Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes are Divorcing — Hollywood Weeps

Despite the endless speculation about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes being under some kind of contractual arrangement, I actually believed in them. I thought, “Maybe they are really in love, and Tom Cruise is just a victim of the Hollywood-rumor-mill. But just when I got comfortable with the couple, they’re done. That’s not to say it was ever fake, but let this be a lesson to everyone doing interviews about their relationship — be careful what you say and how you say it, because no one wants youtube-couch-jumping evidence of the way it used to be. As an aside, this will likely help both of their careers. Holmes lived in his shadow, and Cruise never quite recovered from his Oprah interview. As a unit, they professionally suffered, and this brings them back to reality in a more relatable fashion.

Leah Remini Claims Sharon Osbourne had her Fired from ‘The Talk’ — Osbourne Responds

Leah Remini finally broke her silence about being fired from The Talk, and she’s placing the blame exclusively on Sharon Osbourne. Remini said, “Sharon thought me and Holly were ‘Ghetto’, (her words) we were not funny, awkward and didn’t know ourselves . . . . She had us fired.” Osbourne insists otherwise saying:

In response to Leah Remini’s continuous comments that I had her fired from [The Talk], let me just go on the record to say I had absolutely nothing to do [with] her departure from the show & have no idea why she continues to take to Twitter to spread this false gossip . . . . Leah knows that I have never been in the position to hire or fire anyone on the show . . . . My only wish is that Leah would just stop all this negative, unprofessional, and childish behavior . . . . It’s been seven months. It’s time to move on. Leah is a very talented actress and I only wish her happiness and success. I know that better things are to come if she can just get beyond all this negativity.”

I have to side with Sharon Osbourne on this. Regardless of Sharon’s personal relationshps and influence, everyone knows that the network is exclusively responsible for picking-up options (A.K.A — renewing someone’s contract). While it might be true that Sharon didn’t want to work with Remini and expressed that to the network, it’s ultimately the network’s decision about which side to take. And furthermore, networks do not take kindly to being bossed around, so I highly doubt they would abide by Sharon stomping her foot. In an industry that’s akin to a high school clique, it’s important to maintain relationships, even when that clique burned you (see Tom Cruise & Sumner Redstone). It’s therefore not a smart decision to mouth-off on Twitter.

Connor Cruise in Anti-Gay Controversy? – Leave the Kid Alone

Here’s the only thing I know about football: both the players and the fans are certifiably insane. The players run around a big green field in tights and give each other congratulatory slaps on the ass. They also tackle each other to the ground and then subsequently lay there together for what can only be assumed is a borderline spooning session. As for the fans, they yell very loud at the television while eating greasy foods and pretending as if anything they are saying can actually be heard by the people inside that electronic box. So what’s the impetus behind my Dishmaster-football-rant? Tom Cruise’s son, Connor Cruise, is in trouble for a tweet he wrote in response to his rep’s gloating tweet about the Patriots’ loss, which served to inflate his aforementioned fan-insanity. Connor said, “That was a gay ass f**king tweet… U don’t say s**t like that about my team the second they lose. Low.” The rep subsequently dropped Connor as a client and then sent out emails calling him, “highly offensive, homophobic, and less than respectful.” I have some of my own words for Mr. Todd Krim (the rep in question). First, if you are going to taunt a kid on twitter after his team loses, then you have already crossed the lines of your professional relationship. Second, only a five year old child sends out emails to his colleagues in hopes of getting your client blacklisted in the industry over one comment. And third, using the word “gay” to describe dislike has not yet been universally disavowed in the same way as the F-Word or N-word. Yes, it’s bad and should not be used. But it doesn’t justify trying to trash this kid’s career in it’s entirety. The only child in this situation is Mr. Krim.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol — New Trailer — Tom Cruise is Hot

It’s okay to love Tom Cruise. Sure he’s a little nuts, but so are all actors. And if you judge him for his Scientology beliefs, then don’t you also have to judge every other actor with a religious affiliation that thinks there’s an imaginary, bearded man in the sky waiting at heaven’s gate? Plus, he’s still super hot, and here at The Dishmaster, looks are most important. So watch the trailer below for ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol‘ and start to get excited about the best action-movie franchise in recent history.

Celebrity Look Alikes: Colin Egglesfield and Tom Cruise

I just saw the trailer for Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin’s new film, Something Borrowed, and the leading man looks so much like Tom Cruise I actually found it distracting.  I realize I’m terrible with the look alike game, but watch below and tell me if you agree.

Don’t Play Scary Trailers in My Romantic Comedies

Can anyone guess what my favorite movie genre is? You got it — romantic comedies. Why? Because I go to movies as an escape, and I generally like to turn my brain off for the entire two hours. Every so often I’ll make an exception for a Tom Cruise action flick, but overall, the schmaltzier the better. So you can imagine my angst when I went to see Country Strong, and I saw an extremely disturbing trailer for a horror film. I was traumatized, and I found it very difficult to reset my mind in time for the cheesiness I desired. I thought trailers were supposed to match the genre of the movie. Are there just too few movies now to meet my interests?

Anne Hathaway Impersonates Katie Holmes on SNL — Nails It!

There’s a rumor floating around that Katie Holmes is pissed about Anne Hathaway’s Saturday Night Live impersonation of her.  TomKat’s camp denies this, but since they didn’t publicly say it was funny, I’m guessing they hated it.  The impression is so dead-on accurate, I think Anne Hathaway actually did Katie Holmes a major favor.  Pehaps she should take the time to study the impression so she can figure out why she comes off so strange in interviews.  Watch below.  It starts around the three minute mark.

Vintage Interview: Tom Cruise on Letterman

It’s no secret how much I love Tom Cruise. He’s one of my favorite actors in history, and he makes for a great interview. Because I also love David Letterman, you can imagine my happiness when I first watched the interview below. It was taped years ago, and Tom Cruise describes a very funny event when he was piloting an airplane with two friends. He laughs to hard he can barely get through the story. Enjoy!
