12TH ANNUAL WOMAN’S DAY RED DRESS AWARDS

Hollywood’s leading ladies and much-talked-about reality stars saw red at the 12th anniversary of the Red Dress Awards, which honors those who have made important contributions to the fight against heart disease. Hosted by Andy Cohen and headlined by Elvis Costello, the event sheds light on the number one killer of women today. See pictures below.

Rashida Jones Called “Tan” at the SAG Awards

When a TNT interviewer at the SAG Awards hilariously told Rashida Jones she looked “tan and tropical, as if she just came off an island,” she responded with poise, professionalism, and humor, saying, “Well you know . . . I’m ethnic.” Rashida is the daughter of famed music mogul Quincy Jones. Watch below.

Awards Season Fashion Predictions from ‘The Good Fox’

My very talented friend at The Good Fox shared some top picks for our shiniest stars, and it’s worth a read. Check out her website for more inspiring style.

AWARDSFASHION

The 2015 award season has officially kicked off, which means fashion’s finest are revving up for some riveting red carpet styles. With so many designers to choose from, it’s time for some predictions. See below for the top 6 picks for our favorite stars.

1. Balmain Spring/Summer 2015
This look from the ready-to-wear collection is a complete show stopper. In my honest opinion, this look could go down in history. It has the potential to be worn rather conservatively or taken to the other end of the spectrum – let’s say, risqué chic. I’d like to see this on Scarlett Johansson or Jennifer Lawrence. Those ladies would definitely do this number justice.

2. Valentino Spring/Summer 2015
One of my personal favorites from this list is this gorgeous Valentino mint gown. It embodies elegance and playfulness using tulle and sequins, the right way. This fresh look would be great on Lupita Nyong or Emma Watson who both rocked a bold coral color last year at the Golden Globes. Chi City Fashion did an awesome 2014 fashion round-up not too long ago, to refresh your memory.

3. Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2015
This 2015 Balenciaga lavender dress, shown on model Anna Ewers, is perfect for Jennifer Anniston. She typically goes for clean cut styles that fit her body like a glove. I’d like to see her take a bit of a risk this year and try a style with a more eclectic edge.

4. Carolina Herrera Spring/Summer 2015
This pop of color is a must this year and someone has to pull it off. That someone should be Kerry Washington in my book. Scheduled to present tonight at the Golden Globes, I think it’s the perfect moment for Kerry to turn some heads in this elegant, saturated shade from Carolina Herrera.

5. Unique Spring/Summer 2015
As seen on Cara Delevingne on the runway, this look is for the bold. It’s a sheer gold number that would fit perfectly for a star such as Keira Knightly, who typically goes for form fitting silhouettes in gold and sparkly tones.

6. Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2015
Known for typically rocking a bold color on the red carpet, whether dark or light, this look would be perfect for Emma Stone. She can work a solid shade like none other. I would love to see her in this dark, flowy gown from Jason Wu. The color would be heaven against her pale skin.

Retta Kicks Out Seat-Filler at Emmy Awards

I just came across this story, and it must be repeated. Parks and Recreation’s Retta was seated in the second row during Monday’s Emmy Awards and was met with a very annoying seat filler who attempted to engage in irritating conversation with the star, who hilariously live-tweeted the issue. The seat-filler in question later identified himself and allegedly responded with racist insults toward Retta. I believe his account has since been suspended. Enjoy the tweets below.

Michael Jackson’s Hologram Performs at Billboard Music Awards

If I had to describe the Michael Jackson Hologram in three words, I’d call it, mesmerizing, disturbing, and sad. It’s a vivid reminder of his greatness while simultaneously disrespecting a dead man who would have likely rejected such an idea. Jackson was notoriously meticulous about his performances, and I can’t imagine he’d approve. Watch the performance below, and judge for yourself.

ACM Awards — WATCH Keith Urban

Whoever produced this year’s ACM performances had a major misfire. Most of the performance pairings simply didn’t work, with ill-fit harmonies and poorly contrasting genres. On top of that, some of the biggest stars were painfully out of tune, which I can only assume is because they had trouble hearing themselves. I won’t name names, so I’ll merely point out one of the only shining stars of the night, Keith Urban. Watch below.

Katy Perry Sings ‘Dark Horse’ in Bright Colors — Watch BRIT Awards

It’s interesting that Katy Perry is singing about a “Dark Horse,” after being vomited on by high-voltage hues, but who cares, right? In fact, as long as she’s not rolling around the stage performing gross-out gestures (see Miley Cyrus), I’d say her less than desirable aesthetic choices get a pass. Watch below.

Katy Perry Has Miming Meltdown at NRJ Awards — WATCH NOW

Katy Perry had a technical meltdown at the NRJ Awards, and she’s somehow managed to avoid the same wrath handed to Ashlee Simpson for her equivalent SNL fiasco. According to Perry’s team, the wrong backing track was played, forcing Perry to lip-sync.

If you watch the video below, you’ll see that Perry mistimed her mime, which eventually forced the host to come on stage and demand that she start over. Perhaps he knew that the wrong backing track was played and realized that everyone, including her dancers were out of sync? When she began again, she sang live, and the difference in her vocals was astounding.

First, it’s nearly impossible to dance and sing simultaneously, and we’ve become so accustomed to watching both, we forget that the predicted huffing-and-puffing is missing from the audio. Second, we’ve also become accustomed to vocal tuning, which means that we often forget what the singer actually sounds like. Thankfully, Katy Perry gave you a lesson with a wow-worthy before and after. As for how this happened, I’m at a loss. Why would she have two backing tracks, one with vocals and one without? And who hit the wrong button?

Lady Gaga Weeps at YouTube Awards — Watch Now

If Lady Gaga’s tears were authentic during the YouTube Awards, then I’d encourage her to seek professional help. If they were not, I’ve officially had it with the histrionics. Furthermore, I found the entire performance to be unprofessional. At this stage in the game, it’s feels like an inappropriate plea for attention, and it’s off-putting. I fully understand that certain artists will exhibit emotion while they perform. In fact, that’s a large part of Adele’s success (see ‘Someone Like You’). But that’s Adele. And the moment I feel as if you’re pulling my strings to prop yourself up, I will flee your fandom in favor of more moving artists. Watch below.

Ashton Kutcher at the Teen Choice Awards — What the Phuck?

Though I appreciate the striking sentiment, Ashton’s Kutcher’s speech at the Teen Choice Awards seemed laced with a depression-filled enlightenment. I suppose it’s nice that he gave serious advice in a young forum, but it made me uncomfortable. Some words of wisdom included: “Be smart, be thoughtful, and be generous,” and “I’ve never had a job I was better than.” As I write this, it suddenly occurred to me that this all sounds strikingly similar to Steve Jobs’ commencement speech at Stanford. Perhaps his upcoming role went to his head. Watch below.
