It's Not Gossip, It's Commentary
I wasn’t going to comment on this, but the story won’t seem to go away, so it’s worth mentioning. Paula Deen has based her career on unhealthy foods, and she’s currently being chastised for hiding her diabetes. First, if you didn’t know that Paula Deen’s recipes could cause diabetes from excessive sugar intake, then you’re pretty dumb. Second, all things are good in moderation, and no one forced you to eat her food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Furthermore, she’s no more responsible for diabetes than McDonalds is for heart attacks. Grow a brain, lose some weight, and start eating better.

I have to give Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rimes a lot of credit. There are very few shows that can climb out of a writing slump so successfully. The show has been completely resurrected, and it’s better than ever. In the scene below, watch the very gifted Sandra Oh and Kevin McKidd discuss abortion.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I’m guilty of sexting pictures to significant others (or not so significant others — depending on how you look at it). But if those pictures ever made their way to the internet, I might say something like, “wow, who’s that super hot chick with the insanely flat stomach? Too bad it’s not me.” Unfortunately for Travis Barker, he’s covered in tattoos that don’t afford him the same ability to deny. I bet he didn’t think of that issue while getting inked. But before you feel sorry for the guy, I’d like to note that I’ve seen these pictures — and let’s just say he can’t claim damages for destroying his “reputation.”
All I can say about the most recent clip of Sunday’s Kourtney and Kim Take New York is that Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian successfully reminded me of all the reasons I hate being in relationships. Isn’t it wonderful when all the things you love about someone become the things you hate? Though they certainly set a record for the turnaround. When actors become breakout stars of a television series, they inevitably want out of their contract to star in movies. Studios get angry, actors become defiant, and finally, after a predicted media meltdown, the network and studio decide they would rather have to rewrite a story-line than deal with a difficult, unhappy actor. But the actor soon discovers that the movie business brings more fame than money, because offers, no matter how big, are few and far between. Such was the case with Katherine Heigl, who kicked and screamed her way off of Grey’s Anatomy until she was finally released from her contract. And like the many actors before her (see David Caruso) — she wants back in. Shonda Rimes is probably tickled pink.

My passion for our film Gnomeo & Juliet and belief in Elton‘s song really got my emotional juices going. But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week’s premiere of the film W.E.” Elton John’s husband, David Furnish, casually dismissing the fact that he’s a sore loser.
I realize that Cindy Crawford’s daughter is modeling Versace’s “children’s line,” but no child I know dresses like that. She’s being sexualized in a short skirt, and furthermore, I find it deplorable that the fashion industry uses child models because anorexia is much more easily averted when using prepubescent kids. Since they haven’t reached maturity, they don’t have to starve themselves yet — right? When I was ten years old, I played in a cardboard box that I insisted was a rocket ship. This is just sad.
