Angelina Jolie to Play the Wicked Fairy Godmother in ‘Sleeping Beauty’ Remake?

I just learned that Disney is toying with the idea of revamping ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ with the wicked fairy godmother as the star, instead of sleeping beauty.  Linda Woolverton, the writer for ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ is working on the screenplay.  Disney is also rumored to be courting Tim Burton.  I will definitely get behind this idea if Tim Burton is not involved.  Am I the only person that thinks everyone one of his films is exactly the same.  Let me guess, Burton will sign Johnny Depp to play a character with a weird hat on, and make the film very dark and gloomy.  I do fully support the idea of Jolie as the godmother though.

Yes! John Corbett Will be in ‘Sex and the City 2’

John Corbett was thankfully lying when he said he would not be appearing in the next ‘Sex and the City’ movie.  He apparently will show up somehow in Morroco, though the story line is unclear.  He told Ellen Degeneres that he can finally confirm the news because he will be seen in the trailer.  Personally, I have always liked Mr. Big more than Aiden, but I am all for the men fighting over Carrie.  Watch him break the news below.

Paula Abdul Will Star in Broadway Show ‘In the Heights’

I take back what I said about Abdul’s management team.  It seems she finally made a good decision since leaving ‘American Idol.’  Radar Online reports that she will be starring in the hit Broadway show, ‘In the Heights,’ as Priscilla Lopez.    The show’s story revolves around the lives of Dominican Americans that live in the Washington Heights area of New York City.  It won the Tony for Best Musical in 2008, and a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album that same year.  See a performance from the show below.

‘At the Movies’ is Cancelled

This is a sad day.  ‘At the Movies’ with A.O. Scott and Michael Phillips, has been canceled.  The source of my sadness is really attributed to the memory of Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert in their heyday on this show.  It began with the title, ‘Siskel and Ebert at the Movies,’ and later became ‘At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper,’ after Siskel’s death.  When Ebert had to exit the show due to health reasons, it went through various incarnations until it became what it is now.  Many people are attributing the cancellation to the changing movie critic tide.  Personally, I would like to think that the magic of Siskel and Ebert just couldn’t be recreated.  Also, Ebert took his thumbs with him when he left.  And there’s no one like Ebert.

People Magazine v. Us Magazine: Who Ripped Who Off?

I’m not sure which magazine you will buy this weekend, considering they are exactly the same!  I realize that all of the tabloids are covering Sandra Bullock, but Us Magazine and People Magazine pretty much have the exact same cover, right down to the picture of Sandra Bullock.  How is it possible that out of all the Sandra Bullock pictures out there, the two leading magazines picked the same one?  Someone is guilty, and I want to know who it is.  Even the color choices are the same!  Click on the links below and judge for yourself.  As an aside, this issue was addressed in the film ’13 Going on 30′ once, and the magazine names were changed for the film.  Fast forward to the 3:30 mark in the clip below to see what I am talking about.

‘300’ May be Re-Released in 3D

You might have noticed that many of my posts consistently bash 3D . . . until now!  A theatrical re-release of ‘300’ in 3D is in the works, and the idea of Gerard Butler popping out of the screen (no pun intended) makes me very happy.  So for this . . . I will make an exception to my anti-3D policy.  No word yet on the date of the re-release.  The film isn’t even finished being converted.

Say Goodbye to ‘The Hills’ – This is the Last Season

I have to admit I am pretty bummed that the Kristin Cavallari takeover didn’t work out.  I never really liked Lauren Conrad much, but apparently the rest of America preferred her.  Since Kristen came on, the ratings have declined, and Mtv is pulling the plug.  This upcoming season will be the last.  It should be pretty good though.  Heidi will see her mother for the first time since her plastic surgery, Kristin will address the drug abuse rumors, and Audrina will appear with her current boyfriend, Ryan Cabrera.  Regarding Spencer Pratt, series creator Adam Divello confirmed that he is “dealing with some stuff right now,” but he will definitely appear in the final season at some point.

Lady Antebellum is #1 Again

Lady Antebellum’s album has already sold 93,000 copies, and their single, ‘Need You Now,’ is #1 on the Billboard charts.  That is a pretty big deal, considering their album has been out for 8 weeks now.  Times sure have changed in the music industry though.  Years ago, selling 93,000 records was nothing to write home about.  To put things in perspective, Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ album sold 110 million copies.  I realize he is the best of the best, but Britney Spears’ debut album sold 25 million copies.  How’s that for some perspective?  See them perform the song at the Country Music Awards below.
