R Kelly’s New You Tube Song, ‘Real Talk’ – Is it Real?

Alright – it’s safe to say that R Kelly’s career is in the toilet. As a result, he’s joined the creepy-guy-club, and started uploading music videos to You Tube. The song below might be one of the greatest creations in music history. I first heard it on Howard Stern, and I had to track it down. It’s a very literal recap of the many fights R Kelly has had with his “girl,” and it’s basically him yelling profanities over some background music. It made me laugh almost as hard as Chris Klein’s Mamma Mia audition.

Cyndi Lauper is Co-Writing a Book – Without a “Ghost Writer”

Cyndi Lauper appeared on Howard Stern and revealed that she’s co-writing a book.  I would like to give Cyndi major props for foregoing the “ghost writer” route.  Celebrities often pen memoirs with co-writers, and the co-writer goes unmentioned in an effort to portray the celebrity as an actual writer.  I’ve made it clear time and time again that I am majorly against doing so.  “Ghost-writing” is just a fancy form of plagiarism, and it’s also incredibly selfish not to credit someone that helped your success.  A great example of this is Neil Strauss, who became extremely well-known after writing Motley Crue’s story, ‘The Dirt.’ Why not afford other writers that same opportunity?  I imagine Strauss would not have stood for the ghost-writing suggestion, but if he was given the same opportunity in the current climate of writing – who knows.   I think writers these days are just happy to have a paycheck, so they don’t mind having their name left off the byline.  It’s time to bring an end to this though.  And I’m happy to report that Cindy Lauper agrees.

Joan Rivers Calls Out Ben Stiller on Howard Stern: “He’s Arrogant”

Joan Rivers appeared on Howard Stern today, and took a big swipe at Ben Stiller, calling him an “arrogant, lucky guy.” Though I love Ben Stiller, I certainly love celebrity trash talking even more (well, if it’s true that is). Rivers claims that Ben Stiller’s fame is owed primarily to his more famous parents, including the very funny Jerry Stiller, who played George Costanza’s father on ‘Seinfeld.’ Since Rivers is friends with Stiller’s parents, she doesn’t appreciate it when she runs into Stiller at red carpet events and he “can’t be bothered to say hello.” Rivers was on Stern to promote her new documentary, ‘A Piece of Work.’ Hopefully we’ll see even more trash talking in it. See the trailer below.

Pauly Shore Reveals His Legal Battle Over ‘The Comedy Store’ on Howard Stern

If you’ve ever sat back and wondered how someone like Pauly Shore rose to fame (if even for a fleeting second), this post will answer your question.  Pauly Shore revealed on Howard Stern today that he has been in a legal battle with his brother since his mother, Mitzvi Shore, left them ‘The Comedy Store.’   ‘The Comedy Store’ is a very famous comedy club in Los Angeles, where many of the most well-known comedians in history got their start.  It therefore only makes sense that Pauly Shore became a “comedian.”   After all, if someone is giving you a revered stage with no questions asked, it’s likely that you’ll make a few bucks.  Well, Shore’s less “successful” sibling isn’t having the shared arrangement, and is pursuing legal action against Shore for full control of the venue.  If you’re confused by this information, you’re not alone.  When I heard the interview the following thoughts occurred to me:  1) Pauly Shore is still alive?; 2) Pauly Shore is still alive?

Jim Breuer Calls Out Former ‘Saturday Night Live’ Writer Adam McKay

Jim Breuer added to his roster of hilarious appearances on Howard Stern today.  Of the many stories he told, my favorite involved his tumultuous relationship with former ‘Saturday Night Live’ head writer, Adam McKay.  Breuer recounted the many times that McKay nixed Breuer’s sketches with Tracy Morgan.  According to Breuer, McKay was threatened by his success on the show, and made it his mission to get him fired.  When Breuer received a private phone call from Lorne Michaels asking him to go to dinner and ‘make nice’ with McKay, he refused and was subsequently fired/quit.  Despite being infuriated by this story, it’s at least refreshing to hear that infighting and backstabbing exists no matter where you work.  We can all breathe a sigh of relief and stop dreaming of the days that we escape our “desk jobs.”  Oh yeah – Breuer also revealed that he, Tracey Morgan, and Colin Quinn, tried to gang rape Will Ferrell in an effort to get him to break character.  It didn’t work.  Ferrell stayed in character.

