Idol Gives Back – The Debacle

I have to give a shout out to Andy Dehnart of Reality Blurred for his coverage of ‘Idol Gives Back.’  He basically said everything I was thinking and made me laugh hysterically in the process, so click the link below to read it.  I’ve also posted some videos from the show that you can watch at your own risk.

HULU Will Charge – The World has Come to an End

I reported a couple weeks ago that HULU was on its way to becoming a paid subscription service.  Well, the end is near.  Networks are simply  not making enough money from HULU, and they fear that it’s watering down their audience.  Studies also show that people are canceling their cable subscription to watch these shows online, which depletes the networks’ main source of ad revenue.  Though I’m sad about it, I am one of the culprits that forgos cable to watch free shows online, so I guess I can’t complain.  I’m posting a random clip from HULU below, for no reason other than to get as much out of the site as possible before I have to pay for it.

‘Glee’ – Madonna Sequel on the Way

Michael Ausiello confirms that ‘Glee’ will devote another episode to the Queen.  It will happen next season, and will feature six more Madonna songs.  This is probably a great decision, given that I can’t seem to go anywhere without someone asking me if I saw Tuesday’s episode.  Yes I saw it and yes it was great.  I’m posting my favorite song from the episode below.

The Late DJ A.M. Has a Cameo in ‘Iron Man 2’

This certainly defines the word bittersweet.  Adam Goldstein, also known as DJ A.M., will appear in ‘Iron Man 2,’ as the DJ at one of Tony Stark’s parties.  Director Jon Favreau and Goldstein were friends, and Favreau chose to leave the scene in as a tribute.  Favreau said, “we tried to make it respectful, and for people who know him, they’ll get a kick out of it and for people who don’t, it will sort of slide by without much notice.”  I credit Favreau for leaving it in.  It’s a tough decision because it could be perceived as distasteful.  Good job.

Heather Locklear’s Hit and Run . . . with a Road Sign??

This story is just ridiculous enough to post.  Heather Locklear hit a road sign and drove off, which is apparently classified as a “hit and run.”  What’s funny is that the press is making this sound as if she actually hit another human being and then drove away.  Is this a bad forum to admit how many road signs I’ve hit?  Next time I accidentally bump a ‘no parking’ sign with my car, should I leave a note with my number so that the sign can call me for damages?  It’s all so confusing.

Brooke Shields Isn’t Happy with Andre Agassi

While promoting his book, Andre Agassi claimed that Brooke Shields read the parts of the book that involved her, prior to its release.  Well, Shields isn’t pleased.  In an interview for Easy Living Magazine, she said  “He made me sit in a room with his ghost writer and read what the writer had written.  And of course he wouldn’t change anything I remembered differently, so I was like, why did I read it then? So you can tell everybody, ‘She read it.’? Which means, ‘She’s put her stamp of approval on it?’ I didn’t put my stamp of approval on anything. It wasn’t what I remembered.  I don’t know why he wrote the book, I’m not sure he’s gotten the reaction he hoped for.”  Yikes.  I guess you can’t expect an ex-spouse to be too happy with you about anything.  The biggest dig in her comment though is that he used a ghost writer.  Though it’s an unspoken truth that celebs use ghost writers, publishers still hope to keep it on the DL.

Mtv Isn’t Involved in the ‘Jersey Shore’ Spinoffs

Mtv released a statement explaining that they have nothing to do with the ‘Jersey Shore’ spin-offs.  The original advertisement said “from the people that brought you ‘Jersey Shore,'” which accounts for the confusion.  To clarify, the spin-offs are from the same production company, but it will air on a different network.  Summary?  It has nothing to do with Mtv.  In case you missed the advertisements, you can see them below.  The shows are tentatively titled “Persian Version” and “Wicked Summer.”  Gosh, I can’t wait.

“If you are at least 21 years old, appear younger than 30, and are outrageous, outspoken and a proud Persian-American, then Doron Ofir Casting and 495 Productions are looking for you!”

George Lopez Insists that he Wants Conan on TBS

George Lopez went on CNN to debunk rumors that he was secretly pissed about Conan moving into his time slot.  He also confirmed that Conan graciously called him to make sure that he had Lopez’s blessing, and that TBS would not have made the offer without Lopez giving his okay.  I believe Lopez.  Conan is a bigger star than him, and therefore makes a great lead-in.  It only makes sense that Lopez would welcome him.

Comedy Central Locks in Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Till 2013

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will stick with Comedy Central at least until 2013.  It’s a good thing too, considering they’re the only real news stations left.  They will soon go up against Conan O’Brien on TBS, which everyone is making a big deal about because they are both cable comedy shows.  I don’t think it really matters though.  Stewart and Colbert have a very specific audience that doesn’t really overlap with O’Brien’s audience.  The interesting fight will be Letterman v. Leno v. O’Brien v. Kimmel.  Oh yeah – who can forget Chelsea Lately?  Just put all the late night folks in a big pit and let them mud wrestle.  That’s how I solve everything.

HBO Renews ‘Curb Your Enthusiam’

HBO renewed ‘Curb’ for an eighth season.  The actors the show are always on edge about whether Larry David will agree to another season, so I’m sure they are met with the same happiness as I am about this news.  Of the renewal, David says “after much soul searching – and by the way, it was nowhere to be found – I have decided to do another season of CURB.  I look forward to the end of shooting, when I can once again resume the hunt for my elusive soul.  I know it’s here somewhere or perhaps in the rugged mountainous regions of Pakistan.”
