George Lopez on Howard Stern: Talks Conan O’Brien & Slams TBS

George Lopez visited Howard Stern today, and the comedy legend revealed some massive secrets behind the infamous late-night war between Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno. While Conan is often thought to be the greatest casualty of the fiery feud, Lopez brought to light something I’ve said from the start. Conan O’Brien is just as guilty as Jay Leno. First, O’Brien took Lopez’s time slot and his dismal ratings meant he was a poor lead-in for Lopez. According to Lopez, he had no say in the decision, and though he was publicly accepting, TBS forced his hand. TBS also asked Lopez to call Conan to convince him to take the job, another move Lopez felt forced to make. Lopez also slammed David Hudson, the SVP of late night and specials, who consistently called-out Lopez’s creative choices, despite “never having sold a comedy ticket in his life.”

It’s insane that Conan came out clean in the Tonight Show feud, especially since the entire debacle began when he pressured NBC to sack Leno, which would be considered evil in any other non-entertainment profession. Plus, he simply didn’t have the ratings. Sure he had a weak lead-in, but if that’s the case, then it’s even further proof of his hypocrisy regarding George Lopez. Listen to Lopez’s very honest account below.

Tony Dovolani v. Carrie Ann Inaba: DWTS Round 1,225

There are a select few professional dancers on Dancing With the Stars who make their contempt for the judging panel quite clear. One such dancer is Tony Dovolani, who has had a multi-season feud with Carrie Ann Inaba. On last night’s show, Carrie Ann critiqued Nene Leakes’ clipped arms, and Tony replied by reminding her that Jive demands it. It’s often been pointed out that Carrie Ann was never a professional ballroom dancer and therefore has no place to critique, but if you watch the video below, you’ll see she’s right. While it might be true that the Jive demands a certain type of style, Nene was exceptionally clipped, and her movements therefore suffered. As for whether it’s professional to talk back to the panel, that’s for you to judge.

The Good Wife SHOCKER — Who Died?

It’s been a tough week for television viewing, and it will take some time to fully recover. First, Scandal painfully killed an endearing lead, then Blacklist burdened their show with excessive deaths, and now — THE GOOD WIFE.

Before I continue, I’d like to say that spoilers are ahead, and if you have yet to discover the shocking news I’m about to reveal, STOP READING. Here goes: Will Gardner is dead. His client went on a shooting rampage which solidified Josh Charles’ exit from the show. And before you blame the writers for such a startling story-line, it’s now become clear that wasn’t their decision. Josh Charles somehow negotiated a four year contract when he entered the series. While most contracts in the business are 6 years, they made an exception for Charles, presumably because they were desperate for him to sign on the dotted line. I also assume Charles made that initial negotiating request because he considers himself a film actor and didn’t want to be tied down to a television series for an extensive part of his acting prime. Plus, he’s newly married. And that’s a whole nother’ bowl of bananas. According to Charles himself, “Creatively, [he] was just ready to move on to the next chapter.”

It’s unclear where the show will go from here, but it’s certainly a bold choice that’s sure to shakeup a solid series. Though I’m angry with Charles for leaving, and the powers-that-be for okaying this contract, I’ll bite my tongue and hope for the best. That being said, I’m taking a break from television for a bit. I’m exhausted.

Jimmy Kimmel Covers Esquire — Talks Jimmy Fallon, Poop, & Pranks

esq-aprcover (1) (1)

Jimmy Kimmel covered this month’s Esquire Magazine, and the late night funnyman gave us an inside look at some behind-the-scenes action, along with some very gross details about his father. Check out some choice quotes below.

On Jimmy Fallon:

My only complaint about Jimmy Fallon is the first name: Jimmy. People get us mixed up all the time. No one remembers which Jimmy is which. Or they think I’m him, which can only make you feel like you should be him. Actually, he says the same thing happens to him. Jimmy. He’s like an athlete out there. He can jump high, act, sing. He’s a true performer. I’m a broadcaster. That’s how I come at this. Not a stand-up, not an actor, not a commentator. A broadcaster.”

About his pranks:

“I always found that it’s not entirely bad, because the victims always tend to come through. They show their humanity. They go beyond their limits—try to help, drive to places that don’t exist, and come back to ask what they should do next, if only to make it all stop. I’m the asshole, yes, but they generally reaffirm their humanity. I always end up recognizing the fact that people are basically good.”

On Rob Ford:

“The truth is, right now, Rob Ford is keeping me in business. There’s new video every day. The mayor of Toronto throwing candy canes at small children. The mayor wandering into a dance club. I don’t even have to write it. I sit back and watch him. He’s pranking the world.”

About his job:

This is the job. The only job for a person like me. I mean, I like to draw. I’m really good at it. I’m a good artist, and I think that’s what I would have done had radio not worked out for me. But here I am. You won’t see me doing anything else in the next twenty-five years.”

About texts from his father:

My dad is fond of texting me pictures of his poop.” He sighs, looks at the phone. “They can be fairly impressive, but it’s always a little stunning.” Simply put: Why? “He’s just proud,” Kimmel says. “But he wants me to beg him to stop.”

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Cover VOGUE

Kanye West is nothing if not determined. He wanted his girl on the cover of Vogue, even if it meant he had to join her for the feat. It’s a pretty clever tactic, actually. Anna Wintour appeased Kanye’s ambition and justified the choice with his personal talent. Everybody wins.

#ILUHYAPAPI ON #IDOL — JLO Kills It

Jennifer Lopez can show just about any girl how it’s done, tearing down the stage with complicated head bobs, dazzling denim, and throw-back kicks. And to top it off, she got a little help from Idol alums Pia Toscano and Jessica Sanchez. My favorite part of her performance was Harry Connick’s hilarious attempt at her choreography. Watch JLO prove once again why she’s the queen of reinvention.

American Idol Top Ten Perform — How’d They Do?

My favorite part of American Idol is Harry Connick Jr., who is the first judge in history to actually give constructive criticism. The other judges take his lead, upping the ante on their opinions. In fact, it gets even better when Harry challenges his sidekicks, especially Jennifer Lopez, who can easily contend with Harry’s critiques when they involve performance-related feedback. Watch two of my favorite judging moments below, including CJ Harris and Jessica Meuse.

Lindsay Lohan v. OWN Producers: Check Mate?

I find the Lindsay Lohan fascination confusing. First, she hasn’t had a successful film in years, and she’s made endless promises to the press about her recovery, most of which are premature. As for Oprah, while her intentions are probably pure, this seems like a lost cause. On her new OWN show, Lindsay has already had fights with production, made excuses for not having a sponsor, and insisted that her troubled friends are still allowed in her life. Watch the clip below to see one of the many heated exchanges.

Lindsay Lohan: “Until I F*** Up, You Can’t Assume I Am Going To”

After living in a New York City hotel for more than a month, Lindsay has finally found an apartment. She asks the production company filming her docuseries for an advance so she can put down the deposit. However, because Lindsay has not committed to a shooting schedule, director Amy Rice and executive producer Craig Piligian question her commitment, which Lindsay explicitly denies. “You can’t pull that s*** with me anymore,” she says. Watch the heated conversation and hear why Lindsay says she felt betrayed.
