Kelly Ripa Returns With Classy, Funny Monologue

Live With Kelly and Michael
Kelly Ripa returned to ‘Live With Kelly and Michael’ after a press firestorm surrounding Strahan’s abrupt departure to ‘Good Morning America.’ Though it might seem impossible to make light of a difficult situation, Ripa stayed true to her classy form with some funny jokes and genuine honesty. She said she deserved to take two days off after over two decades with ABC, and she’s been assured that her show is in fact a priority. She also said there were snipers with tranquilizer darts ready in case she went off script. Strahan seemed to take it in stride, once again assuring Ripa that she is the Queen and he’s honored to have worked beside her. Their love-fest was short-lived; however, because it’s recently been revealed that Strahan will leave earlier than expected.

In everyday life, when one is upset with the executives in charge, he or she might call in sick in silent defiance and fly under the radar. Ripa is not given that same luxury, because the world is watching. I’ve previously noted that she has been given sexist treatment from the media and I still must tip my hat to her maturity. As for Strahan, I don’t blame him for taking a higher-paying job, but I think it’s the wrong move. To quote Andy Cohen, when your name is in the title of a show, how could you forgo that in favor of an ensemble? It must also be noted that Ripa can find solace in the fact that ABC will be punished for their poor, disrespectful move, because it has impacted Strahan’s squeaky clean image, which will make it more difficult to win viewers at his new post. So good job, guys.

Mariah Carey v. Jennifer Lopez: Timeline of a Feud

JLO MARIAH

Despite my consistent digs at Mariah Carey, I’m a longtime fan, and I remember the original Mariah as a down-to-earth girl from New York that was in over her head in an unhealthy marriage, which simultaneously shackled her creativity. As soon as it ended, her real personality came through, and she became ever-the-more likable. Then . . . something changed. My guess is that the superstar could not adjust to the changing tide of social media, and she might also have thin skin. Her fashion choices stayed stagnant in over-the-top, glamorous gowns and her attempt to brush-off controversial questions resulted in an out-of-touch hand waves with excessive “Dah-Lings.” And for some time, that was Jennifer Lopez’s problem too. Anyone who has been in this business for over a decade is well aware of the drama that surrounded Lopez’s original team and their untouchable diva demands, which were often unknown by Lopez herself. She admits to making serious adjustments, and the impressive about-face was shockingly effective. After all, if her career can survive that Bennifer debacle, it can survive just about anything. So why did Lopez change and Mariah didn’t? Again, my guess is she cannot accept criticism, and in a recent on-the-street interview, she once again took aim at Lopez. As it turns out, Mariah might have reason to resent Lopez, but you’d never know it from her limited explanations, and as far as the public’s concerned, she just seems mean spirited. Here’s a timeline of their feud, and the reasons behind it.

2001: Jennifer Lopez allegedly stole Mariah Carey’s idea to sample Yellow Magic Orchestra’s “Firecracker” for JLO’s hit song “I’m Real.” Mariah had planned to use the song for “Loverboy,” but Lopez beat her to the punch. Rumor has it Carey’s ex-husband Tommy Mottola got wind of Mariah’s plan and orchestrated the theft for Lopez, who was his artist at the time.

2002: When asked about the stolen sample, Mariah said, “Let’s just say they did me a favor. And they know who they are. And thank you, sweetie. And your friend who did it with you!” Sources suggest that the “sweetie” in question is Jennifer Lopez, and the shady business gave Carey leverage to make an early exit from her Sony contract, which resulted in a huge new contract with EMI/Virgin.

2008: In an interview with a German television show, Mariah sang the praises of Beyonce, but when asked about Jennifer, she infamously said, “I don’t know her.”

2015: Mariah explains she was “just being honest,” and really doesn’t know Jennifer Lopez

2016: Mariah “Still doesn’t know Jennifer Lopez”

2016: Jennifer Lopez visits Watch What Happens Live and won’t take Andy Cohen’s bait. She continued to deny any ill-feelings toward Mariah.

Why Amber Rose’s Ass-Play Dig at Kanye Was Homophobic

When Amber Rose indicated Kanye West might prefer ass-play in the bedroom, I was bothered, but my objection was more about the childish exposure of his personal preferences rather than the latent homophobia on hand (pun intended). When Kanye West denied it, I also felt uneasy. First, what’s wrong with ass-play? To each his own. And second, why dignify the “dig” with a public declaration.
It wasn’t until Andy Cohen came forward and expressed moderate outrage at the idea that a penchant for ass-play makes one perverse, that I began to think outside the box (pun also intended). It was then brought to my attention by a certain music insider that Kanye West is in fact the worst person to be involved in this exchange, given that he’s actually an LGBT advocate. Ever wonder why you don’t hear the word “faggot” in hip -hop songs anymore? Well . . . we have Kanye to thank. During an interview with MTV ten years ago, West called upon the hip-hop community to cut out its anti-gay antics, saying hip-hop “has always been about “speaking your mind and about breaking down barriers, but everyone in hip-hop discriminates against gay people.” He was one of the first to speak out, and its use has drastically declined since.

