The Killers Release ‘Shot at the Night’ — Make the 80’s Jealous

Don’t look now, but The Killers transported themselves to the 80’s for their new song, ‘Shot at the Night.’ The song is one of two original tracks on their upcoming greatest hits record, which will feature their most-loved music. Check it out November 11th, and listen to their new song below.

X FACTOR DEBUTS — In a Dying Format?

Though I think Simon Cowell made all the right decisions with his new panel, I have to admit a general fatigue with this format. There’s something unsettling about gathering a group of ladies who can no longer make money in this tanking industry and paying them large salaries to judge up-and-comers who, no matter how talented, won’t be able to sell records. Everyone knows the only way to make money is on tour, and the amount of performers that can sell-out stadiums is becoming incredibly scarce. That means that the only people who can likely make a dime are the over-the-top pop tarts, and those stories don’t translate as well as the video below, which shows a boyfriend/girlfriend duo that would likely be a huge success if the music industry were in a different place. Until Simon Cowell comes up with an idea to save the music industry, I’ll consider this format — and him — DATED. Watch Alex & Sierra perform Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ below.

Simon Cowell on Britney Spears: “She Couldn’t Talk”

Britney SpearsWhile I appreciate honestly, I’m not certain this was necessary. When asked by Ellen DeGeneres about Britney Spears, Cowell confessed to nixing her contract, saying, “I didn’t realize that. I kind of booked someone who couldn’t talk, which is a bit of a problem when you want someone to judge.” He went on to explain that Spears was generally uncomfortable with the entire process, disliking the overall negativity associated with the talent competition. I supposed there’s a lesson to be learned here. Perhaps producers should focus less on stunt casting and more on judging. And since The Voice, X Factor, and American Idol have yet to produce a huge star in years, it’s also possible the format is dying.

Harry Connick Jr. Joins American Idol — Fox Gets it Right

For the first time in years, American Idol got it right. Harry Connick Jr. will officially round out Fox’s new panel, as the third judge. The news shocked me, mostly because Connick has consistently rejected any judging offers, which means American Idol and the high-class crooner had an excessive courtship. Connick has had a number of well-received guest stints, but this is his first appearance as a permanent panel member. He’ll be joining Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban for a powerhouse threesome. Watch one of Connick’s guest-stints below.

Adrienne Bailon Insults Britney Spears — Who is Adrienne Bailon?!

Back off Britney, Bitch! Adrienne Bailon boarded another fame train to propel her own, moving from Robert Kardashian to Britney Spears, claiming she worked at X Factor and Britney “can’t hold a conversation.” The panel then heartlessly claimed her mental meltdown can be attributed to “karma,” since Kevin Federline was in a relationship when they began dating. In related news, I find it astounding that a panel of talentless unknowns would take pleasure in shining a spotlight on someone’s mental illness, and then claim she deserved it. The only incoming karma is for their inexcusable attack on someone during the worst time of their life. Here’s hoping these bloated divas have no skeletons. Because if they do, they’ll be hearing from me again.

Anthony Weiner’s New Problem: BARBARA MORGAN

What’s worse? Using Anthony Weiner’s ridiculous campaign to propel your own fame after working as a thankless intern, or being high on his totem pole (no pun intended) and hurling profanities to a journalist? I’m on the fence. In case you missed it, Anthony Weiner’s communications director, Barbara Morgan, wasn’t too pleased when his once intern, Olivia Nuzzi, revealed inside campaign information in a presumed bid for her fifteen minutes. When asked about it, Morgan unleashed a hateful tirade, using words like c***t, slutbag, and twat. When her rant drew criticism, Morgan claimed she thought the conversation was off the record, which the outlet later denied. She has since apologized. But judging from the video below, it seems Barbara Morgan has some work to do. I never thought I’d say this, but can someone bring the class back to campaigning?
