he hadn’t seen in 17 years. Cosenza casually mentioned their plan to reunite at a show on the road, and his band-mates seemed silently concerned and supportive. While it was certainly a moral choice for Varava to exclude their reunion from the film, it was always curious. Is the purpose of a documentary to actually document the most material elements of your journey, or is it simply to edit together the most flattering film possible?

Jesse Elliot has since disbanded These United States in favor of his new project, Ark Life. Though I’ll miss These United States, this was certainly a thoughtful sendoff. To catch the entire documentary, visit PASTE.

Tom Petty Releases New Single — American Dream Plan B

After much soul-searching, confusion, and conflicted emotions, I’ve come to the difficult conclusion that I enjoy Tom Pettty’s new single. It’s a slightly soulless, contrived attempt at a catchy tune, but it’s catchy nonetheless. According to Petty, his upcoming album is less blues rock and more rock & roll, and it’s three years in the making. Listen to “American Dream Plan B” via Rolling Stone.
