Grey’s Anatomy Spoiler – Does Alex Die?

Mike Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly confirms via Shonda Rhimes herself, that Alex/Justin Chambers will live. This makes me happy, especially since Alex is really the only Alpha male on the show. Patrick Dempsey is always near tears in every scene, and Owen is such a mess that I’m not quite sure he could knock a guy out if need be.

Grey’s Anatomy Finale: My Review

I confess that I’ve been picking on Shonda Rhimes a lot lately for being too dark.  But if there is anything I’m able to do, it’s admit when I’m wrong.  This Thursday’s finale was extremely dark, but still enjoyable, and it ties the series finale of ‘Six Feet Under’ as one of the best episodes of television that I’ve ever seen in my life.  I’ll also let you in on a little secret: I read the spoilers before watching the show.  Why?  Because I wanted to know who died before I saw it (I was scared of Shonda Rhimes scarring me for life).  Throughout the episode I kept asking myself who deserves an Emmy.  There were so many stand-out performances that I can’t pick just one.  Here’s my list of Emmy worthy scenes:
Sandra Oh: Cristina telling Meredith that she can’t enter the operating room while she operates on Derek.

Ellen Pompeo: Meredith’s plea for the shooter to kill her instead of Derek, followed by her collapse to the floor when she believed that Cristina let him die (per the shooter’s wishes).
Chandra Wilson: Dr. Miranda Bailey’s freak-out realization that Percy would die, followed by the strength of pulling it together for him.

Sarah Drew: Her monologue to the shooter about being “somebody’s daughter” was gut-wrenchingly good.  She also navigated the freak-outs without getting annoyingly over the top.  She’s actually getting mixed reviews on the internet for her performance, much like Katherine Heigl did when she cut Denny’s LVAD wire.  I think she’s on her way to some very great opportunities.

Michael O’Neill: Ah, the evil shooter.  He clearly wins the entire episode.  Whoever the casting director is that found this guy and decided he’d be right for this role, deserves a huge raise and promotion.  When I first saw him on the show I knew he was a decent actor, but who knew he was capable of this?

Grey’s Anatomy Spoiler Alert: I Know Who Dies on the Finale

If you don’t want any idea about who dies on the season finale, stop reading this.  I wasn’t tipped off, and this is merely speculation.  I’d put money on it though.  Why?  Because Miranda Bailey’s love interest, Jason George or “Dr. Ben Warren,” has signed on for a new Shonda Rimes medical show that was just picked up.  That means he can’t do both shows, and I’m guessing Shonda Rimes will send him off in style.  It isn’t like her to let anyone leave happily, and I can’t imagine that she’ll lose more than one cast member in the finale.  Poor Miranda.  I feel bad for Miranda’s character and for Chandra Wilson herself, who finally got a juicy, original story-line, just to have it taken from her after a limited number of episodes.  Even if I’m wrong about the death, I’m certain he’ll leave the show – it’s just a matter of how.

‘Private Practice’ Spoiler – Shonda Rimes Discusses Why She Killed a Main Character Off

Mike Ausiello sat down with Shonda Rimes to discuss why she killed Chris Lowell/Dell off the show.  She said it was a difficult choice to make, but it was a “mutual decision,” based on the fact that it just wasn’t fair to have such a good actor on the show just to “hand out charts.”  First of all, I highly doubt the decision was mutual.  What actor would willingly leave a show that pays him a large sum of money, because his character isn’t going anywhere (oops – I forgot about T.R. Knight.  I’m sensing a pattern)?  Second, was it necessary to kill him off in such a horrible way, leaving a young, orphaned daughter?  This is classic Shonda Rimes.  She takes a great, fun show, and when the writing gets stale, she writes in some bombs, murders, and car crashes.  Go back and watch the first season of ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’  It was a fantastic show that didn’t make you want to cry and jump off a cliff by the end of each episode.  Plus, I liked Dell.

Spoilers on Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl, and Private Practice

On Grey’s Anatomy, Mark is evidently going to try and get Lexie back. Does this mean that we’ll never see that awful blonde hair on the show again? Shonda Rimes tells TV Guide that “there is a very surprising, very lovely moment coming where Mark takes a stand and makes a play for Lexie.”

Gossip Girl fans can either rejoice or get angry. Billy Baldwin will return to the show to stir up trouble. Because the show films in New York and he lives in Los Angeles, his appearances will be scattered.

Does Maya die on Private Practice?  Apparently not.  Someone will though.  Keep the guesses coming and watch the promo below for a hint.

Ellen Pompeo May Leave ‘Greys Anatomy’

Ellen Pompeo said in a recent interview that she will likely leave ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ when her contract expires in 2012.  I understand that eight seasons is a long run, but if it were me I would ride that gravy train for all it’s worth.  Pompeo should go for coffee with a soap opera star.  Soap actors stay on those shows for 30 years sometimes.  The work may not be artistically fantastic, but the pay sure is great.  To each his own, I suppose.

Patrick Dempsey May Leave ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Deadline reports that Patrick Dempsey’s contract is up at the end of next season, and he is seriously considering leaving the show.  Like Katherine Heigl, his film career has taken off since the show began, and he reportedly wants to focus on some leading man roles that he has in the pipeline.  As an aside, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ sounds like a pretty miserable place to work.  Though the actors insist that they are like “family,” something tells me that’s a lie.  First you had the Isaiah Washington scandal, then T.R. Knight begged to get out of his contract, and finally, there was that endless drama with Katherine Heigl.  Now – Patrick Dempsey wants to leave!?  What are they not telling us?