So what happens when the man who advocates for equal rights is exposed as someone who also enjoys some digital delights? Perhaps he should have just remained quiet, closed his bedroom doors and continued to do what he likes, but the far better move would be to unite with Andy Cohen and call out the comment for what it is — homophobic.

Did Andy Cohen Just Call Amber Rose a Bigot?

When Amber Rose exposed Kanye West’s love for a certain sexual act in response to Kanye dragging her into his fight with Wiz Khalifa, many things occurred to me, none of which were that it was insulting to gay people. But leave it to Andy Cohen, the man on the pulse of pop culture to provide a little clarity. When asked about the incident, he said, “I actively don’t care. I just think it’s interesting that it seems like sticking a finger up someone’s butt is the biggest insult these days. That seems like a cultural sign of the times.” And there you have it.

Elizabeth Hurley on WWHL: Talks Hugh Grant

After her current “best friend” and former flame of 13 years exposed intimate details about their fizzled sex life, it was Liz Hurley’s turn to tell her side of her failed relationship with Hugh Grant, and she took a much classier approach to her answer. Hurley simply said Grant was a little too grumpy for her liking, and although it’s charming in doses, it’s not sustainable 24/7. Watch below as delightfully plays along with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live’s “Plead the Fifth.”

12TH ANNUAL WOMAN’S DAY RED DRESS AWARDS

Hollywood’s leading ladies and much-talked-about reality stars saw red at the 12th anniversary of the Red Dress Awards, which honors those who have made important contributions to the fight against heart disease. Hosted by Andy Cohen and headlined by Elvis Costello, the event sheds light on the number one killer of women today. See pictures below.

Jenny McCarthy Dishes on Donnie’s Penis

Jenny McCarthy delivered some dynamite deets on Donnie Wahlberg’s bedroom behavior, most notably the shape, size, and color of his manly member. If only this version of McCarthy had voiced her voracious sexual appetite on ‘The View.’ Watch below to see McCarthy tell Andy Cohen, Tom Bergeron, and the entire Watch What Happens Live audience about Donnie’s man meat.

Dane Cook Has Had a Lot of Gross Groupie Sex

Dane Cook is a clear example of a comedian that should have landed an A-list lady in his prime, because he’s now the guy with a dirty p*nis that f*cked hundreds of groupies and insults Jessica Simpson for sport. Perhaps I’m humorless, but I feel defensive of the reigning fashion diva whose managed to make nearly a billion dollars. If she’s “dumb,” may we all forgo a few brain cells for her success. Also, leave it to the press to pounce on Dane’s insult instead of the alarming amount of groupies he gave it up to. That is GROSS, and he should soak his sausage in boiling water.

The View Returns for Season 18 Refresh: How They’d Do?

The ladies of The View returned with a new look, a new panel, and a tiny table. It’s too soon to judge their chemistry, but the ratings speak for itself. The debut garnered an 8-year high in total viewers, and a 3-year high in key demos. As for the standard concerns, there’s a few noteworthy elements. First, Rosie O’Donnell was on her best behavior, with the exception of an acerbic, random attack on Woody Allen, which was clearly not on the hot-topic list. It’s an easy guess that the outspoken comedian’s restraint will wane quickly. Rosie Perez was a standout star, speaking her mind with sass and conviction, and Nicolle Wallace found an opportunity to insert her political perspective, of which we’ll hopefully see more. As for Whoopi, she’s a signature staple, properly steering the ship on all key points. The only issue so far is their failed attempt at a fun factor, and my advice to The View’s new producer is to steal a writer from Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, because their attempt at an on-air game was awful. Watch the clip below to see the panel in action.

Andy Cohen’s Joan Rivers Tribute — WATCH NOW

Of all the Joan Rivers tributes circling the web, the Watch What Happens Live montage below got me the most. Rivers visited Andy Cohen’s clubhouse on numerous occasions, showing her sharp wit, comedic timing, and sweet soul. Watch to see a great mash-up of material, along with Rivers’ take on returning to The Tonight Show after 28 years, courtesy of the great Jimmy Fallon who finally broke the infamous Johnny Carson ban.
