Jerry O’Connell Spoofs Shia LaBeouf — #IAMFAMOUSTOO

JERRY OCONNELLJerry O’Connell’s unique sense of humor has long been Hollywood’s hidden secret. In fact, I didn’t fully notice until his frequent Howard Stern appearances, where the very funny man had free reign to shine. O’Connell’s most recent brilliance comes in the form of Funny or Die, which will film his new art exhibit called, #IAMSORRYTOO. The exhibit sits beside Shia LaBeouf’s competing endeavor, called, #IAMSORRY, which entails LaBeouf’s woeful attempt at an apology to Daniel Clowes, whose work he plagiarized. LaBeouf sits inside an empty room with a paper bag over his head that reads, “I am not famous.” He also has a table of items, which seem to represent different aspects of his “career,” including a Transformers toy. As for O’Connell, his paper bag says “Super Famous,” and one of his items is a DVD of Stand By Me. When asked about LaBeouf’s possible response, O’Connell said, “The only thing we’re fearing is that Shia, who I don’t know personally, is known to fly off the handle. I just need fair warning if he comes storming in here for a bagged man on bagged man fight because I can’t see out of this paper bag . . . I just need warning to take cover.”

Jason Alexander Rocks His Rug — WATCH NOW

I find sweet pleasure in picking on Jason Alexander’s hair piece, and it’s not because I have an evil heart. It’s nice to see Hollywood take a hit at a man’s awkward appearance for a change. One thing is clear though, and it’s that Jason Alexander is completely ridiculous. I’d like to think that the intention of all aesthetic change is to trick the public into thinking it’s natural. And while many women with inflated breasts and frozen faces might violate that rule, it’s still a viable standard nonetheless. Where is Elaine Benes to rip that off his bald head when you need her? Watch Jason discuss his fake hair with Craig Ferguson below.

Eric Hutchinson Releases ‘Tell the World’ — WATCH LYRIC VIDEO

As an Eric Hutchinson fan, you can imagine my elation to hear his new single, “Tell the World.” Of the song’s inspiration, Hutchinson tells USA Today that he took a jab at our social media obsession, most notably how “we’re all obsessed with sharing only the best moments of our lives.” He goes on to explain that “It creates a fair amount of anxiety and jealousy online. You start to look at the Internet and think, ‘Am I the only person having a bad day?'” When I interviewed Eric Hutchinson, he explained his ability to write sad topics in a happy tempo, likening the practice to The Beatles who mastered that craft. Listen to “Tell the World” below, and look out for his new record, ‘Pure Fiction,’ on April 8.

X Factor Gets Axed — Sayonara Simon!

X FACTOR SIMON COWELLWhen Simon exited American Idol to launch X Factor, I assumed American Idol was doomed. I based this assumption on empirical evidence from the UK, which saw the demise of Pop Idol immediately after Cowell created X Factor, a move that ultimately resulted in a lawsuit with his former friend, Simon Fuller, who rightfully (in my opinion), claimed that Cowell stole Fuller’s format to launch his competing show. But I spoke toO soon.

When I wrote my original prediction, I had yet to watch X Factor, and from the moment it began I knew it would fail in the United States. First, the format was dated. The cheesy backup dancers barely work for major stars, let alone amateurs. Additionally, Simon Cowell’s personal investment in the show skewed his objectivity, and he traded his signature barbs for sappy critiques that served only to make the show feel fraudulent. He attempted to assuage the show’s format issues with beautiful women as judges, a move that might also work more abroad than domestic. Us American’s know a sideshow when we see it, and if you don’t hire someone with inside experience, all else will fail. To be fair, he did hire L.A. Reid, but unlike Harry Connick Jr., Reid was unable to articulate the intricate issues with each contestant, therefore never fully exposing the extent of his industry experience.

It’s unfortunate that X Factor failed, but with The Voice’s very fresh format and American Idol’s historical brand, it’s impossible to compete. And given Cowell’s recent popularity decline, his personality isn’t enough to save a sinking ship. That being said, I’m sure the guy is crying in a big pile of money. It was fun while it lasted.

Vintage Video Pick: Heart Performs ‘Stairway to Heaven’

After some very powerful prodding from one of my parental units, I finally watched Heart perform Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven.’ And judging by the 10 million view count, it appears I’m the last to look. Better late than never I suppose. The Honors took place in December, 2012, and included the three surviving members of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. Of their pressure-packed performance, Ann and Nancy Wilson said, “that’s not an easy song,” and they were pleased when the surviving members found them after the show to express their gratitude. Watch below to see a little piece of history.

Howard Stern & Jerry Seinfeld: Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee

Two Jews kvetching over coffee?! It’s as if I’m home for Yom Kippur! Howard Stern joined Jerry Seinfeld for Seinfeld’s Crackle show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and hilarity ensued. Seinfeld dodged Stern’s Leno questions, followed by a very funny accusation that Stern’s obsession with Seinfeld’s sexual prowess might be based on Stern’s homosexual tendencies. Stern also revealed some touching childhood moments about his insecurity and his bid for his father’s affection, which was beautifully juxtaposed against his arrogant declaration that he’s the greatest guy in the history of radio. If you listen to Stern’s radio show, you’d know that Seinfeld and Stern have yet to reunite post-filming, despite Stern’s desire to cultivate a friendship. In fact, when Stern inquired on-the-air about the exact date this episode would be released, Seinfeld’s assistant reached out with details. My guess? Seinfeld’s wife might not be a Stern fan. But what do I know? Watch below to see the two titans in action.

George Clooney v. Gwyneth Paltrow v. Vanity Fair — OUCH

In an effort to annihilate her haters, Gwyneth Paltrow garnered some more. For months it’s been rumored that Vanity Fair will run a “take down” piece on Paltrow, which will focus on why the public likes to pounce on the star and why her likability leaves a little to be desired. While I find the interest entirely confusing (i.e. WHO CARES), Paltrow’s reaction is more notable, given that she emailed everyone in Hollywood to bully them into boycotting the magazine altogether. That list allegedly included George Clooney, who objected to be dragged into her mess. Watch Clooney poke fun at Paltrow during his Vanity Fair shoot, and watch Julia Roberts’ very hilarious reaction.
