Gossip Girl Promo – The finale is near

Watch the promo below.  It contains all the reasons that the show has been annoying me lately.  I’m hoping that with the Blair/Chuck rift, it will start to get better, because I don’t think the writers are equipped to keep them in coupledom.  They were so overly blissful for so long, that it made my stomach turn.  Ever heard of light and shade guys?  I’m still a loyal fan though.  It will take more than Chuck Bass saying ‘I love you’ over and over again to keep me away.

William Morris Endeavor Fires 4 People over Leaked Email

Nikki Finke of ‘Deadline Hollywood’ is my personal hero.  You can read the full story on her site, but here’s the rundown: an individual named Marcus Washington was working for WME as a “floater.”  He felt that everyone around him curtailed his ability to move up the ladder and, according to Finke (who quotes an inside source from the agency), the fact that Washington is a black man didn’t help his chances.  Before Washington left, he sent out a mass, angry email that was immediately deleted from everyone’s computers.  The damage was done though.  The email was somehow leaked to Finke, who posted it on her site, which led to 4 firings over at WME.  Finke insists that none of the individuals fired leaked the email.  In case you’re not aware from watching ‘Entourage,’ Hollywood agents are known for being the most disgusting bloodsuckers alive.  Hence, any effort by Finke to expose them, makes me very happy.  Ari Emanuel is on the left in the picture below.  He’s the CEO of WME, and the man responsible for the firings.  He’s also the guy that Jeremy Piven’s character is based on in ‘Entourage.’

‘Kick-Ass’ Isn’t Very Happy With Roger Ebert

Roger Ebert gave ‘Kick-Ass’ one star, and called it “morally reprehensible.”  He mostly had a problem with the gratuitous violence of an 11 year old girl, which led to many cracks about Ebert being an old fogey.  In fact, ‘Kick-Ass’ actor Chris Mintz-Plasse, tweeted to Ebert directly, saying “it just isn’t your kind of flick sir.”  In response to the age criticism, Ebert used twitter to say in 16 words what would take most people 500.  He said – “Them: I was too old to get it. Me: My problem was that I got it.”  See the trailer below.

Update: Kick-Ass tanked at the box office on Friday.  It made $7.5 million and is estimated to cap at $19 million.  That’s way lower than the studio hoped.  Roger Ebert reigns supreme.

Lady Gaga Will Appear on American Idol

Lady Gaga announced via twitter, that she will be appearing on ‘American Idol’ on May 5th, just in time for May sweeps.  I’m not sure if anyone told her that the show has gone to shit this season, but perhaps she’ll rescue it.  Either way, I’m hoping for an excellent performance with little to no “mentoring.”  After all, who could top the fantastic advice of Miley Cyrus?

Jenny McCarthy Confirms that Steven Seagal is a Creepy Guy

Steven Seagal’s show, ‘Lawman,’ was shut down amidst allegations that he trafficked women for sex, and sexually assaulted an ex-employee.  Well, Movieline certainly isn’t helping us believe his innocence.  They unearthed an old interview with Jenny McCarthy, in which she detailed a disturbing encounter that she had with Seagal while auditioning for a part in ‘Under Siege 2.’  According to McCarthy, he asked her to sit on the couch and take off her dress.  When she informed him that the role did not call for nudity, he once again told her to take off her dress.  She called him an asshole, ran out of the room, and he followed her to her car to tell her not to tell anyone what happened.  That story is extremely unsettling, but hats off to McCarthy for having the guts to expose him for it early on in her career.

Jay-Z and Betty White – New Couple Alert

I confess that I took some liberties with the title of this post, but the real story is just as exciting.  Betty White will be hosting SNL, with Jay-Z as the musical guest.  Tune in on May 8th to see them in action.  White says she turned down SNL in the past, but she accepted this time because her agent said “he would divorce her if [she] didn’t do it.”  SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels is also thrilled, saying in an interview with USA Today that he “always wanted” her to host.

NBC Only Lost $199 Million on the Olympics

We reported not too long ago that NBC planned to lose $250 million on the Olympics, due to some genius decisions made by network.  Well lucky for them, the grandiose loss is $51 million less than originally predicted.  As a result, Dick Ebersol, the man responsible for NBC’s bidding disaster, is being praised for doing a “great job.”  Wow.  All you have to do for company accolades is lose $199 million.   I might move up the corporate ladder faster than I thought.

Hollywood Remake Alert: Mighty Mouse

I have conflicting emotions about this.  I weep for how creatively inept Hollywood has become, while at the same time singing the Mighty Mouse theme song over and over again.  It’s confusing.  Anyways, Paramount has been interested in rebooting the cartoon for a while now, and they recently amped up their search for a new writer and director.  Though it hasn’t been mentioned yet, I am sure the final product will be in 3D just to torture me.  Watch the title sequence for the 50’s cartoon below, so you too can dream about Mighty Mouse saving the day.

Did Lady Gaga Rip-off Ace of Base?

I was driving in my car the other day when Lady Gaga’s new song, ‘Alejandro’ came on the radio.  As my  hair blew in the sunroof created breeze, I thought to myself, “gosh, this song sounds awfully familiar.”  By the third chorus it hit me!  It’s an Ace of Base rip-off of the song ‘Don’t Turn Around.’  Apparently, I’m not the only person to notice either.  The irony is that Lady Gaga and Ace of Base are the only two out of three artists (Avril Lavigne makes three) in the last sixteen years to score three #1 hits off a debut album.  So is this a copy or just a strange coincidence?  Listen below and judge for yourself.
