Hulk Hogan Said Racist Things: WWE Erases His Legacy

hulkIf you watched Hulk Hogan’s sex tape you’d learn that not only is he a lukewarm lover, but he’s also apparently racist, given a recently released transcript of his use of the N word in relation to his daughter’s dating choices. While the content in question is clearly objectionable, so is having your personal sex-tape exposed sans consent, and later having Gawker release the content of a private conversation that was said while fucking your friend’s wife. As for why Bubba the Love Sponge allowed Hulk to fuck his wife, Heather Clem, no one seems to have an understandable answer. After all, if you’re going to let your wife bang your buddy, at least watch. Hulk sued Gawker for the leak and his friendship with Bubba is now busted, because Hogan had no idea Bubba and his wife were secretly recording the sex act.

There’s a larger, precedent-setting issue at play that no one seems to care about. What we do in private should be protected and taking action based on information that was illegally released means no one is safe. I certainly do not say racist things in the privacy of my home, but if my friends secretly recorded all of our conversations, it’s inevitable that something would cause problems.  Furthermore, sex itself is sacred and extremely private. Sure I might engage in salacious, under-the-covers antics, but that’s between me and my personal playmate, and the entire world is not invited. Having that content released is not only disgusting, it’s an extreme violation. Had Hulk been a women, we’d be singing a different tune. As for his legacy being lifted from all things WWE, we don’t have a time machine, and we all know the history of Hulk Hogan in his heyday. This isn’t Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and though you can scrub the internet, that doesn’t make it right. History is history. That said, Hulk needs some serious help.

Amy Schumer Might be a Trainwreck — But She’s No Skank

Instead of rejecting the word “skank” as some affront on feminism, perhaps we should just insult men more. I get it. Amy Schumer’s not a “Trainwreck” because she’s sluts around town, she’s a “Trainwreck” because in doing so, she’s running from her happiness while simultaneously celebrating her womanhood with random, unemotional sex. Did that explanation make sense? Well if it didn’t, just know that Amy Schumer doesn’t either, given her reaction to the interview below. When an interviewer referred to her character as “skanky,” Schumer was noticeably bothered, and when he furthered his explanation by stating that her desire for men “eclipses all else,” she was also peeved.

I saw ‘Trainwreck,’ and it’s entertaining from start to finish. It’s also refreshing to see a woman unapologetically own the actions traditionally reserved for Hollywood men.  Additionally, Amy Schumer looks like an actual person, so that’s good too. But this over-sensitive, sexism takedown is getting ridiculous, and I’d expect a comedian to take a joke. Perhaps the interviewer missed the point, but his phrasing is more objectionable than his intention, and it certainly doesn’t warrant this viral attack on his approach. Need I also point out that the title of this film is ‘Trainwreck,’ which seems far more objectionable than “skank.” Did I miss the memo on how the word “trainwreck” celebrates women?

Blake Shelton v. Miranda Lambert: The Mud-Slinging Continues

What happens when two dramatic country music stars file for divorce? Press leaks, accusations of cheating, alcoholism, and abandonment, of course. It’s been just days since Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton revealed the end of their marriage, and they’ve since engaged in some unconscionable mud-slinging, courtesy of endless leaks to TMZ. They dodged divorce rumors for years, often criticizing rag mags for the hits on their union, with Shelton even using the hashtag #suckadick in his denial. And while we are all entitled to change our tune and end a relationship that once brought us bliss, please refrain from using the same entity to sling mud that you previously criticized.

I realize that when feelings are hurt and our reputations are threatened, it’s easy to cave and publicly criticize our partner, but I’d like to think that being an adult means we are more evolved than this garbage. My advice to both these clowns is this: exit your relationship with the same dignity you entered it with, and shut up your horrible PR teams. You are acting like petulant children, and you should know better. The public didn’t have the right to know your private business when you were married, and they don’t have a right to know when you’re divorced. And if either one of you feel your reputations are irreparably threatened, just remember that in less than a month the vultures will move onto their next victim.

UPDATE: It appears the country stars got my memo, and are now exchanging silly tweets.

Demi Lovato Reveals “Cool For the Summer” Video: Major Hotness

With an 80’s aesthetic, killer curves, and some seriously sexy moves, Demi Lovato debuted her “Cool For the Summer” video. Though the lyrics are a tad cliche and the hook gets lost in the mix, it’s certainly an eye-catching watch. I don’t think she has a hit on her hands, but she’s close. Plus, it’s refreshing to see an actually sexy body in a video for once.

