If Kerry Washington knew that ‘Scandal’ would be held from the Fall schedule over her pregnancy, she certainly proved her acting prowess on Jimmy Kimmel, where she was joined by Shonda Rhimes for a will-Olivia-Pope-Be-Pregnant Q & A. This is a surprising move, but perhaps it reflects Washington’s desire for maternity leave. You won’t see any tears from The Dishmaster, though. Scandal has become far too dark for my enjoyment as of late. It’s tough to root for completely evil, sociopaths who show zero signs of remorse. In short, Washington still speaks to her father, who killed the President’s son, and she’s currently pursuing a man that killed his wife’s father for the inheritance. If there’s any attempt to justify that behavior with “he was following orders to save his own life,” that would indeed be the Nuremberg Defense, and it was dismissed in Nazi Germany.

Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner in Feud Over Rob
With two daughters who married unfaithful addicts and another who was hitched for a mere 72 days, you’d think there would be a little less judgment from the Kardashian clan toward their one male sibling, but fans of the show know that the girls often ride a very high horse in a big, glass house. So when Kim and Khloe told Kris Jenner not to buy a house for their brother, Rob Kardashian, and to “cut the chord” instead, Kris finally defended herself by reminding her family of their own notorious messes. Watch below to see Kris remind Kim of her very abnormal marriage to Kris Humphries.
Nicole Scherzinger Drops ‘Cats’ for ‘X Factor’
There’s no denying Nicole Scherzinger’s beauty and talent, so it absolutely confounds me that she’s been unable to find her career-defining role. I can only assume the issue is poor management, as she’s been more obsessed with talent shows than actually making art on her own. So when Andrew Lloyd Webber revealed that she opted out of Cats on Broadway to take a spot on X Factor, I was not surprised. Nicole shrewdly treated the controversy with a casual yet respectful response, saying, “I had every intention of doing Cats on Broadway but the contract was never finalized. I am incredibly blessed to be given so many amazing opportunities, including Cats, but unfortunately we weren’t able to make it work this time around.” Translation? X Factor made me a better offer just in time. But is it a better offer? How many shows can the former Pussycat Doll play judge before she produces something that justifies her throne? This was a huge mistake, and if she were actually interested in art rather than a paycheck and prowess, she’d have chosen Cats.

The Bachelorette Coming Soon: Tune In to ABC
As a writer, I’m often commissioned to write copy for high-powered entities. Though ABC doesn’t make that list, the upcoming season of The Bachelorette with JoJo Fletcher has me feeling generous, so the next time you hear “I wonder if he’s here for the right reasons,” in a confessional, there will officially be more colorful options. Here goes:
- Does he have a secret agenda for being here?
- Is he a fame whore searching for camera time?
- Is he here to promote his personal business?
- Does he have an actual job, and what kind of job would let him take this much time off?
- When he says he loves me, does he really mean, ‘I want to win.’
- Why would anyone subject themselves to this?
- If I get him really drunk, will he tell me the truth about his intentions?
- I’m way better looking than that dude. Does JoJo have bad taste?
- Will I catch a cold if I kiss ten guys?
- If I sleep with this guy, will he tell the world about it after I dump him?
The Bachelorette airs on ABC Monday, May 23.
Meghan Trainor Takes a Tumble on ‘The Tonight Show’
Meghan Trainor took a tumble on ‘The Tonight Show’ at the easiest moment of her complex choreography, making it even more hilarious. To top it off, Jimmy Fallon joyfully joined her on the floor, following by extending a hand and assuring her that “grabbing the mic” is the most complicated part of her choreography. It’s worth a watch, mostly to see Trainor handle the fall with a smile on her face and a good attitude. You’ve got to love the talented pop star for not only giving it her all, but for not looking like every other girl in the business. She’s one of a kind. Watch below.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Reveals Unexpected Romance
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ often surprises us with unexpected deaths or on-set explosions, but last night’s episode proved romance can be just as shocking. In a movie no one saw coming, Meredith got her groove back with Nathan Riggs, after a parking-lot fight turned into a steamy makeout. Alex also professed his love for Jo and re-proposed marriage, only to receive a sad rejection. Watch both clips below.
Michael Strahan’s Last Show on ‘Live’ – Thanks Kelly
Is Michael Strahan making a mistake by leaving ‘Live With Kelly and Michael’ for ‘Good Morning America’? Only time will tell, but at least he can cry into a big pile of money if the career move doesn’t work out. After watching his exit package below, I couldn’t help but feel sad, because Kelly and Michael really did have sweet on-stage chemistry, and life isn’t just about money. He’s moving to another show as part of an ensemble, which apart from the money, feels like a step down. Good luck, Michael. You will be missed, especially since I don’t watch GMA.
ABC Cancels ‘Nashville’ – City Weeps
After four seasons, endless original music, and two new A-list showrunners heading into season five, ABC decided to cancel ‘Nashville.’ Lionsgate TV will shop the show to other networks, but the stars are already taking to twitter to express their sadness. Major Megan Barry also reacted to the cancellation, saying:
The show has been an enormously successful promotional tool for our city, which is why the State of Tennessee and Metro Nashville were prepared to support production for a fifth season the be filmed here. This is a loss for ABC and for the millions of fans across the world who have grown to love this show. We have enjoyed hosting the cast and crew of the show over the last four years and look forward to future opportunities for film and television production here in Nashville.
The news comes on the heels Hayden Penettiere’s announcement that she will enter rehab a second time to receive treatment for postpartum depression. The writers had tailored each episode around Hayden’s first stint in treatment, and it’s likely she timed this decision around the show’s schedule. The show saw various incarnations, as it was originally a story about an aging country star in competition with an up-and-coming act, but it soon became more about the family of Connie Britton’s character, with Hayden’s character taking a backseat. As an avid fan that watches each week, I’m sad to see it go, but at least this means I will no longer have to see Rayne’s angsty teenage daughter Maddie, whose storyline was so irritating it caused me physical pain. Seriously, though. This is a major loss, but it’s not shocking. ABC had previously threatened to cancel the series heading into season four.
Sharon Osbourne Addresses Split on ‘The Talk’
Not one to take news of her split lying down, Sharon Osbourne returned to ‘The Talk’ on the heels of separation from longtime love and father of her three children, Ozzy Osbourne. While sipping an appropriate glass of Lemonade, Osbourne said, “I don’t know where I’m going, who I’m going with. And I just need time to think. And really think about myself, about what do I really want for … Because I’m 63 years of age and I can’t keep living like this.” She’s obviously alluding to Ozzy’s alleged affair with a hairdresser, and her subsequent questions about divorce. Her daughter joined the action by holding a picture of a lemon on Instagram.
