Movie Review: Iron Man 2

The great Robert McKee says that you can tell within the first ten minutes of a film whether you will like it overall.  That was certainly the case with Iron Man 2. Before you read further, please be aware that you don’t have to worry about me revealing plot details, because there simply isn’t a plot.  Here’s the “story” in a nutshell: Robert Downey Jr. is an ego-maniac that women want to sleep with, and a certain disturbing looking individual hopes to kill. Why? Who knows. Perhaps you should go see the movie and alert me if I missed something.  I also finally understand why there were so many rumors about a Gwyneth Paltrow/Scarlett Johansson feud.  If I were Gwyneth, I would be infuriated by Johansson’s character.  There is absolutely no reason for her existence, other than to be a hot chick that draws men to the theater.  In fact, for mostly all of the film, she stands next to Gwyneth Paltrow and caters to Tony Stark, which pretty much invalidates the purpose of Paltrow’s character.  I really did hope this film would be good.  I loved the original, and was very excited for the follow-up.  But as my brother pointed out, sequels that are released so close to the original film, are usually terrible.  They are too rushed to be of high quality.  I would still encourage you to see the film though – Robert Downey Jr. sure is yummy to look at.

Comedian Frazer Smith interviewed Robert Downey Jr. at the Los Angeles Laugh Factory, and it’s pretty funny.  Watch below.

Grey’s Anatomy Spoiler Alert: I Know Who Dies on the Finale

If you don’t want any idea about who dies on the season finale, stop reading this.  I wasn’t tipped off, and this is merely speculation.  I’d put money on it though.  Why?  Because Miranda Bailey’s love interest, Jason George or “Dr. Ben Warren,” has signed on for a new Shonda Rimes medical show that was just picked up.  That means he can’t do both shows, and I’m guessing Shonda Rimes will send him off in style.  It isn’t like her to let anyone leave happily, and I can’t imagine that she’ll lose more than one cast member in the finale.  Poor Miranda.  I feel bad for Miranda’s character and for Chandra Wilson herself, who finally got a juicy, original story-line, just to have it taken from her after a limited number of episodes.  Even if I’m wrong about the death, I’m certain he’ll leave the show – it’s just a matter of how.

Hollywood Truth or Myth: Jake Gyllenhaal Used Steroids for ‘Prince of Persia’?

With ‘Prince of Persia’ coming out soon, there is a blaring question about how Jake Gyllenhaal bulked up so quickly for the role.  Was he on steroids?  Producer Jerry Bruckheimer says that the answer is no.  “He just worked really hard,” insists Bruckheimer.  “He’s a cyclist anyway and he bikes all the time so we just had him do a little lifting, but he looks fantastic.”  Umm…sure.  A “little” lifting?  If only that were all it took.  Click the link below to judge for yourself.

Larry Rudolph is Still Managing Britney Spears

The greatest piece of news that came out of Britney Spears singing Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone,’ is that Larry Rudolph is still managing Spears’ career.  In an interview with music producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Darkchild insisted that he didn’t leak the track, as he would “never leak something without Britney Spears approval, without Larry Rudolph, without Jive Records.”  Larry Rudolph managed Britney Spears when she originally shot to fame with ‘Baby One More Time,’ and she fired him shortly after marrying Kevin Federline.  She brought him back to resurrect her career after her breakdown.  I haven’t heard much about him since, and I was concerned that she sacked him and the press never got wind.  I am happy to report that my speculation was amiss.  Listen to the Britney version of ‘Telephone’ below.

Russell Crowe Storms Out of BBC Radio Interview – Listen to the Audio

Russell Crowe is back to his old tricks. In an interview to promote ‘Robin Hood,’ Crowe angrily walked-out  after the interviewer suggested that his accent in the film sounded Irish instead of the intended Northern English accent. Apparently, this isn’t the first time someone has suggested that, and Crowe became irate. Shocker.  You would think that Russell Crowe would have undergone some serious anger management counseling after the phone throwing incident almost ruined his career.  Listen to the interview below.

Ed Norton Wants to Appear in ‘The Avengers’ – What a Hypocrite!

Ed Norton must be the world class king of hypocrisy.  When asked if he would appear in the upcoming superhero showdown film, ‘The Avengers,’ he said that the fans need to tell Marvel that they want him in it.  Have we all forgotten how Ed Norton shunned promotion of ‘The Hulk,’ which I think is a large reason that the film under-performed at the Box Office?  Norton reportedly wanted access to the editing room, and Marvel wouldn’t allow it.  When Marvel released its version of the film without Norton’s input, he acted like a pouty little 5th grader and refused to do the talk show circuit.  Gee, any idea why he is now willing to do such a big budget movie?

‘Private Practice’ Spoiler – Shonda Rimes Discusses Why She Killed a Main Character Off

Mike Ausiello sat down with Shonda Rimes to discuss why she killed Chris Lowell/Dell off the show.  She said it was a difficult choice to make, but it was a “mutual decision,” based on the fact that it just wasn’t fair to have such a good actor on the show just to “hand out charts.”  First of all, I highly doubt the decision was mutual.  What actor would willingly leave a show that pays him a large sum of money, because his character isn’t going anywhere (oops – I forgot about T.R. Knight.  I’m sensing a pattern)?  Second, was it necessary to kill him off in such a horrible way, leaving a young, orphaned daughter?  This is classic Shonda Rimes.  She takes a great, fun show, and when the writing gets stale, she writes in some bombs, murders, and car crashes.  Go back and watch the first season of ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’  It was a fantastic show that didn’t make you want to cry and jump off a cliff by the end of each episode.  Plus, I liked Dell.
