Breaking News: How Sandra Bullock Found out About the Affair

Gosh, this is so horrible.  Here is the breakdown: whenever Hollywood tabloids are going to run a damaging story, the publicist is called a couple of days before the magazine goes to print.  This way, the star is warned and the publicist can do damage control.  In Touch Magazine called Bullock’s publicist on Monday to notify her of the story.  The publicist then called Bullock to break the news.  Bullock reportedly moved out of the house that day.  My guess is that Jesse James immediately came clean.  There has been a lot of speculation that Jesse James couldn’t handle Bullock’s recent career upswing.  If the mistress’ story is true, then the affair went on while Bullock was filming ‘The Blind Side.’  The filming was obviously prior to awards season, so Bullock was just as famous as she always was.  Hence, the theory doesn’t make sense.  I also speculated that Bullock knew about the affair prior to awards season but they held off announcing the split until things settled down.  Popeater has exclusively debunked that theory.  She allegedly knew nothing until Monday. 

Hollywood Truth or Myth: Is There a Best Actress Oscar Curse?

There has been a lot talk from others, including myself, about a Best Actress Oscar curse. I have done my research, and I am here to tell you that there isn’t one.  In the past ten years, six out of ten Best Actress Oscar winners have split with their husbands shortly after winning the award.  Is 60% really a curse?  Here is the list of winners that did not have relationships end after winning the Oscar: Nicole Kidman; Charlize Theron; Helen Mirren; and Marion Cotillard.  Also, let’s not forget when Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn announced their divorce shortly after he won the Oscar for Milk.  That proves that this is not some insane curse meant to punish successful women.

Sandra Bullock May be Part of the Oscar Curse

If the rumors about Sandra Bullock and Jesse James are true, she will join a long line of women that had relationships end after getting an Oscar. So are these men not “man enough” to handle a woman’s success? I doubt it. I think that these marriages were probably over prior to the Oscars, and the couples stayed together to avoid drawing attention away from awards season. See the unfortunate list below.

The Academy Explains Why Farrah Fawcett Wasn’t Featured in the ‘In Memoriam’ Montage

Bruce Davis, the Executive Director of the Academy, has explained that he chose to leave Fawcett out of the “In Memoriam” montage at the Academy Awards because she is best known for her television work, and she should therefore be honored at the Emmys instead.  Keep in mind that Davis has a very difficult job.  Each year, the Academy is notified of members that have passed.  Davis has the heartbreaking task of sifting through the list to determine who should be featured in the montage.  Due to time constraints, it is simply impossible to feature everyone.   Davis has described the process as “agonizing.”  My good friend’s uncle, Howard Zieff, the director of ‘My Girl’ and ‘Private Benjamin,’ was featured in this year’s montage.  I asked her how her family was notified.  She explained that you can call a private number where you are personally told.  This made me realize that Fawcett’s family, who was “stunned” by the snub, might have known prior to the montage that she would not be featured.  It’s possible they just assumed she would be in it though and didn’t call.   

Rihanna’s Performance at the Echo Awards

The internet is abuzz over Rihanna’s interesting performance at the Echo Awards.  The Echo Awards is an annual music awards ceremony in Berlin, and it honors artists from all over the world.  The winners are determined by the previous year’s sales.  See her performance (and red carpet outfit) below.  I should warn you though – a robot is involved.

Red Carpet Fashion: Elle Style Awards

Love it or hate it, here is some of the fashion from the ELLE Style Awards. The ELLE style awards is an awards show hosted annually by ELLE magazine. It’s basically an excuse to get a bunch of celebrities in a room together to promote ELLE. It’s also an excuse for me to look at some fashion picks!

Fashion at the BAFTA Awards

The BAFTA Awards, the UK equivalent to the Oscars, happened on Sunday, and I am sure that there were many newsworthy events. For now, I only care about the fashion. Here are some pictures from the ceremony. Can someone explain to me why Kristen Stewart always looks miserable in pictures?