Artie Lange Update: Will He Ever Return to Howard Stern?

I stumbled across a re-cap of the wrap up show recently and was surprised to discover that no one seems to know if Lange will return.  Gary Dell’Abate, the producer for the show, said that Lange’s return is dependant on whether Stern re-signs with Sirius, indicating that Lange won’t be returning within the year (Stern’s contract is up in January, 2011).  He also said that Artie is “not good but better.”  Since Stern has yet to use guest hosts for Lange’s chair, I’m guessing that Stern hasn’t decided if Lange will return.  That could be because Stern isn’t sure if he would allow Lange to return, or he simply doesn’t know if Lange is physically or mentally capable of returning.  Let’s hope Artie Lange makes a full recovery.  Listen to Dell’Abate discuss the situation below.

Howard Stern Denounces his Radio Hall of Fame Nomination – “Don’t Vote for Me”

The National Radio Hall of Fame nominated Howard Stern this year, and Stern isn’t impressed.  He claims that the National Radio Hall of Fame is complete bull shit, and his fans shouldn’t vote for him.  Stern’s main source of anger is that he’s been the King of radio for a gazillion years and he’s shunned from the nominations every year.  So now that they finally came around and acknowledged him, he wants no part of it.  He’s also insulted that he is up against people that he considers complete nobodys in radio (Bob Brinker; Carl Kasell; and Bob Kingsley).  So should the fans listen to Stern and refrain from voting?  I say no.  Stern’s most hilarious radio is when he’s insanely angry about something, so I recommend doing everything you can to incite some animosity.

Howard Stern Goes to the ‘Sex and the City 2’ Premiere – See Pictures

For some reason the thought of Howard Stern at the premiere of ‘Sex and the City 2’ makes me laugh hysterically.  If you listened to the show today, you would have heard him endlessly discuss his anxiety about the premiere, because he was to wake up at 4:00am to do his show in the morning.  His solution?  He’ll only watch the first half-hour of the movie and dip out in time to get his full 8 hours of sleep.  At least he got to strike some poses on the red carpet though.  See pictures of Stern and others below.

Joe Jonas Says he Dumped Demi Lovato – Is that Necessary Joe?

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato broke up, and Joe decided to take a very classy approach by letting the press know that it was “his decision” to end the relationship. Really Joe? Next are you going to tell the papers that she put on a few pounds and you just weren’t attracted to her anymore? Just say the breakup was mutual and move on. I think Lovato needs to call Ryan Phillipe, who once said on Howard Stern that he would no longer date a girl with a publicist, after Abbie Cornish felt the need to release a statement that she dumped him and not the other way around.

Jimmy Kimmel Throws Howard Stern an A-List Party – Hilarity Ensues

Howard Stern spent the weekend in Los Angeles while promoting his wife’s book (‘Oh My Dog’), and Jimmy Kimmel decided to throw him a welcome party.  Kimmel appeared on Stern today to discuss the party, and it was some of Stern’s most hilarious radio yet.  My favorite detail involved an argument between John Stamos and Mark McGrath, where Stamos got angry with “musician” McGrath for his inability to play any songs for their shitty house band ensemble.  Stern insists that Stamos’ anger was unfounded, because at least everyone could play the song ‘Louie Louie’.  Stamos also gave both Kimmel and Stern shit for not inviting Don Rickles, who was peeved at both Kimmel and Stern for the oversight.  Oh yeah – Jeff Probst left in a tizzy because of Stern’s inappropriate attempt to interview him about his new girlfriend at the party.  Other celebrity guests included: Ben Stiller; Christine Taylor; Natalie Maines; Ryan Phillipe; Will Arnett; Amy Poehler; Christa Miller; Bill Lawrence; Bob Iger; Ashton Kutcher; and Demi Moore.  I’ve got to become friends with Jimmy Kimmel in time for the next Howard Stern party.  Knowing Stern though, he probably won’t return to Los Angeles for another 15 years.  Watch Beth Stern promote her book on Kimmel below.
