Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will stick with Comedy Central at least until 2013. It’s a good thing too, considering they’re the only real news stations left. They will soon go up against Conan O’Brien on TBS, which everyone is making a big deal about because they are both cable comedy shows. I don’t think it really matters though. Stewart and Colbert have a very specific audience that doesn’t really overlap with O’Brien’s audience. The interesting fight will be Letterman v. Leno v. O’Brien v. Kimmel. Oh yeah – who can forget Chelsea Lately? Just put all the late night folks in a big pit and let them mud wrestle. That’s how I solve everything.

HBO Renews ‘Curb Your Enthusiam’
HBO renewed ‘Curb’ for an eighth season. The actors the show are always on edge about whether Larry David will agree to another season, so I’m sure they are met with the same happiness as I am about this news. Of the renewal, David says “after much soul searching – and by the way, it was nowhere to be found – I have decided to do another season of CURB. I look forward to the end of shooting, when I can once again resume the hunt for my elusive soul. I know it’s here somewhere or perhaps in the rugged mountainous regions of Pakistan.”
Tony Dovolani Takes a Dig at Carrie Ann Inaba on ‘Dancing With the Stars’?
On tonight’s ‘DWTS,’ Tony Dovolani wrote “Tony loves Carrie Ann” on a chalkboard as part of his dance with Kate Gosselin. I found this particularly interesting, because Dovolani and Inaba have had so much friction in the past. In an interview with People, he questioned her dancing expertise, saying “she does not understand what ballroom dancing is. She’s never done it herself.” It’s possible they’ve made up since his interview, and this was just a fun little poke at her. It’s also possible that he still dislikes her and enjoyed the dig. Watch below and judge for yourself.

David Hasselhoff returns to ‘The Young and the Resless’
David Hasselhoff will return to his roots for a “brief run” on ‘The Young and the Restless.’ The Hoff appeared on the soap from 1975 to1982, and ‘Knight Rider’ made him a household name shortly thereafter. Perhaps Julianne Moore inspired him when she returned to ‘As the World Turns,’ right before it went off the air. Soap operas could use this kind of star power to resurrect the struggling medium. More women are working now, which means less viewership. It’s a shame too, because soaps really are the best work for actors. It is a consistent high-paying gig, with reasonable hours.
Crystal Bowersox Feels "Betrayed" by Ryan Seacrest
According to former contestant Katelyn Epperly, Bowersox feels “betrayed” by Seacrest. It appears that he leaked their private conversation to the press to make himself look good. Bowersox apparently wanted to leave ‘American Idol,’ because she missed her son so much, and Seacrest felt the need to expose (to TMZ) how he swooped in and saved the day.
Roman Polanski Victim Wants the Case Thrown Out
Samantha Geimer, the victim of Roman Polanski’s sex crime, has been trying to get the case thrown out for some time. She’s not happy that her name gets dragged through the mud every time Polanski gets mentioned in the press. The court recently denied her request, stating that she doesn’t have any authority to get it thrown out. Given that the case is criminal and not civil, it’s up to prosecutors, and not the victim, to throw out the case. That means Geimer is at a loss. I’m not exactly sure why they would continue to prosecute though, considering Geimer is the only witness, and she might refuse to testify if this actually went to trial.
‘Bachelor’ Winner Shayne Lamas Elopes in Vegas
Well if you can’t find love on ‘The Bachelor,’ don’t worry about it. You’ll find true love in this big bad world all on your own – and get married less than a week later. TMZ reports that Shayne Lamas, Matt Grant’s former fiance from ‘The Bachelor,’ has eloped with Nik Richie from TheDirty.com. I remember Lamas saying on ‘Chelsea Lately’ that part of the reason she and Grant split, was because he wanted to break into the entertainment industry, and she thought he was a banker. Good for her that she found someone to meet those high standards. Her father, Lorenzo Lamas, has been married four times. Let’s hope she doesn’t follow in his footsteps.
Jennifer Aniston Unveils New Fragrance Ad – She’s Naked Again
Dear Hollywood actresses everywhere – stop blaming Hollywood for sexism, ageism, and fatism, and start blaming your fellow actresses. Actresses are constantly whining about the weight, beauty, and age pressures put on them by Hollywood, yet every time I look at a magazine, I see an actress posing nude on the cover. Let me guess – you go to the photo shoot, and the photographer says, “you know what would be really creative? If you got naked with nothing but a tie.” Do you just say yes without thinking twice? Next time you do, think about how, many years from now, or perhaps even months from now, you might put on a little weight, not look quite as stunning, and try and get an acting job. When you find yourself squirming for roles, ask yourself whose fault it is.
Movie Review: Date Night
I loved this movie. Tina Fey and Steve Carell play Phil and Claire Foster, a married couple on a date night gone awry. The trouble begins when the Fosters pretend to be the Tripplehorns in order to secure a dinner reservation. Unfortunately, someone wants to kill the Tripplehorns, which doesn’t work out well for the Fosters. Hilarity ensues when the Fosters fight for their life to prove their not the Tripplehorns. Got that? Ironically, this film is actually perfect for a date night. Watch the trailer below.
Hollywood Truth or Myth: Meryl Streep has won the Oscar Many Times
It’s common knowledge that Meryl Streep gets nominated for an Oscar practically every year. When she loses, most people don’t feel bad for her because she’s won it so many times. The truth? She’s only won twice. Though her sixteen nominations make her a record holder, her last win was 27 years ago with ‘Sophie’s Choice.’ The point? It’s okay to root for her the next time she’s nominated.
