Meryl & Maks on DWTS — Beautiful Foxtrot

Here’s hoping the Chmerkovskiy brothers contend for the title on this season of Dancing With the Stars. Maksim and Meryl Davis executed an exquisite foxtrot, with a dreamy faux kiss for the ladies at home to look at. Watch below.

Dancing With the Stars — Danica McKellar Kills It

Winnie Cooper could win this thing! Danica McKellar danced a beautiful contemporary routine with Val Chmerkovskiy, and their chemistry was palpable. Watch America’s first crush kill it below.

Tony Dovolani v. Carrie Ann Inaba: DWTS Round 1,225

There are a select few professional dancers on Dancing With the Stars who make their contempt for the judging panel quite clear. One such dancer is Tony Dovolani, who has had a multi-season feud with Carrie Ann Inaba. On last night’s show, Carrie Ann critiqued Nene Leakes’ clipped arms, and Tony replied by reminding her that Jive demands it. It’s often been pointed out that Carrie Ann was never a professional ballroom dancer and therefore has no place to critique, but if you watch the video below, you’ll see she’s right. While it might be true that the Jive demands a certain type of style, Nene was exceptionally clipped, and her movements therefore suffered. As for whether it’s professional to talk back to the panel, that’s for you to judge.

Isaiah Washington Returns to Grey’s Anatomy — HOORAY!

Of all the exits on Grey’s Anatomy, Isaiah Washington hit me the hardest. I realize the circumstances surrounding his exit demanded his departure, but nonetheless, he left a hole that the cast never quite recovered from. Dr. Burke served as Dr. Shepherd’s nemesis, with the two often challenging each other’s power at the hospital. Though Owen Hunt essentially took his place, he never quite served the same purpose, and Patrick Dempsey’s character has felt slightly stunted every since. Furthermore, he had great chemistry with Sandra Oh, which has also been unmatched. It’s recently been revealed that Washington will return for a one-episode sendoff of Dr. Christina Yang, and I could not be happier. Here’s hoping his appearance extends beyond that. Hear that Shonda Rimes?

After the Final Rose — Chris Harrison Hits All Time Low

JUAN PABLOIt has always been rumored that if The Bachelors do not cooperate with ABC during their reign, ABC will make it their mission to soil their star. In fact, Jason Mesnick confirmed this in his most recent podcast, in which he admitted to a pressured proposal, along with series creator “Mike Fleiss standing over him waving a check in his face in exchange for such cooperation.” For the first time in history, ABC failed to manipulate its star, whose on-air beating exceeded even my worst expectations.

While I’ve always known that Chris Harrison’s personal paycheck likely justifies his cooperation on this crazy train, I had no idea the lengths he’d go to retaliate. If you missed ABC’s ‘After the Final Rose’ special, Juan Pablo Galavis picked Nikki Ferrell over Clare Crawley, and their post-show interview entailed pummeling questions from Harrison about whether Juan Pablo was in love with Nikki. Though Nikki admitted her love, Juan Pablo did not, and Harrison refused to relent, even declaring Juan Pablo’s love for him. To take it one step further, Harrison said, “I don’t know what I’m looking at,” implying that if their relationship status didn’t involve love, then it was far beyond Harrison’s comprehension. As an aside, Harrison is now single. I’m curious whether he declares love after four months of dating, and I’m even more curious how he’d handle getting sandbagged by a show determined to execute his downfall. As for the mysteriously rude comment Juan Pablo made to Clare, since none of us know it’s content, we can’t judge. Furthermore, it’s curious that Clare was ready to wed this man, and her hindsight judgment is only unfavorable upon rejection. Gee . . . that’s the first time I’ve seen that happen.

I know that Juan Pablo Galavis is a flawed star with issues of his own. I also know he got an unfavorable edit, and that Chris Harrison’s behavior on After the Final Rose was wildly inappropriate. The real lunacy of this show has always been it’s fast-track to love and inauthentic on-air proposals. After years of watching such unnatural courtships, we finally find the guy that simply wants to date the chick he chose. It seems the only person that doesn’t understand what that looks like is Chris Harrison.

Jason & Molly Mesnick’s Podcast — Shocking Secrets from ‘The Bachelor’ Revealed

A little birdie tipped me off to this Jason and Molly Mesnick podcast, where The Bachelor alums dropped huge behind-the-scenes bombshells about the ABC show. You’ll have to listen below to believe it, but the shocking secrets include the incredible amount of pressure placed on Mesnick to propose at the end of the show, and the severe editing to make its stars look better. That editing entailed the infamous Graham Bunn departure on Deanna Pappas’ season, which was edited to appear as if Graham got dumped by Deanna, when in fact it was the opposite. Mesnick also disclosed that he knew Deanna was wrong for him on the overnight date, but the pressure from Mike Fleiss “with a checkbook in hand” was enough for him to ditch his doubts and bend his knee. Dancing With the Stars Sacks the Band

Season 18 of Dancing With the Stars will have a few surprises, most notably the loss of Harold Wheeler and his live orchestra and musicians. In what I can only assuming is a cost-cutting measure, ABC and BBC Worldwide Productions sacked their players. In a carefully choreographed statement, the powers that be released a statement, saying, “Our talented Music Director, Harold Wheeler, will not be joining us for Season 18 of Dancing with the Stars. Since season one, Harold and his band have performed brilliant music in our ballroom for our dancers and the American viewers at home. We are grateful to him and his band for their amazing work and years of collaboration. We wish him the best of luck.”

It’s previously been reported that since most music is so overly-produced, it’s impossible to create a live performance of many well known hits. Translation? Music today is awful, no one sings live, and instead of attempting to uphold artistic integrity, we’re going to fold, save money, and kick out our talented team. Goodbye Dancing With the Stars. This is the beginning of the end.

Kate Gosselin’s Girls Gab on ‘The View’

Kate Gosselin visited The View for another interview with her older twins, and the girls finally opened up, much to the relief of their matriarch, who’s desperate to prove her kids aren’t damaged from their years on reality television. While I have no way of knowing how the constant cameras affected their upbringing, one thing is clear: the ladies of The View did a much better job than Savannah Guthrie, whose attempt to treat the tots like grownups backfired. As for Kate, I’m not sure this teen tour will make her anymore likeable, but it certainly helps. I still maintain that children on reality television should be just as legally protected as children on scripted television, but with the huge influx of this genre, I seriously doubt that movement will gain traction. Watch below to see Gosselin on ‘The View.’
