Dreamworks adapted my favorite toy for the big screen, and its stars came to play at the Cannes Film Festival, where Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick were joined by their hair-raising friends. Enjoy images from the event below.
Meghan Trainor Takes a Tumble on ‘The Tonight Show’
Meghan Trainor took a tumble on ‘The Tonight Show’ at the easiest moment of her complex choreography, making it even more hilarious. To top it off, Jimmy Fallon joyfully joined her on the floor, following by extending a hand and assuring her that “grabbing the mic” is the most complicated part of her choreography. It’s worth a watch, mostly to see Trainor handle the fall with a smile on her face and a good attitude. You’ve got to love the talented pop star for not only giving it her all, but for not looking like every other girl in the business. She’s one of a kind. Watch below.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Reveals Unexpected Romance
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ often surprises us with unexpected deaths or on-set explosions, but last night’s episode proved romance can be just as shocking. In a movie no one saw coming, Meredith got her groove back with Nathan Riggs, after a parking-lot fight turned into a steamy makeout. Alex also professed his love for Jo and re-proposed marriage, only to receive a sad rejection. Watch both clips below.
Michael Strahan’s Last Show on ‘Live’ – Thanks Kelly
Is Michael Strahan making a mistake by leaving ‘Live With Kelly and Michael’ for ‘Good Morning America’? Only time will tell, but at least he can cry into a big pile of money if the career move doesn’t work out. After watching his exit package below, I couldn’t help but feel sad, because Kelly and Michael really did have sweet on-stage chemistry, and life isn’t just about money. He’s moving to another show as part of an ensemble, which apart from the money, feels like a step down. Good luck, Michael. You will be missed, especially since I don’t watch GMA.
ABC Cancels ‘Nashville’ – City Weeps
After four seasons, endless original music, and two new A-list showrunners heading into season five, ABC decided to cancel ‘Nashville.’ Lionsgate TV will shop the show to other networks, but the stars are already taking to twitter to express their sadness. Major Megan Barry also reacted to the cancellation, saying:
The show has been an enormously successful promotional tool for our city, which is why the State of Tennessee and Metro Nashville were prepared to support production for a fifth season the be filmed here. This is a loss for ABC and for the millions of fans across the world who have grown to love this show. We have enjoyed hosting the cast and crew of the show over the last four years and look forward to future opportunities for film and television production here in Nashville.
The news comes on the heels Hayden Penettiere’s announcement that she will enter rehab a second time to receive treatment for postpartum depression. The writers had tailored each episode around Hayden’s first stint in treatment, and it’s likely she timed this decision around the show’s schedule. The show saw various incarnations, as it was originally a story about an aging country star in competition with an up-and-coming act, but it soon became more about the family of Connie Britton’s character, with Hayden’s character taking a backseat. As an avid fan that watches each week, I’m sad to see it go, but at least this means I will no longer have to see Rayne’s angsty teenage daughter Maddie, whose storyline was so irritating it caused me physical pain. Seriously, though. This is a major loss, but it’s not shocking. ABC had previously threatened to cancel the series heading into season four.
Sharon Osbourne Addresses Split on ‘The Talk’
Not one to take news of her split lying down, Sharon Osbourne returned to ‘The Talk’ on the heels of separation from longtime love and father of her three children, Ozzy Osbourne. While sipping an appropriate glass of Lemonade, Osbourne said, “I don’t know where I’m going, who I’m going with. And I just need time to think. And really think about myself, about what do I really want for … Because I’m 63 years of age and I can’t keep living like this.” She’s obviously alluding to Ozzy’s alleged affair with a hairdresser, and her subsequent questions about divorce. Her daughter joined the action by holding a picture of a lemon on Instagram.
Nyle DiMarco Dances in Silence on DWTS
Sometimes a little bragging is in order, especially when your suggestion was incorporated into a major network television show. When I saw deaf model Nyle DiMarco keeping up with his competitors on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ I immediately though they should cut the sound so the audience could view the performance from his perspective. On last night’s episode, they did just that, and the result was captivating. Take a look at my tweet for evidence of my suggestion.
@DancingABC should cut the music for the audience watching @NyleDiMarco so they can hear what he hears

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Duet on ‘The Voice’
My issue with Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s harmonies are similar to their general relationship. It’s a square peg and a round hole, and no matter how much they use the media to convince us of their love, the pairing just seems odd. But perhaps that’s a good thing. After all, Blake and Miranda seemed like a perfectly matched country couple, and that didn’t work. Plus, Gwen has a good track record for monogamy, having only been in two very long relationships for her entire life. Watch their performance of “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” on ‘The Voice’.
‘The Good Wife’ Series Finale – My Full Review
It’s tough to end a television show, and when the creators and writers have long been tied to their characters, there’s a difficult balance between pleasing the audience and keeping one’s creative vision intact. ‘The Good Wife’ finale solidified that sad fact with its sub-par last episode, and the audience erupted in rage. In short, she didn’t get the guy, she left her husband, and she got a hard, literal slap in the face from her counterpart, who she arguably crossed for her own benefit. Did she learn anything or find any sense of real happiness along the way? I’d say no, but at least her long lost love made a post-mortem return in a fantasy scene, and we all got to say goodbye to the beloved Will Gardner (Josh Charles).
While I like the idea of a woman having a “happy ending” that is not dependent on a man, there was no happy ending for Alicia. I found an interview with the creators and listened to their cerebral explanation of the episode’s events, and I can only say that they have lived too long with these characters and lost sight of the big picture. According to Robert King and Michelle King, Alicia’s journey began and ended with a “slap,” the first for her husband and the last for her, as she slowly became the corrupt person that she resented in episode one (i.e. her husband). She looks ahead to the future and marches on sans man, and Jason Crouse (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has disappeared for a less complicated life.
As a lawyer, I resent the notion that zealous representation is corrupt, and I also resent the idea that Alicia’s sense of morality is somehow inversely tied to her ability to advocate for her clients. I believe she became a strong, no-nonsense individual that finally fought for what she wanted in life (a job, a divorce, and a decent love life), and she was not rewarded for any of those revelations. She was punished. It’s no one’s fault, though. Writers and creators just cannot adequately end television shows.
Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik Breaks the internet

It’s always smart to align with celebrities for promotion, and it was clearly a shrewd move for Manolo Blahnik, whose new “9 to 5” boots “broke the internet.” Launched earlier this week, the limited-edition Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik footwear collaboration caps off at nearly $5,000.
