LeAnn Rimes Debuts “The Story” — WATCH NOW

Despite the fact that she blocked me on twitter, I am in fact a fan of LeAnn Rimes, if only for the voice alone. The direction of her current career faces challenges, especially after the fallout of her affair with now-husband Eddie Cibrian, and some less than stellar social media behavior. But a good voice rises to the top, and she certainly has one. In her new video for “The Story” Rimes emotionally covers the Brandi Carlile tune while rolling around in a mirror maze. And while it proves she’s got singing chops, it would be nice if the video was a tad more creative. It’s as if LeAnn finally discovered she’s hot and wants to remind everyone else about it . . . constantly. We get it. You’re hot, you have a killer body now, and you can certainly out-sing the best of them. Now push outside the close-ups and emotional face shots. I didn’t like it on Gwen Stefani’s “Used To Love You,” and I certainly don’t like it here.

Britney Spears Debuts “Make Me Video” — Proves She’s Stuck in 2006

When word broke that Britney Spears’ team ditched David LaChapelle’s video for her new single, “Make Me,” in favor of a concept with a beginning, middle, and end, I thought they were likely correct, especially since clips of the LaChapelle video seemed . . . odd. But the new video isn’t any better. Though I’m a huge fan and she certainly looks great, you can’t help but think of Taylor Swfit’s team, and how each and every one of her videos is high-concept, high-fashion, and extremely creative (see “Blank Space” for example). To quote my music industry friend, Spears’ team “still thinks it’s 2006. To put it simply, her team just isn’t creative. If I were giving Larry Rudolph (her manager) advice, I’d tell him to hire Derek Hough, because he has a history working with just about every temperament, and he pushes boundaries. This dated aesthetic and concept just doesn’t fly today. It’s time to take it to the next level. Sure she can ride her previous horse into the sunset for eternity, but she can also do better. And I hope she does.

The Rock Calls Out His Male Co-Stars for Bad Behavior

It’s unclear that got The Rock’s very large pants in a pretzel, but Dwayne Johnson had some harsh words for his male co-stars on Fast & Furious 8. Though he complimented the studio, the crew, and the women, he did not have the same kind words for the male leads, saying they did not conduct themselves as true professionals. According to TMZ, this is a product of dueling egos and the other actors take issue with his ambiguity. If you’re going to imply misconduct, you might as well say a specific name, so as not to implicate everyone.

It’s an interesting approach to conflict, and though I like when actors get real, I need not remind The Rock that every profession on the planet comes with some level of co-worker conflict, and actors are no different. If we all had the freedom to run through corporate America screaming “No Fair,” there would be chaos. Maybe he should complain to HR. Oh right . . . HR is facebook.

Kendrick Lamar Debuts New Reebok “Classic” Campaign

When you think of Reebok, you might have memories of your mother’s closet from the eighties, along with those Jane Fonda thong leotards (or perhaps that’s just me). So who better to re-brand the classic shoe than Kendrick Lamar, whose sheer presence alone ups its cool factor exponentially. It’s a smart move, and in a world where NIke and Puma are using celebrity to step up their game, I’d say Reebok just majorly scored.

Mariah’s World Trailer — WATCH NOW

Is it wise for Mariah Carey to take fans inside her world, especially when that world is rife with diva demands, an abnormally large staff, and a leotard while sprawled across pillows? Perhaps the trailer below is a soft representation of a more down-to-earth woman that we’ll see when the show airs, but I certainly cannot help but wonder if this is a terrible move. At least she gives you a glimpse of her controversial new rep, who’s to blame for this “docu-series.”

NEW Clips From ‘Botched by Nature’ — WATCH NOW

Remember when Terry Dubrow’s wife Heather asked him to spend LESS time working and MORE time with the kids during filming of ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’? Well, given that he’s now landed a THIRD show, something tells me he ignored the request. Having said that, I sure am excited for a new version of ‘Botched,’ this time called ‘Botched by Nature,’ which follows famed doctors as they travel around the country to help people who suffer from abnormalities that DID NOT result from going under the knife (such as congenital abnormalities and accident victims. The that hardly qualifies under the term “Botched,” it’s a spinoff, and catchy titles are all the rage. Watch a few clips below, and tune in to the show every Wednesday at 9PM ET/PT.

Mario Lopez Out of the Running for ‘Live’ Gig?

mario-lopez-mario-lopez-extraPerhaps the guy that cheated on his fiance during his bachelor party and subsequently cheated on his long-time girlfriend is not the most “loyal.” Mario Lopez landed in hot water for coyly implying his candidacy for the coveted role beside Kelly Ripa on ‘Live With Kelly.’ When asked by Ellen DeGeneres about the status of the daytime gig, he flashed his dimples and simply said he “loves Kelly.” This reply allegedly infuriated his current employers at Extra, along with the producers behind live, who object to using the untruth as a self-promotional tool. Plus, Lopez is apparently tied to extra under a three year contact, so he’s not going anywhere. So did his devilish charm nix his chance, or was he simply never in the running at all? Who’s to say, but Lopez is a little too robotic for Live’s conversational format anyhow.

Famously Single: Calum Best v. Brandi Glanville

If you’re a fan of ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,’ then you know Brandi Glanville, and though she can come across as prickly, she’s debuted her softer side on ‘Famously Single,’ where she’s engaged in a fleeting showmance with bad boy Calum Best. Best has tried hard to change his image, but after watching the clip below, it’s clear he not only needs emotional help, he might also need an intervention. No one likes an angry drunk, and they certainly don’t like the angry drunk who yells at the sweet girl and hits on her friend. Watch below.

Kanye West Teams With Balmain for “Wolves” Video

Kanye West has always tried to fuse fashion with music, and perhaps he found the perfect collaboration while promoting “Wolves” with Olivier Rousteing’s Fall 2016 line for Balmain. According to Rousteing, he wanted to create a campaign around Kanye’s lyrics, music, and aesthetic. Of course, the video always features Kanye’s wife and muse, who wore her arresting Balmain dress from the 2016 MET Gala. The video for ‘The Life of Pablo’ track was directed by Steven Klein and art directed by Pascal Dangin of KiDS Creative. According to Vogue, the models include: Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jon Kortajarena, Ysaunny Brito, Josephine Skriver, Chico Lachowski, Jordan Barrett, Ronald Epps, Sasha Luss, Riley Montana, and Dilone. I think it’s safe to say Kanye finally found a way to merge art forms, and it’s refreshing that it did not involve his own clothes. There’s a way to fulfill one’s passion that actually produces an aesthetically pleasing result for all parties involved.