Kelly Rutherford Loses Jurisdiction: COURTS HAVE LOST ITS MIND

I’m in complete shock for Kelly Rutherford, whose legal nightmare continues. As a lawyer, an American, and a resident of Calfornia, I can’t believe this has happened, and I can only assume her ex-husband was somehow in the court’s pocket. I don’t know this in any real way, but what could explain this travesty?

For those that don’t know, Kelly’s husband was deported, and the court decided it would be in the best interest of their children to live in France since her husband was unable to visit the United States. Instead of finding a viable solution (such as having the children fly to France for the summer once a year), they decided Kelly should fly to France each and every time she’d like to see her children. As a result of their home abroad, the California courts have now decided that since the kids have only visited the United States once in the last year, they no longer have jurisdiction over the case. Kelly calls this a “legal kidnapping by a California judge forcing my children to live abroad for so long that the other countries seize control over their lives.” I’d have to agree. This is an outrageous, unprecedented decision, and it’s abhorrent.
The media’s reaction should be louder. If a US Court can force chldren to another country, thereby relinquishing all their rights in the United States, what of every other American citizen that marries a foreign man? These children are citizens of the United States.

Nick Viall Picks Out Rings: The Bachelorette Clip

To think that some people go their entire lives without finding true love, and Nick Viall has found it twice, both times curated by ABC, and both times on national television. To be fair, he knew this season’s Bachelorette prior to the show’s start, but he sure is a lucky man with an open heart. Are his intentions pure, or is he seeking to extend those fifteen minutes? Something tells me this guy is getting dumped twice, and he had his heart set on setting himself up as the next Bachelor. Unfortunately for him, it’s looking like a lost cause. Plus, he’s not a fan favorite — to say the least. Watch a clip from the finale below.

Taylor Swift Apologizes to Nicki Minaj: “I Missed the Point”

In case there was ever any doubt about women being drama-filled, exhausting people, Taylor Swift’s new apology to Nicki Minaj serves as confirmation. Nicki insists her VMA call-out had nothing to do with Swift, Katy Perry chimed in to double-down on her “Bad Blood” with the singer, and then Swift caved. I realize that there’s a girls-shouldn’t-attack-girls movement going on, but maybe they should. This is petty and ridiculous, and aside from Kanye West, I don’t see men throwing the same temper tantrums.

Taylor Swift v. Nicki Minaj: A VMA Twitter War

If you’re going to poke your fork in someone’s side and then run away, don’t be surprised when they come at you with a spatula. Because Taylor Swift won’t take a hit lying down, she directly responded to Nicki Minaj’s subtle twitter-dig in response to the MTV VMA nomations, after Minaj said, “If your video celebrates women with slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.” Taylor was swift to respond, saying, “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.” Minaj seemed flabbergasted by the cantankerous callout, insisting she did not directly mention Swift. Perhaps Nicki felt her hit was more at the process than the person, and in an effort to circumvent a Swiftie revolt, she quickly backtracked.

Here are the facts: Nicki was in fact nominated, but it was not for the category or video she wanted, and she therefore feels slighted. Is the industry racist? Sure it is. But MTV also sucks, so it’s quite possible their poor taste is responsible for any and all oversights. As for why Taylor Swift gets an insane amount of attention, it’s because her brand is impeccable, she’s kind to her fans, and her music is catchy. If you’re going to be salacious and polarizing (see Nicki Minaj’s bad behavior on American Idol), then you won’t please everyone, and the response will speak for itself.

Chris Young Responds to Blake Shelton Drama

TMZ named Chris Young as a contributing factor to Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s divorce, and the country singer has now responded to the allegations on twitter, explaining that he is a friend with both, and “would never do anything to betray that friendship.” While that’s a nice soundbite, it’s either untrue, or Blake Shelton doesn’t believe it, because I would bet my bank account on the fact that his team leaked the cheating news to TMZ, after being fed up with his name getting dragged through the mud amidst his own cheating rumors. And given that this is one of the fastest divorces I’ve seen, bad blood is believable. As for why Lambert would allegedly cheat, who knows. We aren’t inside their marriage, and there are three sides to every story.
