FOX joined the live television musical game, and if the early ratings are any indication, they hit it out of the ballpark. With a strong cast that specializes in acting, singing, AND dancing, they gave the audience everything they wanted, and apparently more. As an observational aside, I always find it interesting when the casting and costumes emulate the original actors that played the characters. It’s one thing to copy a story, it’s another to copy the casting decisions. Is Julianne Hough playing Sandy or is she playing Olivia Newton John’s version of Sandy? And is Vanessa Hudgens really playing Rizzo, or is she dressed up like Stockard Channing playing Rizzo? Speaking of Vanessa, as always, she stole the show. Having said that, everyone came to play, and it showed in each performance. Also, it’s refreshing to see original television offerings that bring families together. Watch the performances after the jump.

Go Inside the LA Art Show Premiere With Lubov Azria
The stars descended on the Los Angeles Convention Center to celebrate art at the opening night premiere party for the LA Art Show. Hosted by Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman, all proceeds from the special event benefited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in its effort to fight pediatric cancer. The exclusive gathering featured unforgettable performance-art pieces, special installations and live music. As an internationally diverse art platform, the LA Art Show began in 2010 to bring together the most high-profile art pieces and provide a unique opportunity for collectors. The Dishmaster caught up with Lubov Azria on the red carpet, and the Chief Creative Officer of BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP graciously discussed the intersection of art and fashion, along with her favorite works of art.

How does art inform the inspiration for your collections?
In absolutely every way. The collections are about distilling what’s new and what next and art does just that. It provokes thought and innovation and when done right . . . it inspires.
What artists most inspire you?
Young and emerging artists with a fresh take on the established art world that have something to say. Artists that take risks but yet stay true to their own narrative and aesthetic.
What is the most memorable piece of art you ever purchased?
They say art is the gift that keeps on giving. This is especially true of a piece in my home by artist Howard Hallis. Every time I walk past it I see something new or notice something that I hadn’t seen before. It’s a great conversation starter, and I enjoy looking at it every day!
What city have you visited with the most thriving art scene?
[LAUGHS] I get to travel a lot and wherever I am I gravitate toward art exhibits and galleries. I have to say Beijing, because there was art everywhere and in a country where free speech and freedom of expression have not always been the norm, I feel the art has become the medium for people to tell their story, their dreams, their fears, and above all — their hopes.

Kanye West, Amber Rose, and the Gift That Keeps on Giving
There are rules about spats with one’s exes no matter who said what or who did what to whom, and Kanye West and Amber Rose just broke them, taking their blind rage to a point of no return. When Wiz Khalifa insulted the title for Kanye’s new record by implying he bit off another artist, Kanye went ape and hurled a series of insults toward Wiz, which included hits at Wiz’s child with Amber Rose, saying that he’s angry he’s indebted to a stripper for 18 years that “trapped him.” Rose retorted with a crude comment about Kanye’s affinity for ass-play in the bedroom, and Kanye . . . didn’t respond. According to Amber, children are off limits (but apparently what happened in the bedroom . . . isn’t).
Sarah Silverman on Jimmy Fallon — Holy Hotness!
There’s much to acknowledge about Sarah Silverman’s very funny appearance on Jimmy Fallon, but as an anti-feminist, I can’t help but ignore how unbelievably hot she looks. Apparently dating Michael Sheen will give you a fountain of youth, because Silverman has never looked so chic and happy. Remember the Jimmy Kimmel romance days of ball caps and jeans? Chelsea Handler Responds to Heather McDonald: “She Sold Tabloid Stories”
When Heather McDonald badmouthed her former boss at E! during a recent podcast, I knew there had to be more to the story. First, no one takes aim at a Hollywood power player if their career is on track and second, she had no definitive point other than some baby crying about being banned from Handler’s inner circle. As expected, Handler did not take kindly to the criticism and told Howard Stern that McDonald sold stories to the press about Handler’s personal life in exchange for her own photo being featured. Something tells me McDonald should start searching for a new career. Listen to Handler’s account below.
Steven Avery’s Attorney is Unsure of His Guilt
Netflix’s widely watched true crime series ‘Making a Murderer’ is supposed to raise serious questions about our judicial system, not Steven Avery’s guilt. Why? Because his guilt is the least relevant part of the series. If Avery can be convicted based on evidence obtained through a plethora of police infractions, including a coerced confession without an attorney present, then every innocent life is in jeopardy. We set guilty people free to protect the innocent, and there’s a reason for that. Allowing the state to build a case based on their own personal belief of a defendant’s guilt, means that even if they plant evidence, taint the jury, and force confessions, it’s completely cool as long as it’s all in the name of protecting the public, right? Well, tell that to your son, daughter, parent, or friend that’s wrongly convicted of a crime, because those same standards will apply. Avery’s attoreny made that very clear on CBS Morning, when he said “I’m not convinced of his guilt,” in refrerence to a question about Avery’s innocence, which clearly reiterates the standard of “Beyond a reasonable doubt.” Watch below.
Linda Perry Calls Out Lady Gaga’s Songwriting Credit
Linda Perry is known for her no-apology approach to the press, having often spoken up about the perils of the current music industry and her own experience with unfair streaming services that underpay its artists. It only makes sense, therefore, that she’d focus her attention on publishing rights, and this time — Lady Gaga took the hit. According to Perry, Diane Warren wrote the song currently nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars for the film ‘The Hunting Ground’ and Gaga got a credit for promotioal purposes. Perry’s proof is having received the demo originally written for another artist. Gaga’s subsequent version only changed one line, which means if she did participate in the writing, it was minimal at best.
Though Perry has a point, this type of exchange has been afloat for decades, with Paul Anka’s penned theme for ‘The Tonight Show’ as the most notorious example. According to Anka, Johnny Carson wanted a credit, and without it, Anka’s tune wouldn’t make the cut. Better to get 50% of something than 100% of nothing, Anka thought, so he agreed. It’s a problem, but it’s the type of trade that exists in many, unrelated industries.
