For years I’ve been wanting to see Loveline on television again. It was one of my favorite shows growing up, and it taught me everything I didn’t want to know about third nipples. I was so obsessed I even caught the evening radio show after watching it on MTV. Since Adam Carolla left the show, it has never been the same. Carolla says he left because he was strangely offered a much lower salary, which led him to think someone wanted to push him out. The disloyal Dr. Drew chose to continue the show without his much-need partner in crime, and Mike Catherwood is his current co-host. If you saw Catherwood on Dancing With the Stars, then I don’t need to explain why Mike Catherwood is not exactly . . . entertaining. So does it really make a difference that AOL will start to air video of Loveline? Bring back Adam Carolla!

Vintage Clip: Kirstie Alley Tells Larry King About Her Oprah Bikini Moment
I’ve developed a new love for Kirstie Alley lately, mostly because of her incredible performances on Dancing With the Stars. While watching some recent clips, I came across her interview with Larry King below, where she discusses her choice to appear on Oprah Winfrey’s show in a bikini. When King asked her “what she was thinking,” Kirstie accused him of looking disgusted by the clip. She then explained that she didn’t know the clip would live on forever, and she just figured she’d pose once and then be done with it. Here’s hoping she gets a show on Oprah’s new network where all she does is prance around in a bikini.

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy — Best Freestyle on Dancing With the Stars
Kirstie Alley is my favorite contestant in the history of Dancing With the Stars. The goal of the show is to find someone that you can watch progress throughout the season, and Kirstie Alley embodied that. Plus, she’s lost so much weight in such a short period of time, I find myself doing cartwheels in her honor. On tonight’s finale, Kirstie and Maks stole the night with their freestyle. It’s not that it was the most technically perfect, it just had the most heart. It also doesn’t hurt that Maks is an Adonis of beauty. Seriously — he hurts my eyes.

Dancing With the Stars’ Hines Ward — NFL’s “Dirtiest” Player
While catching up on last week’s ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ I thought to myself, “gee, that Hines Ward is such a cuddly teddy bear. In fact, I just want to hug him and pinch his cheeks.” Since I don’t know much about him, I decided to do some research. Turns out, he’s not so cuddly after all. Two years ago, Ward’s peers voted him the “dirtiest player” in the NFL. Apparently, he broke the jaw of Bengals’ Keith Rivers, with a “surprise downfield block.” I put that line from Sports Illustrated in quotations, because I have absolutely no idea what it means, so I’m unable to paraphrase. And in case that annoys you, please make a personal phone call to my father, whose sibling favoritism resulted in my brother’s attendance at every football game. But enough about me. Anyways, Ward responded to the criticism by saying, “when I go across the middle, those guys aren’t going to tackle me softly and lay me down to the ground. That’s not football. I find it ironic that now you see a receiver delivering blows, and it’s an issue. But I haven’t changed. I’ve been doing it this way for 11 years.” Again, I have no idea what “going across the middle” means, but it sounds serious. Authentic teddy bears are hard to find, I suppose.
Rob Lowe Angry with ‘The Outsiders’ — Is Rob Lowe too Sensitive?
How many times does Rob Lowe need to discuss a career grievance before he realizes that he might be the problem? In a recent interview to promote his new book, Lowe revealed that many of his scenes from ‘The Outsiders’ were cut, and he’s “never forgiven them for that.” This revelation can be added to the long list of Lowe career -whines. During a recent appearance on ‘The View,’ Lowe said he left ‘The West Wing’ because “they gave everyone but him a raise.” If you know anything about the entertainment industry, then you know that raises are built into actors’ contracts, which means that simply isn’t possible. It is possible; however, that they gave other actors a larger raise than Lowe, leading him to leave the show in a huff. And what about ‘Brothers and Sisters’? Rumor has it Lowe left the show because he felt his character was under utilized, and he asked to be released from his contract. Something tells me that Rob Lowe is too sensitive for the industry. That being said, I’ll allow him to cry on my shoulder. The man sure is yummy.
‘The Voice’ Will Be Two Hours Now — Gigantic Waste of Time?
I’ve never in my entire life watched a one-hour show and thought, “you know what would be really great — if this show was two hours long.” In fact, I often find myself infuriated when I’m forced to fast-forward through a large portion of Celebrity Apprentice, presumably because the producers think the show is so fantastic that they refuse to edit out the extraneous material. ‘The Voice’ is hopping on board the piss-off-The-Dishmaster train, by expanding their one hour show to two hours. I imagine that since the ratings are great, they want to use the show for all its worth, thereby maximizing their ad revenue. Here’s the problem — adding an hour fatigues the viewers and inevitably sacrifices the quality of the show. When you get greedy, you lose your cash-cow.
Why Didn’t Katie Couric Announce Her CBS Retirement on CBS?
If there’s a public interest in losing your job, you might as well cash in on it, right? When Barbara Walters asked Katie Couric if she was leaving CBS during her appearance on The View, Couric squirmed. At the time, I knew why. She didn’t want to give The View a huge amount of press with nothing in return. Why not make some money on your job loss? Couric chose People Magazine for her big announcement, and I imagine they paid her a pretty penny for the revelation. If there truly wasn’t bad blood between Couric and CBS, she might have gladly given CBS the free publicity.
Audrina Patridge’s New Show — A Poor Man’s Version of ‘The Hills’
Judging from the clip below, Audrina’s new show looks like another peak into the boring lives of depth-less television stars. My patience for reality television is seriously waning (with the exception of Jersey Shore, of course). In the video below, Audrina’s mother apologizes for her drunken rant on Dancing With the Stars, and Audrina completely blows it off and says she doesn’t care what other people think. I’m no expert on alcohol so I might be wrong on this, but her mother looks drunk in the clip, which is ironic because she’s apologizing for her drunken behavior. Am I to seriously believe that Audrina is completely fine with her mother’s actions, and they’re one big happy family? All signs point to no, and unless they plan on taping some kind of intervention for what appears to be alcoholism, I don’t believe a second of that video. Again, I have absolutely no idea if her mother has a drinking problem, but I’m almost certain that this is faux reality hogwash.
Karina Smirnoff Poses Naked for Playboy — What’s the Point?
I’m a huge fan of Playboy. I grew up in a house with Playboy magazines on the coffee table, and I read it for the articles (no, I’m not kidding). That being said, I have absolutely no idea why Karina Smirnoff would pose for the magazine. She’s already famous from Dancing With the Stars, and this will do nothing to elevate her career. Did she get paid a huge sum of cash? And please don’t tell me she wants to celebrate nudity — because it will pain me to respond. When you’re navigating your career in the business, every choice you make must be strategic. You cannot shoot from the hip, which seems to be happening here. Playboy is a vehicle for hot chicks that are struggling to get noticed, not for people already famous. Yes, Marilyn Monroe did it — but that was a different time. These shoots don’t get the same attention they used to.
