Aaron Embry at The Hotel Cafe — Kills It!
There is something very understated and beautiful about Aaron Embry. It’s difficult to explain why some musicians move me more than others, but Aaron Embry accomplished it last night at The Hotel Cafe. And I’m not the only one. The entire room was silenced by his performance. When I attempted to move closer to the stage, I was quickly stopped by some angry sneers from audience members unhappy with my distraction. They were mesmerized. And rightfully so. Strangely, the only person that didn’t seem to realize Aaron’s talents is Aaron. He seemed shy and intimidated by the crowd. Though that’s part of what made him so great, I always fear it’s the humble guys that get buried alive in this industry. You’ve got to have the fight in you, and I can only hope he has enough fight to claw his way into mainstream media.
Attention Tabloids — Leave Demi Moore Alone
Remember the old mantra, “don’t kick someone when they’re down?” Perhaps it’s time for news reporters, tabloid magazines, and blogs to take that advice. It’s bad enough that Demi Moore ‘s 911 call was released to the public (and no — I did not listen to it), but now there’s a plethora of ridiculous speculation about her “washed up career” and her “quest to recapture her youth.” Is this necessary? When people struggle, either reach your hand out or back off and let them heal.
Quote of the Day — Gwyneth Paltrow Still Bathes With Her Kids
“I’ll continue to bathe with my daughter until she’s an adult if she so wishes. I want her to be comfortable with her body, and the best way to encourage that is to show her I’m comfortable with mine.” Gwyneth Paltrow tells Harper’s Bazaar about her decision to bathe with her seven year old daughter.
Gotye on Jimmy Kimmel — Kills it!
Gotye is on his way to super stardom and it’s all because of his song, “Somebody That I Used to Know.” We can all relate to feeling as if the love of our life has become a complete stranger within an instant. Plus, Gotye made the brilliant choice of adding the girl’s perspective to his song. Watch him perform with Kimbra, who I have to give major fashion props to. She looked incredible.
Howard Stern Celebrates Letterman’s Anniversary — Keeps Jay Leno Feud Alive
Howard Stern appeared on Letterman last night for Letterman’s thirtieth anniversary, and he did not disappoint. He kept the Leno/Letterman feud alive, and he even got Dave to utter the words, “If Jay Leno wins the People’s Choice Award it’s as if Charles Manson got paroled.” Stern also reminded the world of Jay Leno’s infamous choice to hide in a closet during an NBC business meeting to find out whether he was Johnny Carson’s replacement. Letterman laughed in confirmation, and Stern told Dave that despite his new judging role on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, he won’t appear on The Tonight Show because of his loyalty to Letterman.
Teen Mom 2’s Jenelle Evans Has Weed-Smoking Freakout
My weed-smoking friends constantly insist that it’s not an addictive drug. I insist it is, but they never concede. So I’ve attached the clip below of Jenelle Evans from MTV’s Teen Mom 2 having a moderate heart attack over the court’s demand that she quit drugs. Watch and learn about the perils of being a stoner.

‘Gossip Girl’ Spoiler — Blair Runs Away While Wolf Gang Plays
Television is the single greatest vehicle to bring an underground musician to the masses. So it’s time to congratulate Wolf Gang, who had his song, “Suego Faults,” featured on The CW’s Gossip Girl. And in case you haven’t heard of Wolf Gang, you can lean more about his brilliance here. As an aside, when will the writers unite Chuck and Blair? They are the single greatest on-screen couple since Brenda and Dylan.
Mutemath’s Video “Blood Pressure” — AMAZING!
I’ve heard that music videos ruined music, but I think that’s just something old people say. In fact, there’s a strong argument that they’ve strengthened it. And to prove my point, I’m posting Mutemath’s video, “Blood Pressure,” from their 2011 album, Old Soul. The band formed in New Orleans in 2003, and the members include: Paul Meany (lead vocals and keyboard), Darren King (drums), Todd Gummerman (guitar), and Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas (bass). Enjoy the greatness!
Vintage Quote of the Day — Justin Timberlake on Britney Spears Cheating on Him
“I’ve had my heart broken plenty of times. Three times, actually. I was fifteen the first time. She cheated on me, and I broke up with her. That’s reason enough, right? ‘Oops, sorry, see you.’ I’d been going with her for a year. The second one I saw for a year and a half. And the third one” – and here he paused, thinking of Spears – “was for three and a half years. It was the same with her as with the first girl who broke my heart and the second. They’ve all gone down the same way. All of them. Three strikes, I’m out. I mean, she has a beautiful heart, but if I’ve lost my trust in someone, I don’t think it’s right for me to be with them. I’m not going to let my baggage with somebody else become my baggage with a new person. But I’ll tell you, man, I have little, little hope. Three strikes. Little hope.” Justin Timberlake told Rolling Stone in 2003 about Britney Spears shortly after their breakup.
